That was in response to half the board saying the “japanese wont come for Accent Core”, “Or the japanese will laugh at us for playing Slash” or something like that. If you really want i can quote atleast 3 people saying that. Its no secret you hate slash because eddie sucks in it. This is just my opinion. Theres too much bs in accent core. Only people who actually play the game should vote. Cause the game is bs.
Also its not about matchups or anything. Its about everyone doing 60-80% damage with little or no meter. The game starts to look like an x-men vrs street fighter game. i mean if your into that nice, but i’d rather out think my opponent than get hit by a random hit and lose all my life.
I won’t dispute that but you can’t tell me slash is fun I just don’t see it. The characters who are good in slash are mad fucking boring. In GG/#R eddie aside all the good characters weren’t super brain dead
See and that’s what I don’t understand, when slash came out and they said #R was going to be played at evo. I was one of the people pushing for slash EVEN THOUGH I KNEW EDDIE SUCKED. Why? Cause it was the newer game. I can’t win
I believe one of the quotes was from me, but that’s kind of taking it out of context. Mizuki was talking about having a much better chance at beating the Japanese in Slash, and I was simply pointing out that I doubt many serious Japanese players would come to attend a Slash tournament so it kind of defeats the purpose of “beating” them. I wouldn’t care if 0 Japanese attended EVO, I’d still go and enjoy myself. I voted for AC because I like AC, not to accomodate Japan.
I respect you not liking AC. I thought the game looked broken and gay when I saw it too. Having played it now, I prefer it over Slash. Why? Better balance. Funner. You can scoff and say the cast is broken, and I wouldn’t disagree with you. But just about EVERYONE is broken, and even those who aren’t broken are perfectly capable of competing. AC is new and fun and there’s a lot of new stuff to mess around with, whereas Slash is just so god awfully boring. AC is the first step towards a very good game IMO. When the next one comes out and tones shit down it will be back to #R level of goodness.
I mean Slash had it’s merits…but man the game is just so boring to me. Why bother playing anyone who requires talent(Johnny) when I can just play Sol and get probably better results? I haven’t played Sol since XX, but he’s even EASIER to play than he was in #R or XX and he is like the best character in the game. My Sol is as solid as my Johnny and I have not practiced him since XX. To me, that is fucking stupid.
To me, it comes down to…AC tournament=interesting and fun tournament. Slash tournament=boring. That’s all there really is to it.
i want AC… i feel it will bring back some of that aggressive fire the other games had that slash didnt have so much of. but only if it comes out may 31st.
When thinking about attending EVO World, I almost forgot about the japanese players coming to play Slash (or should I say ? Core). It shouldn’t be much of a problem (still it’s a problem though). We Americans come to Evo to win… not to try to make it hell for the japanese. Besides Slash reminds me of old GGXX (just a bit worse). I’d like to play something fun and not be bored. You can’t bring out the best of your abilities if you’re bored, now can ya?:rolleyes:
Maybe you guys are just too lazy to practice to get good against those characters, and would rather just complain about them being “broken” than give the game a chance?
I’ve been going to arcades here in Japan and Pot, Testament and Jam don’t win THAT often. They’re good, there’s no doubt about that, but they’re not unbeatable. So you got stuck in Pot’s loop. Hopefully it didn’t kill you. If it did, don’t get all butthurt by it like a child. It’s only one round. Don’t let that shit happen again.
I can’t really get behind the people who say the game’s broken when they’ve only played it a handful of times. If you guys would just GET OVER the fact that EVERY character’s combos do more damage in general, then maybe you could ENJOY the game.
I don’t understand how it’ll be more fun to watch the same old boring-ass Slash combos you’ve seen a million times up on the big screen, than it will be to see all the crazy inventive NEW combos that the top players are pulling off in AC. For a player like me, who’s competent but in all honesty hasn’t a really big chance at winning, watching a fun tournament is far more important than playing Slash “because there’s less bullshit”.
by the time AC rolls around to Evo this year, it will be the prime time for it’s life span. it will have all the crazy ass combo videos coming out, all the mad inventive set-ups coming out, top japanese players showing off their absolute best for SBO, etc…
the game will really be fun to watch because we’ll have lots and lots of resources at our availability to improve to a high level. of course, you can have people who has used the same scrub-ass tactics since XX trying to scrub out wins and complaining about new games.

the only thing slash has going for it IMO is the fact that
1: i-no is buff
2: eddie sucks
3: every other former top tier is pretty ass, and they pretend buffed some low tiers.

