Thanks Toodles & Nerrage!
I think that I will just ditch the Select button idea. I only wanted it because of Samurai Shodown for the PS3 needs the select button to get through menus and online.

Quick newbie question, but what’s a good way to test for lag on a monitor setup?
For example, if the CRT shows 3:27:33.229 and the LCD shows 3:27:33.198 the difference is 229-198 = 31ms or about two frames.
I have a PS3 TE but i think the PCB fried somehow when me and my friends played on his pc so i want to dual mod it for PS3/PC/360
so im not sure do i buy the Dual Strike V2 or the Dual Strike V2, Dual Strike v2 TE Dual Mod and the Piggyback connector?
take pictures of the dual mod. its pretty hard to “fry” a pcb. it may just be wired wrong.
we didnt make an attempt yet. was still a stock PS3 TE stick we played on it for a good 3hours on his PC then stopped but when we tried to play again it didnt work. then we opened the top part of the stick and smelled like something burned. so should im thinking about dual modding now but checking with madcatz if i can get a replacement first.
EDIT: i wanna check with them before i open so i dont void the warranty.
well that doesnt sound good… if you do open it take a pic of the insides… I think something like that happened before and was posted here but I dont remember where…
alright gotcha ill make call up Madcatz soon and we’ll see what happens after that. btw do you know off that site which parts i’d need to buy in order to dual mod the TE?
if its a PS3 your cheapest way would be an Imp/fightpad hack… LL carries the Imp you can google the madcatz fightpad to find the cheapest deals on one…
Lizard Lick Amusements
$19 on amazon.com atm Amazon.com: Xbox 360 Street Fighter IV FightPad - Chun-Li: Video Games but I’m sure there are cheaper…
if your PCB is FRIED and madcatz wont replace it… a ChimpSMD/fightpad hack will work perfect… lizardlick also caries that
you uneasy with dual mods hit me up and I can help walk you through it… if the dual mod threads confuse you… as it does with some first timers…
=D Thanks ALOT!!! i will for sure if i have problems. thank again
hey could someone help me find the drivers to make a ps3 te work with vista lol. it would be much appercaited cause i want to play ggpo bad lol.
Does anyone know of a reliable online retailer for powertools and accessories. The home depot near me isn’t cutting it. No pun intended, promise.
I’ve bought bits off of mytoolstore.com and I think Harbor Freight ships – their tools are cheap but passable, especially for light hobbyist work.
I got a new stick and converter and I’m trying to use them on Wii for Accent Core. The stick is the PS2/Xbox anniversary edition. The converter is a “Game Elements” PS2 to Gamecube converter. Me and my friend were trying to play GG with him as player one set to a classic controller. Mine was set to Gamecube since that’s the type of plugin I was using via the converter. However, I couldn’t use the stick. At all. Even to control menus. What’s wrong here?
Not sure where this question should go, but for some reason my stick’s heavy punch when pushed appears to input the Hp about 60 times a second… I play chun, if i change it to Mk is it cheating?
Yes, it is cheating because you turned on Turbo. Turbo is a no-no everywhere. Turn off turbo.
Need help with something. My friend has a Round TE that is relatively new, he had it about a month and it wasnt used much, every now and then it would not read when you input down on the joystick. It quit acting up for a couple weeks so I went ahead and put on custom art, plexi, Sanwas and balltop that he wanted. Then a couple days later it again wouldn’t read the down input. I took it apart and noticed that now one of the small black pieces of wire (there are like ten or so pieces glued together in a strip) that go into the joystick has come out of its place. I stripped the wire and held it into the hole its supposed to be in and tested it and the down input still doesn’t work. I know his warranty is probably voided since we have customized it, so does anyone know how I could fix this without him having to buy a whole new joystick?
you can look around to see if anyone has a wireing harness for a TE for sale and hope that it has the correct harness to just replace… redo the harness yourself that would possibly require some soldering…or buy a premade harness from LL and re-solder but holding it in place might not of been enough to fix the problem… you might not have had connection doing that in the first place. It could be anything from a bad wire to a bad microswitch to even the switch not being on “DP”
It might be in the converter. I have a PS to Gamecube adapter as well, and it only works with my Dualshock controllers, meaning they have analog sticks. The PSX controllers without analog sticks don’t work with it and neither does my friend’s Tekken PS2 stick.
Try it with some dualshock controllers and see how that goes.
