Now when I mean, for fun, does not mean I’m not a competitive player. Even though my goal is not to win, doesn’t mean Idon’t want to. This year especially I know I’m placing no where high in GG, but my comment was not really for myself, it’s for those people who are going to be totally inconvenienced with this decision. What about Arcade only players (doubt many of them still exist) and only have slash at their arcade? But you know what, no one’s going to fucking listen to me. And reason why I don’t know marn is well, I haven’t seen him in any vids I’ve watched, but most of the vids I watch are from Japan.

Arcade only players? Who’s that? There’s probably like 6 slash machines in the US I could be wrong but it’s not like it’s wide spread so that argument is out the fucking picture. And why would it matter? Evo is a console tournament. It’s not that no one is listening It’s just you’re not making any good points. Last year evo was going to use #R again but everyone said we should use slash. At that point and time we had about the same time to practice for the event. BUT WE SWITCHED OVER. Why is this time any different?
If you’re a competitive tournament player this should give you more then enough time to catch up, I’m just saying we made the move from #R to slash and it went good. Some scrubs bitched but overall people were happy. Slash is a horrid version of gg why should we not move on? What’s it’s saving grace? That all the scrubs can play cause the easy characters are good? D:

If you actually had something useful to say other than “You’re all ignorant” and “I’ve never heard of you, I only watch Japanese vids” then perhaps someone would listen. But you haven’t actually presented an argument that holds any real meaning besides the fact that you personally think the US has a better chance of winning in Slash…which is a hilarious statement to make considering you apparently never see American players play and have never heard of Marn.

You are arguing “for the people who will be inconvenienced,” but the people who would be most “inconvenienced” are the ones who would have had a shot at winning in the first place; aka the people who actually place at Evo, and they are mostly pushing for AC. In fact, the highest placing American players at the past two Evos are asking for AC.
Also wtf at random people who don’t play GG voting for Slash.
I voted AC for Evo World because if you’re a vet at Slash, it should only take you a week to get the basics down with the inclusion of new moves for chars. (the other stuff comes later). It’s not like learning a new game… it’s more like riding a new bike because you gotta get used to the feel of something new (which shouldn’t take long), but at least you still know the basics!:wgrin:
A lot of my friend had been training Slash for months and switching to AC all of the sudden seems to be unfair. My friends were hyped about the release of AC for the arcade but since we do not have an arcade center around here, my friends were never able to get the gist of the game play. Also, not everyone that is planning to go to Evolution is even members of the SRK. I think it is fairer that we vote during the Evolution event because then only the people whom are playing GGXX will get to vote. Another option would be only letting the people who registered online for the GGXX event is able to vote, if possible.
On the other hand, the Japanese are going to win again anyways … and they are playing AC.
I think it was evo 2k5 that we were still playing xx or reload and the japanese came down and still thrashed us. I also don’t understand why everyone here seems to think we should throw a tournament for the japanese. They don’t throw Marvel at SBO for us, why are we goin out of our way to throw AC for them?
Also I don’t think anyone outside of the tx people have actually played accent core or those that go to mike z’s house as well. The game is seriously broken and retarded. Seriously, I dont say this about alot of games but the game is bad. if wizard unwisely decides to make it AC then he’ll have to make it singles cause a) not that many ppl will enter and b) im playing pot / eddie. can’t win without pot. Its like ST even, where to win you gotta counter character.
nobody cares about beating japan except chicago. you may be confused.
also. broken new game > slash. if you say AC is a broken game, slash is a BORING game. pot is not impossible to beat. eddie is not impossible to beat. the exact same thing could be said about slash and not having sol / ky / anji / faust in your team at EVO.
There are more AC boards out there, shrug. TGA has it so some EC peeps have access, and I’m sure Chicago players will find a way, or they’ll just do what everybody else does and get good in a few months with the console release.
So there’s at least one place near all the GG hotspots with the game, even if it’s out of the way for a lot of people.
For all the talk of brokenness that goes on about AC and people chiming in on how Eddie/Pot/whoever is so good, it’s funny how nobody remarks how suddenly we see character variety and not 60% Ky/Sol teams and mirror matches like we did in Slash. Don’t get me wrong, I love a lot of things about Slash, but it’s hypocritical to complain about brokenness in AC and never mention problems with Slash.
Plus AC is FUN. It’s still competitive (another thing people neglect to mention in between “broken” and “retarded”). EVERY GG game is broken, but there’s enough silliness going on to make it a viable game.
About counter-characters- if you read the matchup charts, the matchups don’t get worse than 6.5/3.5. That’s about as good as it was in Slash, really.
I voted Slash. I don’t know why you guys like to lose so much. In Slash, Japan will have like a year and a half of practice and US will jave a year. IF some US GG players is talented enough he may have a shit to prove it. For AC, Japan will have like 7,8 months of experience and you will still be learning combos. Watching am,ericans play Slash will be hurtful. Let it go for SBO and we will finally be able to see if any american knows something about GG at vo 2k7… Throw a side AC tourney if you want too
IMO, all GG games are hugely broken, but Sammy is smart enough to launch them all really fast, so people don’t have enough time to destroy the game as completely as ST Akuma. If any GG game lasts more than 3 years I think we’re gonna see some MvC1 shit all over again.
slash was the most boring GG EVERRRRRRRRRRRRR and no it’s not cause it’s where eddie is the worst. in XX/#R I could play millia/bridget/faust/roboky(#R)/eddie/slayer. And they were all fun. in slash they were reduced to being super basic and not fun, I just can’t explain it slash was really boring can’t believe anyone is defending it
Bad argument, I learned combos in ONE GAME for characters I don’t even play. Why do people think it’s so hard to adjust to THE SAME BASIC ENGINE?
People should play the game before voting, seriously. It looked really stupid to me, and in a lot of ways it is pretty stupid but no more stupid than I’m used to for GG anyhow. After actually playing it, I really like AC. Can’t say I like it more than Slash just yet ('cuz Johnny/Dizzy are outright BORING in AC) but overall the game feels pretty good.
It’s not for the Japanese. When Accent-Core comes out, it’s what most US players will be playing.
I haven’t played the game but I do think it looks fucking terrible so I feel you, but the US scene is going to have two months to make the switch. I quit #R a week after Slash came out and I still like #R better (whole series has been moving in the wrong direction since imo).
