Hey guys, I want to mount a JLF (unmounted) without having to drill/cut any holes for installation of screws to the case and i heard some people use some sort of epoxy… Can anyone give me any feedback on going that route or what kind is suggested? Also is that stuff stong enuff to take a beating? Im just worried that its gonna act more like super glue and might eventually come off with enough force…
I figured some sort of bonding solution would be an alternative to screws and hole drilling, just that it’ll be permanent pretty much. What’s wrong with using screws?
Besides LizLik, whats another good place to order arcade parts?
Nothing wrong with screws lol… i just want to cut down on the amount of work needed to install em is all rofl… To me it’ll be fast and painless if I just slap the JLF in with epoxy versus having to measure, and then drill and then screw it in… with that said, i just wanted to check if anyone had any problems with lets say the JLF falling off during gameplay and such…
I personally don’t like that solution. So far it isn’t tried and tested. Is i really that much more work to trace the holes on a mounting plate then driving to the store figuring out what the best epoxy is? Also what type of wood? MDF is made in layered fibers so it is possible that the epoxy will hold and the MDF will rip out and still be stuck to the moutning plate. Also with epoxy you have to take the time to hold that shit in place, which is even more time unless you want to slap it on and then let it slowly slide off alignment.
I see too much going wrong with epoxy.
Where can I learn more about square vs. octagonal gates?
I recently purchased a TE ‘S’ arcade stick for my 360. I’ve been using it a bit for the past couple of weeks. However, last night, I really studied how I was playing with it. Most of the characters that I use are those with :qcf: / :hcf: special moves (Shotos, Seth, Dudley, etc.).
Unfortunately, I have a really hard time executing any of these :qcf: / :hcf: moves consistantly (particularly throwing :qcf: to the right). Also, :dp: is even more tough for me (and I REFUSE to use the shortcut alternative). I’ve been practicing for weeks and I’ve seen very little improvement. So last night, I looked at my joystick hand while I was executing moves in training mode. I think that I might have figured out my issue.
The square gate in my joystick is tricking me to believe that I have the joystick in the :d: position when, in reality, it would actually be in either :db: or :df:. Therefore, my questions are as followed:
-
Would it make sense for me to be using an octagonal gate for my joystick, considering the characters that I use?
-
Where can I learn more about modding my stick from a square gate to an octagonal? (Keep in mind that I’m probably going to be selling my TE ‘S’ stick and replacing it with a TE Round 2, here in the near future)
I appreciate any positive responses with this. I’ve already learned so much from you guys in the past few months that I’ve been reading on here. Thanks!
ok first there is no need to replace the stick stick for round 2. All the TE’s come with all sanwa parts. learning how to mod your TE is ridiculously easy, use the search function to find all you need here ~.^ now a little info about octo vs square gates was in the second post of this thread… but like it says its all due to preference, but i would highly suggest you spend the $5 and get yourself one of these, it should help a lot. now with most of the sites shipping is going to be ridiculous for just the gate so you probably want to wait till you make a big order, maybe new colored buttons and a balltop for the stick. you can find parts Here and here
thanks
Simple question.
What size balltop is used on a madcatz TE stick? 35mm or 40mm? Replacing mine for mod purposes and wasn’t sure which it is (Don’t particulary have a ruler handy since I’m only replacing that and the buttons XD)
I believe it’s 35mm.
Thankies Stephen
Oh and I think you missed one line off your signature that I can think of XD
Well the Stick is a sanwa stick (35mm standard) so you could go with this or this or go hereor there
I do not believe it is 35mm.
I know it is 35mm.
Laugh.
So who you going to trust?
.Cobra or I?
Am going with Akihabara Though thanks for the suggestions.
@ Jdm: .Cobras a good friend so personal bias is going to have to get in the way sorry laughs

Got a quick question, would appreciate a bit of help.
My custom fight stick just broke. I tried fixing it but it’s not working.
Anyway, that’s besides the point.
I have a sanwa jlf and sanwa buttons, can anyone recommend me a cheap stick that I can drop my parts into?
I know about the Madcatz SE, is there anything that less expensive that will work? I don’t want to solder anymore hahaha
Thanks

HELP!!! I finally got my PS3 SE back after having to have my Dad tack weld the mounting plate back on cuz it was a shoddy weld to begin with and snapped off. So I put my Sanwa JLF in that I ordered for it. Screw the plate on the bottom back on. Hook it up to the PS3 to test it out and everything works fine except I CAN’T JUMP!!! Can anyone help me trouble shoot this or tell me what I need to do to correct it. I have a big tourney coming next Saturday (MWC) and this is my only Ps3 stick. Did I need to do anything to the JLF before putting it in?
