Great, other people think like you, that’s fantastic, that still doesn’t address the issue in question at all. In the past ABC’s people voted for what they thought looked best. You honestly think Zandwich’s Donut Eating Magneto was the height of effort? And if you dont’ give a damn about the ABC’s now, why are you going so out of your way to bring negative(not even constructive) feedback into it? If you don’t give a damn, stop posting in the thread, it’s that simple.
EDIT: And yeah, I should have entered just because of Over The Top. :bluu:
Yeah I knew you did that one, but I didn’t pick it because there was a bit too much going on. I think you would have been better off with just having the motion on the bottom and then an entire screen (like it was in game) of him about to do the motion on that same girl. It would have been much better without his win portrait in there, and some empty space would have done wonders for it imho.
And SRK Paanch deserves first, at least I think so. I know it seems bland and simple, but I have my reasons.
It’s cool that you didn’t pick mine, I’m not saying I made a good avatar. It’s a little MS Paint production that I drew some lines on. But at least there’s some creativity, there’s some hint of a story going on, some hint of maybe something interesting going on. I don’t like defending my own work like it was anything quality, so I stop now.
You’re still looking at effort to equal the amount of time spent on avatar. I’m looking at effort for creativity, style, originality, and so on. Even if this is some dinky little avatar contest on a fighting game messageboard there’s nothing wrong with that line of thinking, is there?
I mean look at PyschoSquall’s Naruto avatars, they practically litter SRK. He takes a piece of shit anime, with dumb-ass characters, and he creates these fucking AMAZING works of art with whatever he’s got. I HATE NARUTO and what it’s become, but even I had to beg him for a Naruto avatar in the past, that’s just how god damn good he is. Punkus’ avatar is a perfect example of that, and the fact that he’s wearing attests to it.
I loved Zand’s entry because it was the ONE TIME in any ABC that he gave a damn to be silly, creative, original, what have you. Most of his entries beforehand were stupid, tasteless, and just annoying. I, along with the likes of quiche and a few others, knew that he knew what he was doing with the likes of PS / IR, and were itching to see what he’d come up with if he put in even the smallest amount of effort. That avatar is the freaking pinnacle of anything he’s ever done, and it’ll probably stay that way.
As for not giving a damn about ABC, you misunderstood me. I don’t give a damn about sounding elitist, but I sure as hell give a damn about these ABC’s ;p.
That’s just the thing, you can’t always tell what work was actually put into someone’s creation.
That’s actually a huge compliment, when ppl think that what you’ve done is just a stock picture ONLY. But at the sametime, it’s a kick in the face when they notice nothing else about, among blatantly obvious things too. I can’t believe some of you guys just arent’ seeing this stuff right now.
Great av, definitly one of the best. But like mentioned before: border is kinda jagged. Also, the white light really doesen’t work here because it’s on top of fire. Since there’s fire through out the whole background, I would suggest using more fire (on top of stock) to blend it… I just don’t think another lightsource would work.
“Classic SRK Style”
Perfect execution with this av… but it does feel a bit too familiar.
“The answer, my friend, is blowing in the wind.”
Like Chibi (I think) mentioned earlier: the placement and balance is a bit off. But, I like the style a lot. The curving lines and circles (especially in the border) go really well with the av’s comical theme.
Mine:
“A.B.A.”
This is a result of bad planning x_x. My ideah was to make a lunar scene with some good looking light effects… but then it’s a sprite, and I’m not to good at doing that with sprites. Plus, avs might be too small for what I was thinking… so after a while I scratched that and put some blood splatters on it… it kept coming out messy x_x … Tryed some vectors and still nothing :|. So I just sent it in with very subtle light effects/bg blendings and a color edit. **
Theme**
I noticed Chibi said something about being tired of the story avs… I’m kinda feeling this way also, but not with just that. To me, this theme is geared towards making a clever gimmick/joke av… right? I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with those types of avs (I like to do them too), but I just want see both.
@ all the complaing- People need to chill. Yeah people looked at avs for 5 secs because that is what they are used to doing. Is it right? no, but no reason to get all upset about it. I know there are really talented av makers out there, but you have to admit… it’s a lesser form of art.
I dunno about you guys, but I love watching and making story avs.
But whats the border between a gimmick av and a story one? is it text? speech? repetition? Would quiche’s Mr.Wizard avatar be considered a story av or a gimmick? It has both qualities in it right?
The only difference I see in a gimmick av and a story av is the length.
Why knock those that are getting upset about it? Some of those others might consider art of any kind on the same wavelength, no matter what the type.
That’s not really fair. The dimensions might not be big as something else, but there are other ppl that consider it valid(not a lesser form of art) no matter what the size. I’ll keep my opinion on that matter out of it.
And it’s not so much a gimmick as it is just being more creative with things outside of ‘SRK Inside jokes’ and what have you. Like that Cable / Sent avatar you did a while back, in comic book fashion, that’s not a gimmick or a story, that’s fucking art man. The rock and roll avatar you made was a story, but it had nothing to do with SRK, you get my drift.
And yeah I realize the theme is SRK, which is why I sound so stupid right now.
i don’t do this shit. the only thought i put into was the actual images used…and i can completely understand why nobody picked my animated one. it had promise but the fact that i didn’t bother to mess with compression settings to get the best looking result is what killed it for me. i had to cut so many frames it pretty much blew it over.
as for the still, i drew some skimpy fighter chick doing a shoryuken. i also added two little circles in the back to give it that “shinsho” effect like the actual super, but i doubt anyone would be able to notice that but myself.
honestly, i spent more time drawing the actual images than anything else.
i’m shocked my shit was even voted for…i was actually unispired and was letting the forum rules limit what i was going to enter. i geuss.
my suggestions:
an easier, understandable, and all round better theme selection. i think in the future, people should vote for themes, not too sure that’s an excellent idea but it’s worth a shot.
no more noobs…seriously. :arazz:
negro edit:
my entries…quiche named the still av…he kept blabin’ about sonic and was i like, “uhh, fuck it.” but no complaints really. he also changed the name for my animated. it was originally, “Ladie and the Faust” but going with the beauty and the beast theme title…it actually made more since…faust is a beast…
also, wtf with all you white people saying that Elizabeth is a “semi hot” girl? fuck yo’ couch!
EDIT: I really want to post up the artists, but we still have teh tiebreaker thing to worry about, so right now you’ll have to settle for animated artists.
“Street Fighter II: Titty Fighting Shin-Shoryutits - ‘She got paid. Style is impetuous. Bounce is impregnable.’”

EDIT: As for my animated entry, Cammy’s tits were a major edit of a pair of naked cartoon tits. Because they feature nipples I can’t show them here, but if anyone wants to see them, I can PM it to you.
…seriously.
