Holy over-reaction. People can use turbo buttons and crap online too. I’m sure someone could rig up a controller to do dragon punches at the touch of a button or lots of other things. Who cares…
seriously man this isnt that big of a deal. you’re still seriously hindered bad if you use a pad over a stick. wasnt there an xbl player who was absolutely horrible that used a programmable pad? he played sagat i just cant remember his name…actually i think it was X OH MY GOD X or something
If someone actually goes to all that trouble to do that… I don’t care if they beat me at all, in fact I’ll congratulate them for failing at life.
Then I’ll simply hit the start button, select exit, go back to player match and find some other legit player to enjoy the game with and continue on my day.
For what purpose? I’m sure they read these forums, and are fully aware of the bugs; I’m also sure that they won’t fix these bugs. SF4 seems to be getting great reviews, if you were a developer, would you work on a patch for this game when you know most of the people would turn their attention to SF4 in a month? Irresponsible to leave the game in its current state? yes. It’s even more irrsponsible to release the game to the public in its current state. I’m just glad that I learned my lesson for only $15 – don’t rush into buying anything developed by Backbone no matter how much it’s hyped.
This is ridiculous. It most likely will be banned at tournaments. I’m making sure its banned at a tourney I’m doing in 2 weeks. I could care less what people do online. I play online as well. If online dies the game won’t. Fighting games just got online. We can exist perfectly fine without online
Totally agree. This is a stupid thread and will have no impact on the game.
- Most people use arcade sticks, not controllers.
- No one with an IQ over 80 will practice abusing this bug only achievable on the left side of the screen.
- People who resort to using turbo, programmable buttons, or abusing glitches generally suck at the game and lose to better players regardless.
I really want to be in a room where somebody starts doing this and nobody knows how.
You have no fucking clue. Just the mere logistics of trying to stop people from doing this will be a pain in the ass for the tourney scene. Even if it is not blatantly obvious, this is something that can and will be exploited.
how could you possibly abuse this without it being obvious?
While it may be super obvious someone is using it, I think it’s still something that should be fixed. It can only hinder the overall experience by allowing savy users to exploit a bug for unfair advantage.
There’s a difference. Stuff like turbo and programmable pads only allow you to do things that are normally possible with good execution if you are playing legit. In this case though, the cheat is something that you simply cannot do while playing legit no matter how good your execution is. While stuff like turbo/programmable controllers are bad, this is on a totally different level.
On the bright side, I’m betting that this particular bug will probably be enough to guarantee that we get a patch for this game.
I find the idea of walking and blocking rather interesting, people who can make custom sticks can actually exploit it by creating a button to charge and block while walking.
I still don’t get how TZW did it with the Arcade versions (was told it was just cross wiring), it’s not possible to recreate on emulators.
Finally got a chance to play with it, and I was overreacting.
For others who’ve misread (like myself): It allows you to press multiple directions at once, but for movement purposes you can only override the left direction on a stick, with a direction input from the other. You press left, you’ll walk to the left, but you can override that movement with a direction from the other stick (while keeping a left charge). So basically you can maintain free left-charge whenever you want.
(if I missed something someone please let me know)
However! There is one thing that I think IS really dumb, and it’s from holding two directions at once (left and right). You will block any high attack doing this, no matter what. This will block all crossup jump attacks. ALL OF THEM. It’s not hard either. This is also virtually imperceptible.
Would anyone know how I would go about wiring up the left analog direction to a button on my stick? I’ve got 8 buttons… Shouldn’t be too hard with a little bit of homework.
We should seriously post this shit in the Capcom-Unity forums. Capcom’s looking at the glitch threads there.
This doesn’t seem any worse than MVC2 infinites, freaking Roll Canceling in CVS2 (which was complete BS IMO) or the beloved Crouch Cancels in SFA3 so lets just find ways around it like we’ve always done. You can charge store in Classic ST or turn it on in the dip switch settings so I’m not seeing what all the hype and hysteria is coming from.
lmao
Seriously don’t ban it. I want to see the glitch used and abused. It will make the game more interesting. Think about roll canceling in CvS, or wave dashing in Melee.
Then after it settles down and people incorporate it in their play, if it is truly broken then worry about banning it. It makes the game more fun in the state it is right now.
Yeah, that would be find and dandy if this were a shitty game like 3S, but this is ST. A game that has been the flagship capcom fighter forfuckingever, such a retarded option is unacceptable.
You use the pad to input the special / super, and use the stick to input the movement (or vice versa). Works on the left side of the screen primarily but for Chun’s super it has applications on both sides of the screen.
Also you can use this to guarantee blocking a crossup attempt. Just hold the pad left and the analog stick right, then shift the pad to down left and the analog stick to down right. You are a wall of defense
Does this work in previous games such as HF?
