Vega and Elf just don’t play nice with cl.fp.
ya, they should’ve fixed that.
honda too.
I’ve actually never had a problem with Honda. Well, I shouldn’t say, “Never,” but still. I’m normally landing my f+mks at max range anyways.
oh btw, how’s honda’s jumping strong nerf?
can we anti air it clean now?
So I’m trying to get Abel’s option selects down. Don’t have any issues with you’re typically jumping stuff, don’t have any issue with meaty chains either. What I am having issues with is getting the late crouch tech after a step kick/buffering during a step kick. what should this look like if done right? Or what should I be looking for with the timing here? I’m trying to do the ryan hunter os’s as well. The C.lk, OS dash, TT I can’t get this one. Where should I be imputing the dash here?
For the j.hp os dash TT one, I can get the dash to OS but the throw wont connect if they don’t dash back. Am I just doing it too fast? I’ll keep playing around with it to see if I can get the timing.
I dont think anyone can really pinpoint you the timing of the late tech thing, youre basically delaying your throw/crouch tech so that you’ll be able to block reversals/shoryus/3f normals… i can just say, hey after f.mk wait for 3 frames but yeah, good luck… i think this kind of OSes, its best to practice with a partner so you can tell him to mix it up after blocking your f.mk while you practice the OS. Need to learn/know the timing on your own with this one imo.
as for the “ryan hunter” one, imagine doing cr.lk tick TT and during the cr.lk do the TT with double forwards… so its cr.lk f f df d db b.
So been practicing, yeah it’s not so bad. Still suck at that late tech shit, but I’ll keep at it. What are abel’s options in terms of frame traps? I’ve gotten some mileage out of step kick then fierce. Anything else?
on block:
cr. strong into cr. jab… 4 frame gap…
cr. jab into step kick… 4 frame gap.
Nice, i dont know many option selects with abel, it seems that option-selects are mandatory if you want to play a good abel.
with chun-li there are very few option selects.
thanks for the tips.
Another problem that i’m having is with crossing over the opponents with rolls after a kockdown, i alredy know the setups after falling sky and after tornado throw, but every time i roll to end up in the other side my opponents always do auto-correct reversal/ultra( i really think they are just mashing since they are not that good and dont know what auto-correct is LOL), i thought rolling to the other side would fuck up with my opponent inputs, but since their sutffs are coming out i’d like to know what i’m doing wrong!
or maybe i’m too predictable…
if your opp always do something on wakeup, then why would you press anything on their wakeup - and get hit?
as for fuckin up their inputs, they are called “auto-correct” for a reason, plus your opp was mashing and anything can come out from mashing.
If you really want to press buttons after you knock your opponent down the easiest way is to learn some safe jump setups
Can you go into more detail?
Well, if you can use an option select to cover multiple situations, why wouldn’t you? Option selects aren’t required, but it’s little risk for big reward, and it only costs some execution practice.
With Chun-Li, I’m just going to let you know that she has a ridiculous amount of useful OSes. Jump in HP+Taunt is grand; jump in HP+QCB Taunt also works well.

You’re timing a jump in after a knock down to where if they block, you hit with j.mk (normally). If they hit a button (i.e, Chun using a EX bird kick, Bison using EX crusher), you’ll block.
This particular one is an OS roll. Works stupid good against Bison. When you jump in, just hit :mk::qcf::lk: before you hit the ground. Easy shit.
You can’t really safe-jump someone who has a 3f reversal (Ken, Akuma, Ryu, etc). 4f is fine, though; you’ll need perfect timing.
Easier safe jumps are off of a CoD and a TT. I’m sure there’s a timing for FS, but I haven’t learned it.
Skyfall is wait a split second, dash forward neutral jump. I use it all the time
Cool shit, thanks. You like using nj.hk for damage, or nj.lk to beat dash-unders?
if its a safe jump, i dont think the opponent is able to dash under you, no?
Yeah if the opponent tries to dash they are getting hit by meaty jump roundhouse. Btw the same timing works for back throw. Just spend 5 minutes trying and you’ll see how it works
You’re right; I’m herp.
Spent some time with it; I’m not frame perfect, but I’ll get it. Good stuff; thanks.
Thats an issue to me, every time i knockdown somebody with abel teh 1st thing that comes to my mind is that i have to capitalize on it, otherwise keep i thinking that i wasted an opportunity that could end the match…
Of course if i see my opponent spammin DPs on wake up, ill try to bait it. Sometimes i face some decent opponents that do different things on wake up neutral jump, backdash, jab spam and once in a while do a random DP, i get really confused…
you see my point!? When i play Abel i get mindfucked with my own offense ., the more i play him the more i see u gotta be really smart to be an good abel player and have a pretty good arsenal of option-selects for every 50/50 situation.
changing topics, what do u guys think about punishing cross-ups with Ex TT!? it works pretty well to me, i block teh cross up and then do a reversal Ex TT, i’d like to know if that is legit
… thats not punishing…
