i’d want int to be like that if you’ll be able touse two Ultras in a match, but if you have to chose between it and Soulless before a fight(SF3 style), then it should be AA and ground.
The problem I’ve always had with Abel is that the mixups just aren’t mixing it up. CoD can go high, low, or you can try to trick them and go for TT. However, the solution to this is when you see CoD, block high, because you can block the low strings on reaction or jump or mash out a dp if he delays long enough for a TT. It’s a built-in mixup with too many safety measues that make it easy to avoid, and on top of that, it’s punishable.
I hate to suggest this, because I’m pretty much stealing it from K’, but I think it would suit Abel best to have the option of cancelling CoD into roll, similar to how K’ can cancel Ein Trigger into Blackout.
I don’t really think it’s the specials that needs to be adjusted. I only have two request: do something useful with the far standing forward and roundhouse. I have no idea whatsoever when far s.MK could be a viable option. The roundhouse is not as useless but could certainly be better. Damage, range, speedup. Really, anything’s fine with me.
And replace his super with a takedown and some ground and pound, that would be awesome.
I posted this in the Abel section but this thread seems more active so I’ll post here. Don’t yell at me if this is a crap suggestion but I’d like EX CoD to be a bit faster, allowing you to hit through moves such as Gief’s lariat or Akuma’s s.HK consistently without taking a second hit. I know you can get through them some (most?) of the time but having a less risky option would be good. Not so fast as to hit through everything but certain moves like those I mentioned.
Also j.MK seems a bit hard to time when the jump is vertical, a bit hit window (is that the right term?) would be good.
yea this is pretty much how i try and scrape an extra bit of damage when fighting gief is try a couple of repeated TTs on his wakeup and hope he went for a SPD or his ultra and not a lariat ha ha
I am not sure if it has already been said if so I missed it on the read through and I am sorry. I say give him only -1 recovery on block for his light punch CoD. Make it a viable move out of just using it in a string.
Also maybe fix a few character specific things like Fuerte missing the 2nd hit on c.hp like said before.
^What if that was his alternate costume? Be kinda cool to see big-man Abel with bandages around his chest and all. and the Gi doesn’t haven’t to be ripped up like Ryu’s/Akuma’s/Gouken’s, it could just be loosened off like in that artwork. Would be a decent alternate… definitely better than the wrestling singlet. Or have the singlet loosened so the straps are along the waist (think Kurt Angle) and have bandages.
I really would like cr.lk, cr.lp, close standing mp to work on the entire cast. I’d also like to be able to do it without a f.mk first but that’s asking a bit much… Make 2nd low a little faster. Give me a weak, knockdown I can combo into with fair difficulty from a poke (or just adapt my first suggestion a bit more).
This last one may be overdoing it as well but IMO if akuma has a almost completely safe wake up teleport why can’t they at least make abel’s roll hit invincible on startup and change the property of ex roll to buff it in some other way.
I think hes need just a bit better priority on normals… everything else is fine.
Considering if Skyfall did work as anti air he would be too powerful… which is why I think they changed abel from the first version of SF4. If you go look at early vids he was much quicker… even his sweep came out and recovered faster.
Maybe even make his super not be abel… (lol) to be beat by strong and fierce normals.
I hate getting hit by cr.strong with ryu especially when I know hes gonna do a crouching normal or something , and not to mention its a grab super… lol I mean come on?
