what the??

What do you mean? With the what the?

What the??

@Trini
Cause that link doesn’t actually take you to a video, just the mobile version of the youtube.

If you pull it up on your phone, you can watch it.

Good matches… you crouch tech like a mad man. JS stopped trying to throw you altogether, and went solely to frame traps after a while. You gotta recognize that when it happens. That is SF4.

Good shit though.

I didn’t know there was a difference posting with my phone… And thx HAV.

hmm so whats the name of the vid or link to the vid so people on pc can watch it?

Crossroads 2, Crossroads 2 leveluplive on USTREAM. Gaming Entertainment

VOD’s aren’t up yet for this, but you can see me choke my way through a win over Vangief that starts at about 1:58:00.

I failed to react to every sweep, missed a couple crucial AA’s, and flat out made wrong decisions at key points, but somehow managed to pull it out. Love playing this matchup.

Maaaaan… Vangief was trying to gimmick the fuck out of that. Good shit not letting him bullshit that win.

Thanks, man. For all of Vance’s strengths, he’s got no concept of risk/reward. Dude’s response to pressure is to keep throwing out crazier shit which, as dumb as I feel that response is, does a good job of scaring opponents. Double goddamn 720…

Would it be worthwhile for me to write up my notes on playing Vance? I’m not even sure if there’s other gief players in the U.S. worth preparing for, so it’d basically be a writeup on how to beat a specific person…

Can’t hurt.

@ghostmaker - go for it

oh and im not sure if this is AE limited or just player’s messed up timing

but that thing where dictator gets a knockdown and do ambiguous meaty(?) U2 (esp in the corner)? i had this idea that waking up with st.hp will beat it (or at least trade, in abels favor)… so far ive managed to do it twice(never failed though), beats clean though im not sure if its my opponent fucked up or anything. anyone had similar experience and can support this?

I don’t have any experience with 50/50 ultra 2 setups on knockdown from dic, but if it actually hits meaty you shouldn’t be able to get a st. hp out at all, correct?

lol yeah, my bad. i guess the player fucked up then

i dont think its meaty 100% but i have to guess which side to block(ex rolin works but if i guessed the direction wrong, ex wheel gonna eat the ultra) + no time to jump away.

Right. Any way to auto correct an ex TT haha? Is ultra 2 even throwable? I have a sneaking suspicion that this doesn’t belong in the video thread…

Pretty sure it’s throwable as I’m sure I’ve mashed out an ex spd as seth and grabbed bison when he’s tried that ultra mix up on me.

you play one vs FChamp later too?

you’ve got a nice standup game but you really don’t make much of your knockdowns

of the two, having good footsies is definitely more important but vs sim especially you should never let him stand up again unpressured. imo you were playing too low risk vs him too. too many normal throws where TT would have been better

The only instance that I remember not sticking anything out on his wakeup was in the first round, when he had super. That neutral jump was an attempted bait, but it wasn’t even an optimal bait. Could’ve just sat there and reacted to him, which would’ve allowed me to counter the teleport he did, but instead I went full retard and gave away the round.

While I can definitely see points in the match where hindsight shows that TT was the best choice, i’m loathe to use it very much and risk him guessing right and getting out. My goal in using normal throws that much was to set the precedent of him having to mash tech every time, which I ended up being successful in doing. Unfortunately, jittery execution and hardcore tunnel-vision made me fail to capitalize on the precedent I had set, but I still feel like it’s a smart plan against him. To me, TT is something you either throw out early to scare them, or save until the end to break them.

TT might’ve made up the difference in damage I needed to take it, but there’s nothing more demoralizing than letting out someone as slippery as Ryan by giving him a chance to guess right. I’m not good enough to bank on getting in a second time, not to mention I fucked up on so many other things that i’m not sure TT is the answer i’m looking for just yet.

Ryan is fucking scary in that match-up. He is honestly the only dhalsim that knows it inside-out, props to him for making a 7-3 match-up feel even. I know what you mean by not wanting him to get away, but you still have to take risks. Risk-reward is 100% in your favor, his best option is to get away and corner himself, just gotta be able to survive your second attempt at getting in.

You still played great though, gotta give you props on taking out vance, dude is scary as hell
