Absolute Question and Answer Thread (ASK YOUR QUESTIONS HERE!)

Yeah, I was thinking of going for an MC Cthulhu mod.

Thanks for your help, Jamin.

Okay, once again, two dual modded madcatz SE’s … They are guilty gear themed custom artwork… One is the old fashioned PS3 stock stick, DPDT switch mod, and the other is a 360 stick modded with a chimp, both sticks are full sanwa mods and one has an octo gate. just got the vinyls today to put on them. PRICE CHECK. What would you pay for each as they are both in like new condition? These are the skins straight out the photoshop.

P.S. I know this is a question for the trading outlet, but apparently I don’t have 50 posts yet… I need to be more dedicated to srk w/ my questions I guess.

I just contacted madcatz about it, I told the agent the issue and he said that it might be a problem with the joystick and so that they were gonna send me a new Joystick for me to replace it, said it was really easy and quick, I hope the squeakyness goes away when I replace the stick, give them a call if your warranty hasn’t expired yet, someone had mention that it might of been the screws around the stick not tight enough as well, well gonna find out when it gets here =)

The going price for full Sanwa SE’s these days is about a hundred shipped on ebay. With the octo, custom art and Chimp you might be able to squeeze an extra 25-30 or so dollars out of it if you find someone who really wants those things.

Oh and by the way, I have another ps2 Dual Shock A model that doesn’t have any corresponding schematics on slagcoin, I could take some pictures

Hi guys, I thought this would be the right place to ask my question. I am still in the process of acquiring information for my first build. I want to build the case by myself. But something is bugging me. What are good dimensions for the case? I was thinking about A4 paper dimensions for the artwork, so I could easily print artwork myself. But then I thought, the artwork will look much better if it is bigger then A4. And if my artwork is bigger, my stick will be bigger and I could rest my hands on the stick.
So what are good dimensions for a stick? Or just for the artwork?
Thanks!

I’ve been meaning to buy a stick recently, an eight arc to be exact.

Thing is I’m undecided between the PS3 Onyx, and the Fusion

I like the onyx’s features more, but eight arc stated they won’t be restocking it.

Which made me think they want people to buy their Fusion more. I don’t really have the need for a dualmodded stick but is it all that?

what to store to buy a Custom Art Templates for TE Stick can yall give me a website link.

templates are free online. you don’t need to pay to download a template. did you search for TE template?

Hi folks

I was at a Scottish tournament this weekend, and tried to make sure that every setup I played on was set up as follows:

  1. Xbox internal resolution set to 720p to minimise internal causes of input lag
  2. Screen set to “gaming”/“game” mode, to switch off dynamic contrast and other post-processing effects.

I’m wondering if instead I should have set the 360s to the screen’s native resolution and set the screen to standard mode? It’s been bugging me for a few days and I hope someone can provide a good rule-of-thumb answer.

Yes, you should absolutely set the 360 to output at the monitor’s native resolution. The internal scaling of the 360 is likely to be faster than the scaling that the display will perform.

hey, i’ve been playing on controller pads all my life and i thought maybe i should buy a madcatz fightpad, but i have no idea how to customize it. i’ve seen everyone’s fightstick with cool artwork on it and i was wondering if it can be done on pad? if so how do i get a custom fightpad?

I’ve been thinking of piecing together my own arcade stick from scratch, but I wonder: what is the best dual-capable (PS3 and 360) standalone PCB to use? I thought of using a Paewang, but I keep seeing how people are getting a lot of issues with those. I need to make sure before I buy anything.

so… i thought the art on the new madcatz sfxt stick was gross. i tore off the sticker and scraped off the sticky stuff underneath with some good ol’ WD40. the residue came off to be sure, but my xbox guide button/module thing wasn’t working, so (likeabaws.jpg) i removed the old pcb underneath the guide button module and replaced it with one from a first-run TE.

all the buttons now work fine, with the exception of the start and back buttons. the old TE xbox guide module is missing a seventh pin connector on the CN 5, something that would normally connect to “KGROUND” on the pro stick’s motherboard. Now i don’t know if it’s this kground thing i’m missing, or if i just have an errant drop of WD40 somewhere on my mobo. thanks for any help.

p.s. i did try turning the “lock” switch to “unlock” on the guide module. still no start/back button.

Need some converter help.

I have that ^.
Essentially it needs a controller plugged into it so that the other controller can work. I’ve done this.
But it isn’t picking up any input from an arcade stick. Why? It should work.

EDIT: It will register buttons on 3s oe. However The actual stick’s directional inputs aren’t registering at all however. Trying ssf4 ae 2012 now.

RE-EDIT: Same issue on ae2012. Buttons are ok. Stick is not.

I am absolute noob in terms of arcade sticks. I have the MadKatz SF4 SE, which I got on sale years ago, and I wasn’t a fan of it. It might be because I didn’t give it enough time, but I did find things awkward, like how it kept sliding while I was trying to do moves, and sometimes the moves didn’t register.

Anyway, looking into either modding(last option), or buying a new stick. I heard the Qanba Q4RAF is really good, but 150 is a little high. I can manage that much, but not till after Anime Boston/PAX. I really like how it has a handle and felt bottom. I do want to personalize it with a cool face plate, is this possible with this stick?

Are there other options? I don’t want to go over 150 dollars, and I want something that works on the PS3(also working on 360 is a bonus), can have changable face plates, and has something so it doesn’t slide while I try to use it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
