if your going to do a laminent over the print just use regular print paper they provide… its good to go… but yea… 90lb card stock PLUS laminent is damn bullet proof… you will have a bitch of a time cutting through that mess ( I did it before I knew better and regret it).
Since Arcade in a Box is now closed with little hope of coming back, I was wondering where it would be possible to get a stick like the ones they make.
I need a circle gate stick with custom artwork, seimitsu clear buttons that allow the artwork to go on top of them, and functionality on PC/PS3/360. I don’t really want a Madcatz stick because I much prefer the look of AIAB’s sticks, and would rather NOT just get a plexiglass cover over a vinyl sheet with my artwork on it. AIAB’s sticks look much better in comparison to that, which leads me to my next question, how do they get the images on the sticks? Do they paint it on or something? What’s that process called and how do I get a stick like that now that they’re closed?
Hi. it’s my first time here. I hope my question won’t be too stupid too ask.
now I own an Arcade cabinet of a Noir (TekkenTagTournament2) I just wonder if anyone here can give me a clear answer that, If I ever want to use PS3 controller. to be used instead of the normal controller and buttons that come witht the cabinet. please help me.
Because many of my customers ask if they can use PS3 controller that would be good for them. They are not used to use Joystick and not willing to learn how to use it. if they can that means I’m gonna have more customers and will become advantage point against other local operator.
If you like the clickity click of microswitches than you need to look into American style buttons. Normally these are much less sensitive than Japanese buttons, but Paradise Arcade Shop sells 20g switches that you can have put in any American style button. If you like Convex (flat) buttons then you want IL Competition buttons, if you want Concave buttons I would recommend either IL or Xenox (sold as “Asian short barrel” on the Paradise website). I’m personally a big fan of the Xenox buttons because they feel really clicky while being sensitive, and they are concave while being pretty shallow unlike the IL’s which are pretty deep.
Hey everyone get ready some noobtastic questions. I just bought a HRAP V3 SA and it’s 100% stock.
I was wondering where I can find a Template so I can change the art on the stick, along with info on what I should print the decal out on or if I should just have it laminated then stick it on there.
Is there a specific way to alter the button color? I really just want to know the safest way to paint or dye the buttons and ball. This is probably basic stuff that can be solved with common sense, but this is my first stick and I don’t want to mess it up.
Finally I know very little of modding a fightstick, has somebody made a list, or maybe a thread, of mods that can be done to a fightstick, just so I can get a better grasp on what I could do with my stick to get it to show my style and flare?
Having sampled arcade sticks before, and realizing that atm, no options are working for me, I really want to work full-time with a stick (since my current gaming unit is a computer keyboard, not having any consoles).
However, I’ve run into a few problems whilst using sticks:
1)I am dominantly a right-handed gamer. Most, if not all, of my stick movements would come from the right hand (since I grew up using the arrow keys for movement instead of the WSAD keys). The problem here is the same as most computer setups - while I am actually a lefty, I spent most of my years developing an ambidexterity to use computers and the like. This has the problem of making my movements seem awkward, leading directly to…
2)As a new FG initiate, I am extremely shoddy and lacking in confidence for execution. Many who have seen me play tell me a stick would help me get over this (supposedly, the sound of the clicking and the heavy resistance of the stick wall is supposed to help with execution), but it so far has not.
As desperate as I am to switch to a stick, if it doesn’t solve execution problems in the long run, then what do you suppose I should do?
And if I do get a stick somehow, would it have to be custom built to support a right-handed movement algorithm?
Keep in mind that I’ve only applied this to keyboards, as consoles I can use a left-handed algorithm and not feel totally off.
@Hero of South Town, thanks a ton for the recommendations! I grew up on the American arcades and I’m a giant fan of slightly concave buttons with the microswitches. I’m gonna go check those out and see what I can snag.
Thanks! The reason why I asked about painting is because I love the Sanwa buttons, but I want 2 neon green, 2 purple, and 2 cyan colored buttons, and as far as I’ve seen sanwa doesn’t have those colors, I’ve seen green but I haven’t found purple or cyan, I’m trying to make my whole stick have this color scheme. What are other popular mods I can do? and what will equipment will I need to dual mod my HRAP V3 SA?
I just myself finished my full custom stick, and for the artwork, I tried different things. To sum up, if you want to have a really good looking artwork, with deep and bright colors, go for the photo paper without any doubt. The regular printing paper can provide good results though, but you’ll have to go for a quite thick paper and still it won’t be as good as photo paper. Regular paper is always a bit transparent and the ink is kinda sucked by the paper so you won’t have the best quality of printing and colors.
To cut the button/stick holes, just put your plexi on the printed and cut artwork, and follow the circles on their inner side with a cutting knife or Xacto.
Darn, I’m already doing that. I was hoping for an even more effective magical method… c’est la vie. Thanks for the tip on the paper. What kind of photo paper do you use? Legal photo paper is a bitch to find I’m noticing.
Well, I’m quite equipped ; I’ve got a Brother A3 printer and they gave some paper samples with it. So I had a couple of A3 photo paper sheets… The printing quality was very very good, and if you want to look for the same paper it’s called Brother photo paper BP71. BP71 is the “premium photo paper blablabla fap fap” but there’s another one called the BP60, which I guess stands for normal quality paper. I guess that there’s not much differences… Just buy two or 3 different photo paper sheets and run some trials.
What do you mean by “legal” ? (sry i’m french…) You mean A4 size ? Well for me it doesn’t seem to be such a problem…
Hey guys I have a quick question during weekly ranbats I sometimes get setup on the side setups or consoles to play my matches, often I find myself not being able to hear the game, since this place is an actual arcade and either beatmania or the main cabinet has some huge speakers blowing out sound, my question is this, it seems like they have the Asus evo monitors for the side setups, is it possible to hookup my headphones to it while also having the sound come from the built in speakers? I really love hearing the game, and dislike listening to my own music while playing
