Anyways, I voted for AC. After this month, slash is dead to me. All bullshit aside, most peeps know that slash won’t be played when AC comes out. Anyone playing GG competively will pick up AC after Evo anyways. If you don’t like AC, then don’t fucking play it. Keep playing Slash. You’ll be farther behind after Evo is done.
I’m going to Worlds regardless of slash/AC being the game in tourny. If AC makes it, cool. I got another tourny to enter. If not, fuck it. I’ll be in the BYOC room when I’m not playing VF5/T5:DR.

well if evo is truely a professional world event, and they choose to hold guilty gear as an event, then to appear more professional one should choose the latest version of the game which all players plan on switching to in the near future, if they have not already.
to me its like say WCG were to hold Dead or Alive 4.0 instead of 4.1, or if you consider the changes in AC so drastic that its a new game, Dead or Alive 3 instead of Dead or Alive 4. Or Counterstrike 1.3 instead of 1.6, or Quake3 instead of Quake4, or Warcraft 3 RoC, instead of Frozen Throne, or Halo 2 instead of Halo 3 whenever Halo 3 would come out. and so on.
I can’t think of any professional gaming event that uses an older version of a game when holding a world class tournament for that game.
as a reporter for the gotfrag console department, I would frown upon a decision to choose an older version over a newer version based upon the criteria not many people would have access to it right away. Theres plenty of people who don’t have access to a new game thats come out in a different professional tournament environment before, and then spend maybe a month or two bootcamping before competition time.

I figured NUMBERS AND NAMES would help put things into a better perspective, rather than people yammerin’ on about “broken this, broken that.” Who cares? People are missing the point here and that’s the fuckin’ numbers. There it is, as plain as day. Check 'em out for yourself, people. Personally, I’m going to play at EVO whichever game it is and it seems like AC is sure as Hell winning.
Also note, this post isn’t made to directly flame anyone. Even if I did post names. In fact, I posted A LOT of names. These are just the statistics, no hate meant at all. 
I voted for AC because it’s the newer game. As has already been stated, the people who’ve qualified already want AC. Whether or not it’s a better game shouldn’t even matter, IMO. The community needs to grow and the only way it can do that is to keep up with what’s current. Keeping the GG scene alive is hard enough in the United States as it is, and having Slash at Evo is just another step backwards.
Everybody who’s serious about GG either already has access to AC or will within several weeks. Also, most serious players want AC for Evo. It’s no coincidence that the vast majority of people who voted for Slash are not serious GG players.
Certainly I realize that there are logistical difficulties involved, and I’m not saying that the opinions of non-GG players don’t count. But honestly, if you’re going to hold a tournament, you must cater to the players if at all possible. Even now, as it stands, AC has the clear majority of votes, and an even larger majority among actual GG players. Having Slash in spite of what the poll clearly shows will upset a lot of people, and that’s no good for the players or for Evo.
As of now, my intentions are to go to Evo World, and honestly it would be severely disappointing if Slash were held instead of AC. That pretty much means that nobody will really care about the main tournament, but instead about whatever AC side tournament will inevitably be held. I sincerely hope that the Evo staff makes the right decision in this matter and holds AC instead of Slash.
