It’s supposed to be a square. It is the standard for Japanese style arcade joysticks and is preferred by most joystick users when playing fighters as it allows for more room for diagonal inputs, which are crucial for charge based moves.
Turning it 45 degrees turns it into a 4-way stick like jdm714 says, or rather close to it, for playing old school games that are restricted to 4 directions of movement like Pac-man.
The GT-Y is an octagonal shaped restrictor that adds corners for the four main directions (up, down, left, right). This is preferred by some who are mostly new to joysticks and like to ride the gate restrictor.
So I got a JLF somethingerother to drop into my SE. . . I wanna take the Spring out of the stock madcatz stick… I’ve gone through the blood sweat and tears of getting it naked to the actuator…
This E-Clip is the hardest thing in the world to get off. My JLF E Clip comes off. I’ve plied it, pulled it, cut through my fingernails…
This may sound incredibly stupid, but I’d like to know how to compress my TE template into a RAR or ZIP file so I can upload it this site: http://www.tek-innovations.com/arthobbies/?loc=art. I don’t seem to be having any luck so far.
Does anyone know if the stock se stick is supposed to be a cheaper version of the sanwa jlf? I’m wondering because I want to replace the stock joystick with something that’s higher quality, but feels identical to it.
I didn’t find any other thread to ask questions like this so I guess this is it, considering the other posts in here.
I’ve had a TE stick pretty much since the release of SFIV and lately it has begun to drop certain directional inputs.
Assuming I’m player one, it started out dropping :ub:. I opened up the stick, the PCB looked fine as did the microswitches, I fiddled around with them a little bit and suddenly it worked fine. Later on it started dropping :db:, I “fixed it” again and now it’s dropping :df:.
I’m guessing I have to switch out the PCB, microswitches or both but my question is if this is a problem others have had and if it might actually be something else, like a wiring problem or something?
I just got my TE fightstick today and for some reason it refuses to acknowledge any punch input in Street Fighter 4. I can use all of the buttons navigating menus and in other games such as MvC2 but once I bind them in SF4 nothing happens, both on the 360 version and the PC version. Any ideas?
Edit: problem seems to be with the LT button, it feels almost permanently pushed down, I tried mapping inputs in GGPO and it detects it as being held down all the time. I’m kind of disappointed with this since I just took it out of the box, is there any way to fix it?
So I am looking for an arcade stick and I am in a bit of a pickle. I plan on getting a decent stick that will last me until I feel comfortable enough to mod it and add some good parts. From what I hear, the MadCatz SE recommended in is good for modding but on it’s own, won’t last long. Basically I want something that will serve its purpose for the time being and I can mod later. Should I just go with the SE?
I’m sorry for this quesion, i know there’s a lot of threads talking about this, but i couldnt find an answer to this exact issue i’m having.
I just bought a XBOX 360 TE stick, i wanna dual mod it using the PCB that’s already in the stick, is that possible?
I wanna use a PS3/PS2 pcb also cause i want it for the 3 consoles like the mayflash for instance, but for xbox too. Is that possible?
I have a couple of questions. I have the SF4 SE stick and just ordered a Sanwa JLF-TP-8YT-SK. When I hooked the joystick up it feels loose inside. Like when I started playing after awhile the plug fell out and I couldn’t move. I tried plugging it back in, but I think it will just keep happening. Any luck? Second question. I bought a Seimitsu LS-55 Spring and I saw a video of someone using the LS-33 I think for a medium spring. Am I suppose to put the LS-55 in by itself or what?
Hello, I’m somewhat new to this forum, so sorry if I put this post in the wrong section. I’m planning to make this “Universal Printed Circuit Board” or UPCB so I can put it in my HRAP stick. Thing is, I have little to no knowledge of electronics; although I would like to get started. So I guess my first question would be…How do I “make” a UPCB? I couldn’t really find anything on how to do so, except for the assembly part by Toodles on instructables. If anyone can help, it would be most appreciated. Did I mention I’m new?
If you want PS3/PS2/Xbox 1 support, the best thing to do is get a MC Cthulhu and an Imp. The MC Cthulhu is a single PCB that can be used for multiple consoles. Here’s the threadon the Cthulhu (scroll down for the MC version) and here’s a threadon how to mod an SE (applicable to the TE) with a MC Cthulhu. Once you have a MC Cthulhu you can make RJ45 cables for the consoles you need.
If it keeps popping out, try hot gluing the 5 pin connector to the joystick. Just use a little bit so it can be removed if need be.
