dropping $500 on plane ticket, food, hotel room for a dead, shitty version of the game you used to play isn’t exactly something most people would do unless they’re retarded.

now, if you’re a top player and think you can convince 2 of your friends who also hate the shitty old version, and want to drop that much money into going to a tournament you won’t even have fun at, maybe you have some good life priorities lol. i’d rather spend that money traveling to japan than going to evo.

and the random scrubs, who fill up the brackets? why SHOULD they go? they have to spend that $500 and pray that none of those top players show up. and they get the honor of playing “juicy g’s prime choice”

i’m voicing my frustration at you because you’re the one crying about how AC at evo breaks the community apart. you are considered one of the best in america, and you should be the one voicing FOR the change. honestly, i’ve forgotten why you’ve voted for slash > ac, and don’t really give a shit anymore. in my mind, you are one of the reasons evo isn’t holding AC. so, is it really your fault? no, because like you said, you don’t run evo. but with my train of thought, your voice influences other people.

Actually, EVO is serious business. Guilty Gear/Fighting Games are a hobby we enjoy, and most people would have to invest a lot of money to go to Vegas. So I don’t see what’s wrong with getting angry over a decision for something that would make someone not go to an event they would have otherwise enjoyed.

There’s a difference between getting in an argument over which chic you think is hotter and calling the other guy a faggot or something over the internet and arguing for 20 pages, and arguing about something that actually matters.

Even if 90% of the votes went to AC, EVO staffs are still looking for big numbers. I don’t think 150 votes will break it though. Also, I doubt 60% of the voters actually played AC or planning to go to Evolution. Though, you do have a point.

Zaibatsu is FULL of people (top players, even) bitching about how every single Tekken sucks compared to Tag, or how the whole series is a broken POS compared to say Virtua Fighter.

Anyway, I voted for AC. Reasons:

1. Because this community needs to progress. In the short run, Slash gives us the better chance vs. Japan, but in the long run we will be better off switching ASAP.

2. Watching videos, this could be my favorite fighting game ever. Why?

Because I think making everyone broken is the BEST possible way to balance a game. It means there are few or no hardcore counter-matchups, and it also means that the majority of characters can actually WIN tournaments, as opposed to just placing high once in awhile (see: 3s).

It makes things deeper, too - most of the cast has more interesting things to do in AC than in Slash, it appears.

Sirlin has said something similar in the past, IIRC, in one of his articles on game balance. The opposite concept, balancing by toning everyone down, has a history of producing utter shit - the Alpha 2 & 3 “upgrades”, MSH vs. SF, what have you.

I have to laugh at people bitching about Potemkin - he’s not even top 5. Here’s a list for ya:

From the spectator’s standpoint, this will be far and away the best GG yet, and I think most of the players themselves will concur once they learn how to beat the most obvious BS.

From the start, I kinda figured HOS wouldn’t be the ultra bestest - he just looked so good because almost all the vids of him are kaqn. No Jam in there really surprises me though. And please explain Slayer - I definitely saw him as A tier material, but top 5?
