Adamantium vs Vibranium: MvC3 Combos, Resets & Maximizing Damage Output

That combo is still weird though. I can’t get the S relaunch most of the time because the opponent is too far away. When I do get the relaunch the opponent recovers before I can get the last two L charging stars out. Got any tips?

Also, nice combos. It’s the highest damage bnb for Cap I’ve seen so far. It’s a shame I can’t do them.

as I stated earlier lol you don’t necessarily need the last two charging stars or even the last air ss just cut that all out of it and after the charging star relaunch just do regular air H and then a down air H then S, use an otg assist and then finish the combo…it should still do near 900,000 which kills about 3/4ths of the cast on contact lol including the giant nerfed robot lol the real full combo should be even easier on him

CheshireMoose, I’ve been working on getting this combo down and I may have some tips for you.
Also, thanks ken for posting that combo. I’ve been frustrated about not doing high enough solo damage combos w/Cap solo. This combo should be enough to threaten anyone… Shame it requires 3/4ths of the stage though (minus OTGs).

The trick is to hit the opponent with the L Charging Star when they’re as high as possible after you land the L Shield Slash. That should give enough time to land the S after tagging them with the 2nd L Charing star.

This might be because after you relaunched with S, you were too high up when continuing the combo. After relaunching with S, you need to land that air H as early as possible. That way, when you land the L Shield Slash the opponent should be low enough to tag with a L Charging Star.

Some of my notes/modifications on the combo:

  • I’ve found it really hard to land the Final Justice at the end of the combo. Its easiest to pull off if your opponent ends up in the corner. From there, they usually stay in place long enough to land the Final Justice.

  • Instead of S relaunch you can cut corners and use two L Charging Stars into Hyper CS or Final Justice. Granted, you’re missing out on around 80-90k worth of damage, but it does has its uses. You can use this version if the opponent is too close to the corner to continue the extra part of the combo.

  • If the oppoenent is too close to the corner from S Relaunch you can simply use an Team Aerial combo to switch out Capt. for another, more favorable character.

One question though. Is it possible to substitute the last L Charging Star to an H Charging Star?

*The ending final justice is not too hard to land the only thing that is hard about is you have to cancel into it from the second charging star so you have to slide back then immediately slide forward and cancel it…you should then get it about 100% of the time

  • I’ve been exploring the games juggle properties and what not and I’ve come up with these conclusions, certain moves in the game ignore hit stun deterioration, some have a set hit stun that they will always deliver no matter how much has built up already, and other moves have the same hit stun as normals. In the case of cap his shield slash has a set amount of hit stun it will always deliver if connected so that’s why if you string many of them together it becomes an infinite. On the other hand his L charging star has infinite hit stun properties which means it leaves the character that gets hit with it in an unrecoverable state until they hit the ground. During this state the opponent can be hit by any normal or hyper or anything lol which is why you can tag charging stars onto the end of combos for the perfect finisher. Having said all that, it brings me to your question ‘Is it possible to add a H charging star to the end of the combo instead of another L?’ The answer is sadly no, because the H and M versions of charging star hit with the same hitstun properties as normals, so since H charging star hits 3 times think of it as 3 fast normals. Since normals do very little hitstun by the end of the combo the hitstun deterioration is so great that by the time you try to cancel it into any type of super (maybe Hyper charging star will work idk) they will flip out and all your hard work will be down the drain. So when trying to make up combos with cap remember these 3 types of hitstun deterioration and you could be out comboing me in no time ;-D

Edit: I have been using this BnB even though it is so small and simple I got 567 damage at most,
Cr.M, Cr.H, Shield Slash H, Jump, J.M, J.H (I tried using Down H but for some reason it stops the combo), Shield Slash M, Charging Star L, Delay, Hyper Charging Star.

I think it’s possible to do 2 Charging Star L’s on this one for more damage, if you do it I’m assuming you have to cancel to hyper charging star after them.

Also, Trag13’s Buktooth combo with Cap. is giving me trouble it’s hard to do the second jump part, I can only land it once in a while.

if possible if you’re only going to do one jumping h do jumping up and h - it does more damage.

the basic combo i was doing for a long time does good (not best) damage and is really easy with some practice, it’s similar to what you’re doing

c.LMc.H Shield Slash H, jump j.M j.upH Shield Slash M, jump j.M j.upH Shield Slash L, H xx Charging Star L Charging Star L Hyper Charging Star. If you land that off an air at the start of a match with most DHCs you’ll be able to kill a lower health character (Zero or Magneto) in that single combo as it nets you over 1 meter by doing it.

Online or vs most smaller characters only do one charging star - or if you’re in tournament and you know doing one of them into hyper charging star will kill. Lower the chances for mistakes. If you’re having trouble with some of the air combos into relaunch then just do this. Nets good damage!

My current BnB with my entire team is actually the last combo in this except without the x-factor and THC - does pretty fat damage and looks REALLY tight LOL - otherwise if alone I’ll do either a variation of ken’s combo or i’ll do my standard one. If I’m in the corner I do a fairly standard combo (like LMH call thor Charging Star M S MMH down H AIR TAG and finish with them - my other characters can OTG and super)

EDIT: Ken - i was actually planning on making a video guide - wanna work on it together and I’ll make/upload the video? with both our heads we can probably get some pretty good stuff and I won’t accidentally forget/leave something out because two heads > one head.

crouching m does less damage and has less range and is a worse move. train your brains to never crouching M.

I love my full team bnb so very much with avengers it’s awesome.

also worth noting - if you’re not planning to DHC if you’ve fully scaled your combos (as most of us will do) then ending with Hyper Stars & Stripes tends to do more damage! If you’re going to DHC most moves don’t DHC well out of S&S if you land all hits.

Hyper Charger Star is just as bad for DHC.

depending on what hypers you have next - I actually find that hyper charging star is great for DHC… in the corner! - or with beam/very fast hypers or with OTG hypers etc etc etc

there are lots of things that DHC out of it that work wonderfully - stars and stripes isn’t so lucky

Not sure how I feel about that video. Isn’t the point of having Captain America out there… to actually have Captain America out there? Sure you get 300k damage (at the expense of like 2 meters), but then Captain America is back in your assist slot. I dunno, it seems like if people wanted to DHC to another character, they’d do it anyway regardless of whether it hits or not. I dunno. I’m not trying to crap on your video, but I just personally think it’s pointless to post. No offense.

i think if you think that’s pointless you’ve already started massively limiting your game

if you can kill a character with that that would otherwise live through the throw then absolutely do it, the point of having captain america on your team is NOT to have him out on point 100% of the time - if it is you’re already behind because you don’t know how to effectively play your other characters and tag consistently.

even if you have full health if that will kill a character and you’ve landed the grab then you BETTER kill the character.

the purpose is not DO THIS EVERY TIME YOU LAND A THROW GRRAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH

Sorry I wasn’t clear. I mean I think the video is pointless because I imagine it’s pretty obvious you could DHC into an OTG super. I guess some people may not have thought of that though. Thanks for the tip, I’m sure it’ll help out people.