I would re-post what I said on DL the last time this topic came up but my reasoning still stands. Switching to AC…Especially now would make EVO look like a joke. why change the game now. especially with not only one qualifier but TWO since they started. 3 will be done by the time AC is out for home systems. Now what kind of sense does it make to have qualifiers for one game. then 3 months later change it to a game that’s dramatically different. I mean this would change the tourney at the worlds already. meaning those who are good players at Slash may or may not be good at AC because of the characters. Huge difference. And yea I’ll probaly be attending all the evo’s(mos def east and north .dunno about west).
Accent Core has testament with a full screen knockdown 50% damage off any hit sweep throw.
Accent core has potemkin loop that kills you in 2 reps (corner variation) 3 reps mid screen variation.
Accent Core has Eddie who has the most perfect unblockables since xx
Accent Core has a pixy (jam) who does 80% combos with or without meter. (your choice)
Accent Core has baiken’s first unpunishable runaway counter (atleast I haven’t seen anyone successfully punish it.
Accent Core has generally more bs.
Over all (citing my reasons why accent core is broken) in accent core you can lose a round due to either 1 mistake or blocking. I mean if i can compare it to something im thinking playing against cable in marvel with 5 meters. Now he can’t kill you completely, but he’ll do 80% if you get hit by anything. To me thats just not fun. And remember people I’m stating my opinion. You guys ask for an opinion in this thread but if it differs from yours you get mad about it.

now actually. I’d come up with a compromise. How about we play accent core in generations mode when you can select your favorite version of your character. be it xx or ac. Now THAT I’d be able to have fun with. Pick your favorite version and show off your skills. fuck i’ll take that xx jam or maybe even reload jam. yea. that would be the shizznit!
-Testament combos are more situational now, and they don’t usually do 50% off a throw (except maybe on lights).
-Potemkin loops takes bar and you need to get nailed in the first place… with certain moves that give him time to set it up, and again he needs bar. Getting hit/thrown by Potemkin with bar ALWAYS sucks, doesn’t matter which version of GG you’re playing. It’s not like Pot loop is totally inescapable, either, just costly. Let’s complain that Pot can do meter-less mixup into a lot of damage while we’re at it.
-Eddie unblockables are a pain but they’re like 30% without guardbar, and you can FD jump some setups anyhow. If he does it meaty, okay you took 30%, MAYBE 40% if he went nuts. He’s also out of shadow bar in 2 of them (and that’s if he starts with the unblockable) and down 50% meter and you get to tech after the 2nd one. Not nearly as bad as Eddie doing 80% for no meter off a simple 2-way mixup. 50% bar for ~50% damage, shrug let’s complain that other characters can do 50% with an RC combo or worse yet with an FRC, omg.
-Jam only does 80% if she blows a ton of bar, she jacks your guard bar up, AND starts off an unprorated/reverse prorating move… and even then, it’s situational and certainly isn’t tensionless at midscreen. How is that different from any other character? Zappa can do 2-3 hits into stun into IK in that situation. Slayer, Johnny, I-No, Potemkin, hell even Dizzy… you probably died if they hit you in that situation. This was true in Slash as well, but I guess we’ll ignore that 'cuz we’re pretending that Slash was the most balanced game ever.
-I’ve punished the flying counter. It’s a pain to bait, but it’s not impossible. It’s pretty simple when you think about it, since you can make it whiff up close and if you didn’t have to block it, you can run after her and hit her with a poke or fast-moving attack.
Honestly, AC is no worse than any other GG in terms of brokenness, take that as you will.
