Absolute Question and Answer Thread (ASK YOUR QUESTIONS HERE!)

What thickness of plexi is generally used for a custom if you don’t want any screws on top?

Only place I can think of posting before making a thread.

Not stick related and I apologize, feel free to yell at if it’s in the wrong place.

Easycap. Managed to get it all plugged up and everything, but my computer won’t pick up any signal whatsoever, I’ve had it search through all of the tv channels and nothing.

I have my PS3 running off HDMI so it’s not affixed to any specific channel so I thought this might be my problem.
If it is the case, anyone know how I can affix it? If it’s even possible?

i’ve been looking around the tech forums and i can’t seem to find what i’m looking for. i haven’t been given a straight answer yet by anyone, but is it possible to dual mod a PS3 TE to work on 360 also? i heard something about rewiring the insides to making the PS3 the slave board but i don’t know what parts to buy to do that.

if anyone has a link saved or knows of one that would explain this or if someone here could give me a quick answer i’d greatly appreciate it.
i really don’t want to have to sell my ps3 TE just so i can buy a 360 TE to mod. i will once i exhaust all my options.

is this thing any good

all i can find is stuff about 1.0

If you want your bevel/plastic to chip, rub, and eventually lose the new coloring. Go with paint. If you like having a mess, taking a lot of time, multiple coats, and clear coating; go with paint.

If you want to do it correctly and have it last; use vinyl dye.

Yes, its possible to dual mod a PS3 TE’s pcb with a 360’s pcb… the only difference i believe btwn the 2 processes is that having a 360 pcb just makes life easier… Now to do this you have many options open to you “but” before you can even do anything about it, you will need a 360 pcb since there are no custom boards available that emulate one… your easiest choice right now (availability and tutorial wise) is to padhack a Madcatz xbox 360 controller… from there i can suggest 3 choices which i’ll also provide with links that you can refer to:

  1. Dual-mod with a physical switch - http://www.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=186050
  2. Dual-mod with an Imp board by Toodles - http://www.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?p=8371462#post8371462 [This is actually rtdzign’s explanation using an MC Cthulhu but i believe the concept would be the same when wiring up just a regular PS3 pcb… i cud be wrong since i haven’t done this myself just yet but if so, someone wud probably correct me]
  3. Dual-mod with a Master Strike board by purplearms and bencao http://www.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=229306
…oh and heres a link to the padhacking thread: http://www.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=197388
ok, there you go… basically 3 options on what you can do… do your research and enjoy…

Just got my first stick in the mail today (TE)

is it normal for it to have a few scratches on the white bezel and around the cord holder?

You know the kind you have to look under the light to see…

just curious…and anal…

I didn’t know where to go to ask this question but my dog bit through my usb cord for my PS3 TE stick. How would I replace the USB cord cause my dog bit it in 2 different spots.

  1. right around the base of the plug leaving about 1/2 inch of space between the base of the USB and the actual cord.
  2. And about 6 inches down from the USB plug.

So basically my cord is in 3 pieces. What type of USB would I need to buy (male A to B etc.) and how would I go attaching it to the stick. Pardon my way of referring to the sticks parts but this is the noob thread.

I also bought this stick on Sunday at Gamestop. Is it possible to return the stick back in exchange for a new one? Anyone have this kind of thing happen to them?

Gamestop will definitely not take your stick back after what happened with your dog, so that option is out.

You best option here is to replace the USB cable completely. Any USB cable with one end being “A” will do. You will need to cut off one end of the cable, splice the 4 wires and solder them directly to the PCB. You other option is basically the same, except you splice the current USB cable onto the new USB cable.

You might give MadCatz a call. They might be able to send you a new cable, or new PCB with USB cable attached if you aren’t handy with a soldering iron. Worth a shot.

It’d be a shame to lose that loooooooooong 15’ cord.

Thanks for the info. I will try to splice a usb cord with the remaining cord attached to the current TE cord. Is there any guides on the site that could help me with this cause im not too good at soldering.

So I have a 360 TE and would like to be able to play Ps2 games with it. What’s the cheapest/easiest/best solution to this? Dual-modding it with a psx controller? MC Cthulhu? Something else?

I’ve also considered buying a ps2 stick, but those seem to be pretty hard to find and expensive + shipping ouside Europe like doubles the price.

Hey guys.

Sorry if this was asked before, but I was just wondering if there are any significant differences between the Round 1 and Round 2 TE Sticks from Mad Catz? Amazons selling the Round 1 for $99 and I’m tempted to take them up on it. This will be my first ever stick.

Nothing.
Not even less than significant.

It’s the exact same stick dude…just different artwork…

Does anyone else notice a slight squeaky noise on the TE’s when you dash down?

Thanks guys. I had to be sure because of the amazing $42 difference lol. I appreciate it.

I was wondering if someone could recommend me a good soldering iron. I hear Weller is the way to go. Anything will help, thanks!

Quick question:

I’m changing my HRAP3 to all seimitsu buttons

Should I get PS-14K’s or PS-14KN’s? What’s the difference between nut and uhh… non-nut?

Snap-in, Screw-in.

And PS-14-K can take Sanwa SW-68 Microswitches perfectly.
PS-14-KN can take Sanwa RS-SG Microswitches, but won’t be perfect.

SW-68 Microswitches are in the standard Sanwa Buttons.
RS-SG Microswitches are in the heavy-duty Sanwa Buttons.

Thanks for the quick reply! So I should get the 14KN’s then? Or are the 14K’s easier to install?
