Absolute Question and Answer Thread (ASK YOUR QUESTIONS HERE!)

Wired or wireless? Wired, the best one I’ve seen is here:

Wireless is a bit more tricky, but start here:

I’m actually working on finishing up my workblog for a wireless dual mod. I can link to what I have now if you like an dlet you know when it’s done

As for case building, slagcoin is a great place to start. A few other threads here can help as well.

Just figured it out. Yeah, guess the adhesive on the original TE was weaker. Nearly sliced my fingernail in half, but it’s all good.

Now, to work on those damn not-so-quick disconnects…

Can someone help me out?
I just bought a SE Mad catz stick and I want to mod it, where can I find transparent buttons that show the art that’s under the buttons?

Seimitsu PS-14-KN.

AkihabaraShop.jp site.
Lizard Lick.

Thanx! I was confused about if those were LED parts or not.
But nao I knows.

Clear Buttons.
They work LED and art.
Other Buttons would be weird.

Oops, I forgot Seimitsu PS-14-GN(???).

Couple more noob questions:

  1. What size allen wrench do I need for the screws? (An actual measurement would be nice, I have a single allen wrench and want to know if it’s about the right size)
  2. If I get a plexi-glass/artwork combo, do I still need to use adhesive to stick the art on the metal plate?
  3. If so, is rubber cement good enough or do I need something stronger?

3mm.

No.

Not apply.

Painting wood. I’ve seen loads of people here do it and wondered what they use to get such a gorgeous finish.
Sprays or?

To be specific, I’ll be painting MDF.

woah that’s an awesome tut. Thanks!

So I’m having issues with my recently modded TE S…

What I’ve done is I’ve swapped out six of the eight facing buttons and replaced them with Seimitsu screw-in’s. The only two Sanwa buttons that I have left are the two on the far right. However, I disconnected their wires because I originally intended to replace those buttons with fill-in’s (but I bought the wrong size). Also, I’ve replaced my joystick ball with another Sanwa top.

While everything was working just fine for a little while, last night I noticed that neither my “Start” button or my Xbox Guide button works anymore. I cannot begin to fathom how that could have happened, as I never even messed around with the cabling for the Start button nor did I play with the Guide button. Any thoughts as to why these two buttons would suddenly stop working?

Does anyone have a link to a thread about mounting PCB’s? I tried searching but no luck. I swear i read a thread at some point about mounting options…

@Rumler:

Make sure the wires you disconnected are taped up or have some solution so that they aren’t just free roaming, they could make contact with other pieces and cause issues.

If I add laminated artwork to my stick, would the buttons and the 6 screws be enough to hold down the artwork without it sliding around? Or, should I use some type of adhesive as a just in case (spray adhesive or double-sided tape).

Is there any way to transfer music stored on my xbox360 to my pc? I have some music on there that I seem to have lost on my laptop. I’m guessing the answer is no, but any help is appreciated.

I have a feeling that has already happened… :frowning:

@Rumler:
Check your lockswitch on the turbo panel… sounds like you may have accidently activated it while doing your swap…

@tech7:
Spray adhesive works, it’ll make your laminate into a giant sticker =D

~hope that helps ya both… enjoy

On the TE S, the Lock Switch now locks Guide and Start/Back.
Is your Switch on Lock?

I could have sworn that I checked this. I’ll take another look at it when I get home from work, this evening.

With those loose connections, is it possible that I somehow “warped” the circuit board for those switches in a way that I pretty much reversed everything? i.e. “Unlocked” is actually “Locked” and vice versa…

0_o how did u get the idea it warped? lol… u said it yourself that you only disconnected the last 2 button wires correct (LB/LT for 360)? anywayz the worst that would happen if those wires are loose in ur stick is that they would hit a GND spot or something and activate (i.e. it’ll produce an input either 3P of 3K)… worse case scenario of course… with all that said, that still has no relation to ur start and guide button lol since those are different spots… so having those wires loose doesn’t affect guide or start… it’ll probably be ur lockswitch was turned on by accident… just check it first before jumping to conclusions rofl… enjoy
