thanks dustlooper for the help!
hey guys.
i’m new abel player i used to play chun, but i decided to change.
i’m having a hard time with players that spam 3 frame attacks(jabs and shorts) after i use my step kick to get close and when i roll after a kockdown to get close, what do u guys do against 3 frame spammers!?
grab… step kick grab > any three frame normal
^ that is normal throw, not command grab…
glad to have met an SRKer from the Abel forums. Your Abel-like appearance in real life is gdlk.
EX TT is hit immune, too.
yo, you were there at UCI this past weekend? Where you the one that played that adon first round?
Yeah man, I was at UCI over the weekend. My first fight was with a guile player, followed by an Adon player, so maybe you are talking about the right guy. It’s all a blur now, but was excited to have attended my first tourney. My execution wasn’t on point either, but somehow managed to pull out a few W’s which was enough to make my weekend.
I see… Splurgendii, I kept saying Splurdengii… lol. I think there were only 3 Abels in the tourney… us and then some guy climbing on top of chairs and screaming across the room every 5 minutes preaching the brotherhood.
next time when we’re all there together… you me and the preacher will team up!
3 abels! the mixups will be unstoppable!
Sup everyone, thanks for the tips against 3 frame attacks
but still i have some doubts about abel.
what do u guys think of standing MK as a anti-air!? some times it works for me but i dont see any high level abel player using it .
another thing i’d like to know is, what mix ups you guys do after knocking down the opponent with CoD!?
i do a technique but i dont know if it is legit…
After a CoD i Empty Jump Foward(no walk/roll or anything before just jump) and i end up in the front of my opponent when he is waking up and after that i mix it up.
if he do anything or try to hit me with any normal attack i do a Ex TT.
if he tries to do an reversal, i block and try to punish.
if he tries to back dash or jump back i use a wheel kick.
Pretty fuckin cheap, isn’t? LOL
but that is it, i’d like to know what u guys thoughts about that and if theres a better strategy after a Kockdown Cod.
Later
and thanks
standing mk is cool! it does alright against dive kick pressure along with far strong.
the reason why I personally dont use it is because… abel can’t cancel a roll off of it.
I think anything standing forward is good against, low forward is probably better.
After cod you can walk forward a tiny bit and do jump towards forward for a safe jump (fierce on taller character) or empty jump land OS block/tornado throw.
The twin’s dive kicks require a certain height. Stand forward hits them before they dive kick.
Or you could just OS it.
:lk:+:lp: :f::f::qcb::lp:
Late crouch tech. If they throw, you tech. If they do a wake up reversal, you block. If they backdash, you dash and TT. If they neutral jump, you dash under them and FS.
just a quick question. Why does a mk.roll into c.lp, s.mp work after a hard knowdown (say after a TT + Dash)? Other than the obvious cross-up which causes the opponent to block on the wrong side, is it because the c.lp hits so meaty? So if they press a button they get hit?
c.lp, s.hp is a 3 frame link.
c.lp, s.mp is a 2 frame link.
That should always work.
c.lk, s.hp is a 1 frame link.
c.lk, s.mp would only work on a CH (or maybe meaty; I’m not too verbose in meaty combos).
Hey dustlooper thanks for the reply. Actually I think I just phrased my question poorly. I know that those moves combo, I’m just wondering why does mk roll into that set-up work so often? I see Yipes etc… using it on wake-up and it gets even the top players. Is it because they aren’t blocking properly or is it because they press a button but the c.lp hits so meaty that it stuffs it?
I think that question would be better off answered by showing this: https://docs.google.com/fileview?id=0B7S1JTWz7Q_CYzkwNWUxYzktNmY0YS00MzhhLTk5N2MtOGIzMzgzOWYzMjA1&hl=en&authkey=CPnAyIwG&pli=1
That it does! Thank you SIR!
if fp is the more forgiving link, why do Abel’s use mp instead in those combos from cr. lp?
Because cl. fp whiffs on a lot of characters.
When they are crouching.
