I just got a Hori Rap N for PS4 and I want to put a Korean Lever on it… I have a Crown 309MJ here but I just realized (via watching a video) that the joystick wires are apparently glued and soldered to the board? Am I screwed? How would I even go about doing this now?
There should be a conversion harness you can buy online
I believe I have one already but the wires used for the stock lever are soldered on… would I have to remove them first? Sorry if my questions seem retarded I’m just trying to make sure I get everything right lol
I want to get back into Street Fighter again with the 30th Anniversay coming up. I originally had the Street Fighter IV Tournament Edition Xbox 360 stick. I believe that was Sanwa based and an octo gate.
Can anyone recommend any sticks of similar quality being released now that have the same hardware as the old SF4 TE sticks? It must be dual compatible with PS4 and PC and hopefully available on Amazon UK
Qanba Obsidian, Qanba Crystal or Razer Panthera. Swap the gate for an octo (or just get used to square, like many of us).
Actually looked again to make sure. The TE stick was in fact a square gate. Do your recommendations still stand?
I recommend the Square gate as standard
Yes. I recommend the obsidian.
I don’t like shaft covers or any washers, just a naked stick, dumb or not a big deal?
You’re exposing the metal components to moisture on your hands and the lubed pivot to dust, your stick will not maintain performance
what if I cover the stick when not in use with a sleeve or even napkin that fits around the stick so dust won’t get in? I mean, I can put them back on, just a preference.
There are clear Dust and shaft covers
It’s not really aesthetic, just feels better to me and also i play with the stick at a downward angle sometimes so the washer can go up and down the shaft kind of annoying, but yeah, my other electronics do get dusty so it’s probably not a good idea.
Unfortunately the Obsidian is not easily available here in the UK.
@gameinn3 Well if you’re down for swapping Hayabusa parts with Sanwa, Hori’s HRAP 4 is a tried and true possibility. Some people swear by the Hayabusa stick. It’s a bit too loose for me. I’m not a fan of the buttons at all.
Id have to agree with jopamo on the hyabusa. I only use a 2lb spring on my jlf compared to many who use a 4lb spring as well.
If you want a more ergonomic experience, try the RAP N Hayabusa. The stock parts are decent and you can sell them to fund a Sanwa mod if needed.
If you can manage or prefer the unergonomic Vewlix layout, buy a Venom, take out the clone parts and fit Sanwa. That’s the most common stick in the UK and for a budget option the case is really fucking nice.
Ergonomics (in this context) is 95% personal preference. Hand placement, finger size, arm length, arm/elbow angle and even the width of a person’s chest can strongly affect which layout seems more “ergonomic” than others. Sega 1P/Namco Noir layouts hurt my wrists just looking at them. Vewlix and Sega 2P are equally fine for me. Even Straight-6 American layouts are fine.
Someone else may think my opinions are bogus…hence “personal preference.” The only way for an individual to competently determine what constitutes “ergonomic” (or not) is to try everything out themselves.
