No. Even if this was something that could add depth to gameplay(which it doesn’t), it clearly gives the first player the advantage. It also forces everyone to use pad.
Banning it and enforcing the ban will not be difficult.

the biggest issue with this glitch is that it only works for the<— direction.
such that there will be an overwhelming advantage to a particular side of play if people choose to play with this glitch being part of the game. So despite players having choice of side at losses, this is (though not the same) akin to (for example) 1p side being able to choose akuma, while 2p cannot
Hmm not sure what your saying but I was able to do an ASBK with chun li by charging down with the D-pad and jumping using the control stick. So its not only for <----
Sirlin’s book says quite explicitly that if something favours one player or the other it qualifies for the BANSTICK. “A ban must be enforceable, discrete, and warranted.”
Enforceable :: ban pads, or clip off the analogue stick OR the D-Pad.
Discrete :: This is a discrete problem - having 2 inputs for direction.
Warranted :: “Some glitches in a two player game can only be performed by player 2. It is reasonable to ban such a tactic, even if it?s not overly powerful, just on the basis that all players do not have equal access to it.”
Both quotes from Playing to Win
Wave dashing and roll cancelling added more depth ultimately to both CvS2 and Melee.
Although I personally see roll cancelling as an abomination and wave dashing is merely a form of movement in of itself.
Charge characters are meant to be more defensive/patient since charge moves tend to have more powerful properties and control more space in comparison to moves that can be done instantly. This glitch eliminates the mitigating factor of charge moves and even WORSE is that only the 1p has access to it.
This is…MADNESS!!!
And I agree with mattshinobi. This pretty much guaran-fucking-tees that we will get that patch that we so rightfully deserve.
If we do get a patch I hope the following things will be addressed besides the walking forward glitch:
A) Akuma’s raging demon unblockables are eliminated and his other retarded bullshit is toned down.
B) Fei Long gets better frame advantage after chicken wing. It makes zero sense as it is, against characters with greater throw range (like Dhalsim, Gief, and Thawk) it’s dangerous to use it even if you land it! In what way does it make sense that your opponent gets a free chance to throw you after you land what is basically a jump in? Yeah you can flame kick, but you have to do it with reversal timing or you get thrown. The margin of error is much greater on the Fei player’s part in that exchange. (and flame kick is unsafe now so if they block it some characters, like dhalsim, can punish you!)
C) Honda loses stored ochio. Fuck that guy, seriously, even some people in the Honda thread thought it was fucking retarded, and the walk forward glitch only makes it all the more clear that he should’ve lost it from the getgo. He’s probably top tier as is anyway, he doesn’t need it to win, and he still has jab headbutt to beat anything up close.
jin, where do i sign up for your newsletter
If someone thinks this BUG doesn’t warrant a ban, then you should stop posting on srk.
:arazz:
I love this guy…:lovin:
On some real shit fuck that fat fuck.
Him, Akuma and Vega do fuckin circle jerks to loli porn at night after they burn down orphanages.
Bastards.
I think it warrants a patch, but it is too difficult to ban. Everyone is focusing on the OBVIOUS moves that can be done with this glitch, like walk forward charge moves and walk up super. Those are easy to see and prove that someone cheated, if there were a ban.
However, one of the most useful applications is guaranteed cross-up guard. That works on both sides of the screen, and is undetectable unless you were looking at the player’s hands. How are you going to ban that?
Another very useful application is walking forward while guarding, to go for a throw or a tick throw. This can only be done on the left side of the screen, but it too is undetectable. How can you tell whether the player is a really fast blocker or the player is using the glitch? You can’t unless looking at their hands.
How about walk up stored Ochio? If I am using the glitch and I hit it repeatedly, you might try to get me thrown out of the tourney. But what if I’m really fast with the 360, or I’m ticking into a legitimate one. How are you going to prove that I am cheating? How about if I’m not cheating, I’m really fast, and you just think I’m cheating? You are going to get me kicked out of the tourney for being really fast?
When you talk about ‘ban’ you are talking about disqualifying people in a tournament for using something that breaks the game. One of the necessary qualifications is that the ban is enforcable, which I do not think it is.
It needs to be patched. Explain to me HOW it would be banned and enforced, and maybe you can convince me that a ban would be a good thing.
Automatic cross up guard would make me really unhappy. Seems like it would be really easy to do too. Patch this shit.
Automatic cross up guard is really easy to do. I can do it with one hand on reaction. Index on left, thumb on analog right. I’ve already started using it online.
THIS, All of this. Good reply homie.:clapdos:
Yes! Fix the glitches, do this, and nothing else Capcom, and you would have made the greatest game ever. That, or I’ll start playing Mega Man 9 again.
I was talking about tournaments before (i.e. no idea about what to do online other than a well deserved patching that would of course negate this idea), but all you need is to provide controllers (i.e. pads) for those who want pads that have EITHER the analogue stick cropped off OR the D-pad taken off.
Problem solved.
SFIV can’t come out soon enough.
is there any particular reason it doesn’t work on the right side?
A thumbstick (e.g. like the Neo Geo Pocket Color has) on top of a joystick would do the trick.
That is one solution. Another would be to just watch their hands. Currently, most console game tourneys that allow you to bring your own stick/pad (i.e. most) let you in if your pad has a pause button, but pausing mid game is not allowed. I don’t see much difference between these two situations.
EDIT: Enforcement does not mean making something impossible to do; as long as detecting rule breakers is easy, you can stop the match and enforce penalties.
