How do Abel’s do with cross overs? Anyone have tips with that other than rolling out of it.
Close standing fierce xx roll for another mix-up.
thanks dustlooper i have another question does abel have any frame traps ?
Abel doesn’t have any strong ones. But, getting a CH off of a few moves (namely f+mk) opens up a lot of options.
I use c.lp,c.lp,c.mp to deal with jab or throw mashers, works well for me even against 3 frame jabs.
One of the mixups i like to use is c.lp, c.lp, st.mk whiff, fierce tt, when my opponent wises up & starts trying to interrupt after the 2nd c.lp i throw in the c.mp to counterhit them. Obviously not recommended against people who mash invincible reversals like dp’s but worth using otherwise IMO
>.< plinking doesn’t add frames to your moves… and cr lk doesn’t combo after fwd. mk.
just go to youtube and type in plinking, there are plenty of tuts out there.
check it. cr lp gives abel +6 on hit… step kick comes out in 7 frames… so 1 frame, frame trap.
counter hit, light kick is +4 on hit… that into step kick is a 3 frame, frame trap
pretty solid.
But what about frame traps when your opponent is blocking, so you can punish crouch tech and stuff?
Also how do i practice abels wakeup offense timing in training mode? like the dashes after TT roll stuff, i want my timing to be on point because i noticed that if its not i can just get thrown out of my oki shit.
tornado throw inherently beats out most crouch techs
to practice your wakeup stuff set abel as your 2nd character. Set your training options to record then perform what ever mix-up you are trying to practice. If you timing your rolls, etc correctly (and depending on what you do) then you shouldn’t be able to be thrown out of things
though I will say that alot of the time you’re gonna get thrown out of things online regardless anyway so keep that in mind
but doesn’t the oppenents jab come out if you go for a TT? cause i’ve been hit a few times out before my TT landed, is that just cause of sloppy execution?
Read the Okizeme Variation from the F.A.Q. Thread
Since you’re +8 frames for example after a lk-roll, you can easily TT them on wakeup since the fastest normal is 3 frames.
correct me if im wrong but if they are crouch teching wouldnt you get hit with a lk? If you keep getting hit by jabs then more than likely your getting mashed out by that jab.
yea i was actually kind of wrong in my post.
if you tick into tt from c. jabs then you will grab the startup of the short but after step kick you could get hit out of tt. but then again most people prob aren’t gonna be trying to crouch tech against you anyway since abel doesn’t use normal throw as much a other characters.
If you use a frame perfect normal throw after a step kick then you will grab the short in start up frames though
Well, with the coming of December, my classes are ending. So, I have free time until about January 23rd. If people are still interested in this guide, let me know. I did not finish this guide, and I have started on a new one. But, if people aren’t interested, I just won’t waste my time (=P).
So, let me know what you guys want.
okay then, thanks for the info and BTW people still crouch tech regardless sometimes, i guess they just don’t realize what they’re doing?
What situations are people normally trying to throw/ crouch tech for you?
well its after step kick, or just a jump in tick throw (i liked to make it look like i’m doing a block string by hitting two jabs and then going for the jab TT to set up an oki game). I also like to use regular throw as well cause it recovers faster on wiff and it also give you the chance for a very ambiguous oki opportunity. Maybe the use of regular throw makes them crouch tech? idk what really goes through their head, i know that the shoto jab and balrog jab is really good though so maybe they just like it.
ok
if you are tt after a jab you shouldn’t be getting interrupted by a jab since its +3 and tt has a 5-frame startup
if they are crouch teching after step kick then your throw is a little late. doing a frame perfect normal throw will catch their c. short if you are timing it right.
in the end none of it matters, because you’ll just get DP’d
Herp Derp Derp!!!

st.lk is so godlike, it cant be stressed enough. ive won so many matches with that move, did so many total damage from that move by itself too. beginners should really learn to use that move more(and i mean MORE), even to a point of almost abusing it. its such a nice pressure keep away/pressure tool.
