Turn your wiring harness on stick around 180 degrees. Also, don’t use LS, it lags.
You plugged upside-down.
My fightstick sustained a punch that slightly caved and broke one of the buttons. Is this fixable, and who should I go to if it is?
Since you typed FightStick, then I take it you have either a Mad Catz Arcade FightStick or Tournament Edition.
Because FightStick is a trademark of Mad Catz.
Buy a new Button, Sanwa or Seimitsu.
If you have the one not Tournament Edition, then replace all the Buttons.
Because one Sanwa or one Seimitsu will not be same as rest.
If you have stock Tournament Edition, then just get one Sanwa Button.
Button are 30mm.
Buy from Lizard Lick.
All you need is a screw driver or Allen Wrench.
Depends on what you have.
Question about the TE-S.
Is there any way to replace the art without buying plexi from Art? I’m a bit confused on what to do. It seems to have plexi already, but I’m not sure.
If you laminate your art and stick on with adhesive spray.
Because the TE S does not come with Acrylic.
If you want Acrylic, you buy from arthong.
Should it be difficult to remove the buttons from a madcatz TE Chun Li edition? I can’t seem to remove the buttons, even pushing on the tabs on the side.
I want to swap the gold buttons from my MvC TE stick onto the Chun Li edition but I can’t get them out.
So my TE Fightstick decides to randomly not work. Well the buttons work, but the joystick doesnt register anymore. What could be the problem? I’ve only had it for like about 5 months and I dont really play crazy or wiggle it around like a mad man.
i ruined the ‘right’ direction on the PS3 Madcatz SE Fightstick somehow when i was soldering wires for new joystick so i threw away the PCB. can i order something like this to replace that PCB i threw away? will i be able to get this arcade stick to work again with my ps3? if at all?
in my rage that resulted in the PCB’s ultimate end, i did manage to take record of what wires are what and what goes where. also, i kept the buttons that were in front of the PCB (the turbo and playstation home such) just incase.
Move the switch back to ‘DP’.
If you can grab the PCb from the trash, you should; most stuff like that is salvageable. Can you put in a Cthulhu in the stick? Yup. Without the pcb, the home button won’t be available, but the Cthulhu can activate Home by pressing Start and Select, so not too big of a worry. If you’re ok soldering, you can solder the existing USB cable to the Cthulhu, or remove the original cable and get a 15’ USB cable from LizardLick and just plug it into the Cthulhu.

it might be salvagable i guess… i went and dug it out of trash can… maybe a good thing it was in a zip-loc when i chucked it or it’d be covered in soda and pizza sauce o.O so those pictures are the spot where the wires for the joystick would be soldered on and on that right side is where the usb wires came from.
its very chewed up and i dont see how it could be of use… but then again im new at this, ur probably more expierenced and know what ur talking about lol. so what is salvagable from this guy?
Yeah I opened it and all the wires were connected, and I looked and the little switch was on RS -_-
As this is the Absolute Noobie thread, i have an absolute noobie question:
I’m finally looking into getting a stick. I’ve been looking for about 1.5 years now, and it looks like financially it’ll work out in a couple of weeks.
My problem- I’m stuck between doing an AiaB stick, full size, custom, dual modded yadda yadda and just be done with it, however there’s a 4 week waiting period. My other option is a TE stick which i can probably order or find in a store, and have it sooner… now i’m going to look into modding it myself if it’s TE, and i want to get into some other custom work, but that won’t be until next summer.
I’m an old school MvC2 player that recently hooked up my DC so i could play with a stick (to get back into the feel), but as i’m itching to play real people, the TE stick would get my playing again.
As a general opinion, since i have the means of getting a full custom stick, should i wait the 4 weeks and get that? Or is the overall feel of the TE a decent enough reason to go for the instant gratification? (and then do my own shit to it later)?
I’m sorry if these kinds of questions are frowned upon (i read other faqs about this, and i know it’s all personal opinion), but i’ve been wrestling with these options for the past 3 weeks, and i can’t come to a conclusion.
tl;dr edition: Is the instant gratification of a TE enough to justify losing the appeal of a full-blown custom stick? (or is the feel of the high-end custom so much better that i’d be a fool to go TE?)
