yo i was watching that live. You ran train on Lud
just going off of that video you did okay. imo you got hit by too many ex sbk’s but w/e you still won. he liked to throw them out at obvious times during the match so bait it like late tech or just bait and punish if he throws it out. i dont really like how you kept guessing he was gonna back dash and went for the CoD’s but chun’s do love to back dash. a lot of times you are going for st.mp after a hit f+mk when the opponent is standing (once it was on counter hit i saw but another time it was not on ch and chun was standing), it worked but you shouldve used fierce.
against sagat you kept ending your strings (say for instance cr.lk x 2 cr.lp st.lk ender, instaed after cr.lp do a st.lp into st.mp or something to maximize your damage. from videos ive seen, nobody does this against sagat if they go for that string. its good and you just get pushed back a little further but i would take more dmg over being a step or 2 closer to sagat.
Thanks.
Yeah, I get a lot of strongs messing up a fierce~strong p-link. Just started playing Abel offline two days ago, the rest was PSN timing (lol).
Ok, I’ll combo into strong against tall crouchers. Isn’t it better to be a bit closer, to hit back dashes? I’m just familiar with the strings that end in short. I usually block or hold forward and late step kick the back dash.
I usually try to come up with back dash punishes for Chun. I think she has the best one in the game? I dunno, but early on in SF4’s time I used to abuse it. I figured a lot of the local Chuns started to, too. So I kept guessing to go for it, since it would remove the 50/50 of cr.jab into cl.strong/TT mixups.
Imma have to have more drinks next tournament. I sobered up in grand finals and got beasted. I may drop more combos in that state but I definitely think a lot better/quicker.
ah i c. well yeah its usually better but i mean against sagat, his back dash is ass and especially against that dude seems like a lot of random things happen (ex knees, uppercuts etc.) i would wanna maximize my damage and be out. your a bit further away yeah but its not really hard to get back in against sagat, hes usually standing there either doing nothing, throwing tiger shots, or spamming rh. if he spams rh thats in your favor and being that far wont matter. i dont know its not really something you need to do but i was so used to doing that in vanilla because sagat did soooo much dmg back then that i wanted to do as much dmg and space him out again. either way you can take a few steps forward and be in the same spot you would be in if you ended the string with st.lk.
short roll ex TT can be useful against sagat, i kinda like the matchup but i hate ex knee, at a certain distance, after blockin it, its 50-50 whether its a throw or TU etc… blergh
You need to learn your lk links. If you want to better your Abel game you need to have more options for approaching your grapple/c.HP zone.
Some Abel vs Balrog, for the bored.

good stuff magman
I went ahead and posted in both the Abel and Chun forums.
Yo damn! AC revenger!!! He was falling off so hard, good to see him taking on two of the world’s best. Unfortunately, his execution isn’t where it needs to be. That loss against Mago was the biggest facepalm in a while.

Two Bison players. I would really appreciate any tips or help I can get on what I should do better or what I should do different. Tnx
You might wanna block more when Bison is at his roundhouse range and letting them rip. Also gotta be careful of scissor charge time during blocked pokes - it’s a trick charge characters use to reduce charge time. So if they dash up and roundhouse, they’re already charging during the whole hit/block stun of the roundhouse.
Well, let’s see here. I don’t like counter poking with st.strong as much because it pushes me away. I like to use more when I’m in the lead, though. The way I like to find a way in, is off of st.short. st.short -> step kick isn’t even safe, but most people can’t react to it and it gets me in. Besides, you can hit st.short to stop them from going in, and they won’t have charge at that point. To keep it short, I use st.short as a measuring move in almost every match up. If they back dash, I walk (or dash, depending on which back dash) up and step kick. For reversals, I’ll just wait, block, and punish. Sometimes I’ll short roll, but that’s in between if I think they will reversal or do nothing. Lastly, st.short -> step kick can do good for anything else.
Another trick I like to get in with is jumping jab. It stuffs his roundhouse if they don’t already have it out, or are slightly off on the angle. Just try it, you’ll see some fucked up things happen to Bison as he’s trying to anti air you lol. A good way to land jumps in this match up is to get him off of the roundhouse button. To do that, you gotta stay out of range and maybe they’ll press st.forward. You can get good jumps off of those.
Strong punches, far standing and crouching are good in the match up. Other players will tell you to use them. They’re decent answers to whiff punishing Bison’s kick pokes. I just like to do things a little different and get in there faster. But if you’re more patient and defensive, go for the strong button.
^
tnx for the tips. Espescially about the bison trick. I already use jab on jump ins alot cuz its good, but I’ll try to use st.short some more, and block more 2. tnx again
Hey guys, I need a small favor from any one who can help me out with this, I need some one who can record matches for me and post them here also if they can blurr out the name of the guy im fightting, Please send me a message at my Xbl gt: o Rico Suave o
Could of matches with a friend’s Cody when he was over the other day. I didn’t have anything else to put up on my channel, so SSF4 sounded good :).
(Btw this was an off day. I can’t remember a time I’ve missed more than 1 ultra off a juggle in a day. I missed at least 5 in about an hour.)

Abel getting owned by a beast Gouken:

That Gouken was good. I’m trying to step my match analysis up so help me out here. Correct me if I’m wrong but here’s what I think went wrong for Abel.
Besides that bad guess at :23, he didn’t have a ground game. He jumped in too much in the first round to try to get in. He wasn’t patient enough to block. Second round instead of patiently edging his way closer to Gouken with some standing lk and maybe a lk roll, he bet it on a roll and whiffed sweep to let Gouken jump over it. That was a nice jump by Gouken. Abel didn’t block much in the second round either.
lack of ground game and impatience cost him the match.

3.5 sets of Abel vs Chun-Li for you guys.
Those are some really good matches but the only thing that pisses me off is that the names are in front of the super bars so I can’t tell how much ex any of the players have… It makes a huge difference between safe wakeup pressure and just guessing and I can’t tell which you’re doing.
Wow. No idea how you managed to stand toe to toe with Chun. Most of the time when I’m close, I’m getting outpoked, frame traped and hazanshued to death.
Yea the overlays were a bit high up. I believe it was fixed after WF.
I have no idea either, that’s something I gotta ask EX MagMan. I’m just the messenger.
