Absolute Question and Answer Thread (ASK YOUR QUESTIONS HERE!)

Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere, but I just want to make sure:

Does the Pelican Real Arcade Stick come stock with happ parts? I’m trying to replace the worn buttons off my old one (as well as trim the box up a bit and apply a nice walnut veneer to it), and I don’t want to get stuck with the wrong-sized buttons when I order them.

EDIT: Nvm, did some searching and found everything I needed here.

Quick question,

I have HRAP3 SA and two of my buttons gets abit stuck when pressing them (as if it has some sticky thing under them).

I opened the stick seperated the buttons from the plate and PCB. Now, how do i open up the button to clean up inside of it?

First pop out the plunger. There are 2 holes on the side of the button where the plungers are clipped. Pry those in and pop out the plunger. You should be able to see the microswitch now. Pop out the microswitch by pushing the sides in. On the microswitch you should see two more snap in tabs. Pry those open with a screwdriver and your sanwa button should be fully disassembled

Has any one done a neutrik RJ-45 jack with the Joytron Paewang PCB? I am trying to find some pictures/tutorial on how to do it. Any help is greatly appreciated!

It is very similar. Just connect the signals, ground, and VCC much like any other dual mod, as explained in the guide, leave the Paewang in 360 mode (As the MC Cthulhu will cover PS3, anyways), and use the D± of the Paewang in the guide provided.

Ok, so we have this new(?) trimod pcb available at places, as i’ve been seeing. Can i replace my TE PCB with that, to then hook up an MC(rj45) for relatively easy mass-multiconsoling of my stick?

Yes, but MC Cthuhlu covers PS3 and PC. You can use it, yes, but you’ll only be using it for its 360 mode. You will also need to get a USB A/B cable, and cut off the A end, plug the B end into the akishop port, then use the exposed D± wires with an Imp or DPDT, as well as GND and VCC with the MC Cthuhlu. Since you already have a TE PCB, I’m assuming it’s 360. You should just use that PCB with MC Cthuhlu and Imp or DPDT, because that’s the only part of the akishop PCB that you’ll use, the 360 part. The rest will be covered by MC Cthulhu.

Is it a 360 PCB? If so, don’t bother, it’d be a waste to replace it with the p360 pcb.
Is it a ps3 PCB? If so, don’t bother because a Fightpad is cheaper, and the Cthulhu will cover the PS3, and the new Imp may support auto-detect.
tl;dr its overkill.

This is what I’ve been thinking. I’d work with one if it was an empty case job, but as long as I have a starter pcb then I’m going that route.

I’d work with one if the criteria for the stick was 360 and PS3.
But using it with an MC Cthulhu is fuckin overkill. Considering you can pick up the 360 Fightpads for around $20, and its not like those are hard to solder to.

I’m actually shifting around pcbs from my TE, and SE that I’m giving to my two brothers because I refuse to use the PS360s for dual mods, because its a stupid idea.

Yeah. It’s good very conditionally. The darn fact that you need a turbo button is all that gets me. I wouldn’t mind even needing a DPDT for it, then it would be nice. But I still would like fightpad and ChImp or Dualstrike SMD.

Well, we can just hold out our hopes tha the new Imps do infact have Auto-detection when they come out… speaking of which, I now have both of my sticks pcbs all wired up, and I need those imps! :[

Yeah, I used my Imp helping a friend dual mod his PS3 TE. The new one wouldn’t have done him any good, anyways. Heh.

Haha sounds good. I’ve had a MC Cth & Imp waiting on my wishlist on LizardLick for a bit now, i was just thinking about the lack of soldering, and buying in pieces (have dual mod now, add MC later). However, since i AM running a 360TE, i’ll just go for the MC/Imp combo on which i’ve already planned. Thanks again guys.

PS- Doing my first customizing for my wife for xmas. It’s an SE thats Sanwa’d and custom art, so nothing MAJOR (but hey, it’s still my first :p), but i’m hoping it’ll look badass enough for her. Just mentioning since you cats have helped me a bunch  Look for it in the stick thread.

understandable. But if you’re working with a Cthulhu, you’re kinda gonna need soldering anyway.
If you’re afraid of soldering, hit me up. Not sure how far out you live, but if you can make it out to Willow Grove/Glenside I can help you out.

Two get good at soldering, you need to do two things beforehand:

 1. Watch this video:

 2. Understand that you will burn yourself at least once, and that it does not hurt after the first few minutes.

After those two things, the rest just comes with doing it.

More burns = more XP gain. No pain, no gain.

Absolutely the truth. I burned my self so many times. From holding on to the wire too long to just blatantly grabbing the wrong end. HA.

I only burned myself once with an iron. Afterwards I started doing smart things, like using a pair of helping hands, or tape to hold down wires to get everything clean.

My mother once severely injured her hand through a soldering iron burn. She had just gotten into work and wasn’t feeling well, so she wasn’t on top of her game. First thing she does is turn on her iron to let it heat up. After moving some stuff around she notices her tip is getting pretty grotty so she picks up her iron and grabs the tip to twist it off. It had finished heating up by then. That was not a good day for her. (She worked in jewelry at the time, not electronics.)