No one’s going to be able to say until you take some usable pictures of the board. Macro mode is the little ‘flower’ icon on most cameras. Use it.
It’s a pretty big judgement call on your part, and your writeup didn’t include any information about what YOU want. If you were used to and wanted to keep the feel of American parts, then you should go custom, hands down.
AiaB Pros:
Can come dual modded
Custom artwork
Control over every part of the design process (number of buttons, shape of buttons, parts colors)
Wood is heavy (this may be a pro if you’re hard on your toys, or a con if worried about carrying it for long periods of time)
More reliable electronics on 360 (TE 360 pcb is flaky IMHO)
TE pro’s:
Commonality (everyone has one and knows the common problems and fixes for it)
Common interchangeable parts (I mean things like bezels, plexi tops, replacement feet, etc. You have options for aftermarket customization)
Immediate availability
Heh right, what I’M looking for.
Two major components-
-
USB (want it for 360 & PC) which both cover (i was looking at DreamArcade i think it is, and they had wireless, which isn’t useful for my PC… as i’d need a wireless adapter, and that’s just extra bs… along with the wireless ‘ban’ at tourneys, if/when i get there)
-
Headset Jack - i’m a talker. I’m an oldschool gamer and i need to be able to shoot the shit while kickin’ arse
But these are things that are available anywhere.
Oh other possibility is a Start button on the face. Yes, i’m a taunter. Its from the early MvC2 days in the arcade. Old habits die hard
As for stick feel… that’s my question. Is there a noticeable difference between a custom stick compared to a TE that would give enough reason to wait the 4 weeks rather than the instant pickup?
Mind you, i’m coming from a Dreamcast quad-gate stick w/ i have no idea what parts… so my jump to an octo with any type of quality buttons and stick… it’s going to be a world of difference. I just don’t know how big the change would be from the TE to a custom. I know there are differences… i’m just curious if anyone has specific opinions about the feel.
I went through this same back-and-forth in my head when i was DS cart shopping a couple of years ago… and i know that there’s no ‘best.’ And i’m sure it’d be easiest to have a TE and a decent custom in front of me… i just don’t know anyone personally that has either (that’s close by). So i’m trying for the next best thing.
Thanks for not berating me for being another noob with this kind of pre-purchase insecurities. I know these questionings are a dime a dozen
I’m also talking with a custom builder on the boards here, but that only popped up since i typed my original questions.
If anyone else cares to chime in, it’s appreciated… however, i’m trying really hard to find my own info too… so it’s not as utterly needed as i originally thought
My first stick I ever bought was a Round 2 TE. Seeing that your from America your lucky enough to pick up the TEs cheap. I had to buy my for just under $300AUD (AU$ is pretty close to US$ atm). IMO the TE is a very good stick, I’m assuming that buying a custom will cost you alot more compared to buying a TE? The only difference really will be the case (custom, most likely will be a wooden case and TE will be a plastic case). I also have Qanba Q3s, they compare very well to the TEs, maybe you should check them out as well.
Ahh, i wasn’t aware of Qanba. I kinda dig that.
Quick question. Does the Qanba headset jack work w/ 360 headsets? Or do i need a generic headset?
Well, that gave me another idea to look into Thanks!
my SE is out of commision right now. i am, for the most part, completely rebuilding a SE to a customization i like. so ive been waiting for parts to come in the mail, waiting for my pay checks so i have money to get a couple more parts, you know all that jive man. my friend has 2 TEs… it is a good arcade stick out of the box IMO. right now, im wishing i would have gotten a TE and just threw on some custom artwork or something. i believe the TE has good sanwa parts in it because it feels about 100 times better than the SE i have.
lol ty… learn something new everyday. ive decided to just keep the pcb. i guess maybe there will be a darker hour one day lol. but i have the multi console cthulhu on the way so i can hurry up and finish this thing. lol its been so long.
What happened to buying PCB from GeorgeC?
i was waiting to get info from GeorgeC but i want to get parts ASAP to finish this mod so i took initiative and ordered from lizard lick amusements. i sent GeorgeC a message. i appreciate you guys being helpful dont want to be so impatient but this is something that i thought over and would have eventually ordered the cthulhu probably anyway so its money being well spent.
