Abel Moveset and Attributes

Nice.

I feel young all of a sudden. lol

Anyway I just got madcatz TE yesterday (i already own a hrap3 with sanwa buttons though) and im pissed because the MK button(circle) has a problem. The button sinks in and sometimes stuck when I push it. I guess im stickin to my hrap3 till i find a solution for that.

Sorry to hold up the thread guys I didnt want to clutter up your section so didnt start a new one)… I’m a Ryu player, but this may or may not interest you…

I’ve started a new tournament style of training in the Ryu section, only to realise that we need all the characters to be represented. To those who are dedicated on imporoving and helping others to do so, please have a quick look at the thread here : http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=200770

EDIT : changed link as it wasnt working.

anyway we can get an edit to the 1st page?

the OP for many of these abel threads disappeared. not gonna happen

to fix this just open up your TE and take out that button. After that, just open the button up (shouldnt be that hard) and clean the inside. This sometimes happens because theres interference inside the actual button, but once you actually clean it there shouldnt be a problem.

If it still gets stuck i would suggest switching the circle button with one of the far right buttons (if you dont use them, but since you’re an arcade player i hope you dont ).

lol yeah i thought of replacing the button with L1/L2 too but i think imma try what you suggested first and if that failed to solve the problem, i’ll just use my hrap3 while waiting to get a new button.

thanks for the advice.

I had a match against my friend and he used Zangief. He used the throw move where Zangief moves forward and then grabs you. I used my super (MP) and lost, got thrown by him. Does Zangief’s throw moves count as throw or will he always win?

You probably whiffed and then got thrown. The range on Abel’s super isn’t that good really. There might be something I’m missing, though.

Also, poking with far s.mp is okay, but it whiffs on crouchers, which is very bad. cr.mk/far s.lk/step kick is safer.

Against running grab just wait for him to get close, nuetral jump and come down on his dome with roundhouse into combo

I’ve been finding that EX roll doesn’t work on wake up against meaty attacks such as a well timed Rufus dive kick or Dictator’s s.HK although its suppose to be hit invincible. Anyone having similar experiences or is it just a matter of the wakeup timing being very tight against meaty attacks?

If you get a reversal EX Roll, it’s completely safe except for throws. However, they can ā€˜meaty’ the end of your roll and force you to block immediately.

If they properly time their attack, they hit you… not force you to block. Roll has 1 frame vulnerability coming out of it.

Must be my execution then. I just find doing reversal EX roll harder than doing reversal shoryu for some reason. Will try mashing EX roll on wake next time.

Fought two Hondas last night and I’m pretty sure that a reversal butt slam has armour breaking properties on its way down. Will need to test it out after work to confirm but it would make sense it is not a 2 part move.

As far as I know, EX roll does not have the frame of vulnerability that others do.

Abel’s ultra traded with a lp shoryuken from Ryu. Abel hit Ryu with the first hit and Ryu had the stomach hit look, but about the same time Abel was hit with the shoryuken and was knocked out of the ultra. How did that work?

I accidently did a FS after a FS traded. I didn’t know there was time to juggle after trading FS.

I’m a new Abel player, just started using him yesterday and I’ve been getting raped by everyone.

I’ve been reading this thread and there’s useful info, so much appreciated.

I main Guile and I’m fairly good with him, would some of you compare Abel’s normals to be as good as Guile’s normals?

^^What I’m really trying to say is, Guile’s c.HP is insanely good, does Abel have anything even close?

I’m having a hard time with jump ins, and I can’t really combo his rekka after HP…or after anything. So difficult for me for some reason.

Having a bitch of a time on Hard Trial 2.

Anyway, thanks for the info and insight. The more I read the more I understand how Abel should be played. Since I’ve been maining Guile since the game came out, I’ve been trying to sonic boom and flash kick all these assholes that are beating me. It’s just instict, I guess.

Lol no. Abel’s normals kinda suck compared to Guile’s. Anti-air cr.hp is very good, and you can ultra off of it if you hit with the last hit, but cr.mk is much better as anti-air. Against crossups, you need to either roll away, do close s.hp, or jump back hp.

Cr.mp xx lp Change of Direction is the best way to land Abel’s Change of Direction unless you’re close. As far as comboing off of hp, go into training and make sure your inputs are right. You have to cancel after the first hit of close s.hp. You can’t get both hits.

ryu’s dp beats out alot of ultras in the game. I saw a vid at evo of it, where ryu would bait with fireballs for an ultra and then dp them out of it

What options does Abel have on his wakeup?

I know roll is one of them, if he doesn’t get grabbed.

That’s pretty much the only one I know of.
