I think alot(not all, mind you) of the judges just glanced at the avs, instead of looking at them. If you get what I’m saying.

Oh, I agree. I was just saying how the fact that it was blurry gave the effect that it was further away.
I don’t think you understand. We pick avs because of the way they look and flow. We honestly don’t give two shits whether “zoom layer” or “super ultra photoshop filter version douchebag 2.0” was used. We care how the end result looks. If you don’t like it, too bad, it’s a difference of opinion, stop trying to argue art with technicalities.
You say that like I’m not picking avatars because of the way they look and flow. There’s more to it then just the look and the flow, there’s real creativity and work to be found past what you think of an end result, and that’s why I said some of you shouldn’t be judges either, because the people that did put in effort into their entries are getting overlooked because “HELL I LIKE IT SO IT GETS SECOND, THATS ALL THAT MATTERS”.

I know how you feel, but there’s several things to consider. Who are ussually the ones that are qaulified to judge art? … artists. So that just means less entries. Plus, these are avatars. I doubt anyone on outside of an abc challenge would stare at an av for 10 mins and ask “what elements does the artist use to communicate to the viewer?” Most people don’t know a single thing about this kind of stuff. This isn’t an art forum… just saying, can’t really blame people.
I also said more about the theme, but I deleted it for now since the voting isn’t done.
Oh please, come off the elitist attitude, trust me, it just makes you look like a tool, nothing more. What you’re saying is that if someone puts 20 hours of work into a piece, and it looks like shit, then we should vote for that piece above someone who put 20 minutes of work and made it look good? This is exactly why people like YOU should never be a judge.

Nah, the past ABC’s have proven that the people who did put effort into their avatars got far in placing (ie Quiche, Slide, Darkdragon, Shatter), but this time around that’s not the case. And I already know I’m not the only who thinks this way, but I’m the only one saying anything about it at the moment, but that’s nothing new.
And when Quiche gives you fuckers two god damn weeks to make ONE AVATAR you damn best believe I expect people to put some effort into it. That’s why I’m throwing a shit fit.
And I know I sound elitist, snotty, pompous, big shit. Go back to ABC#6 when I almost gave a damn.
This is my basic gripe with this whole round, not only the judging but the entries as well. It seems to me like most people went, “how can we enter an avatar battle challenge and use the least amount of creativity possible?” Half of the avs literally have boobies and or ass, and then either the word shoryuken, the letters srk, or the srk motion. How did anyone, any. one., vote for the pink srk tits one? It’s literally some drawn boobs with the letters srk on them! That’s it! And there’s a nondescript pink background. It’s like whoever made this entry thought he was playing pictionary. “Topic: boobs and srk. Get your teammates to say these two words and you win.” There’s zero creativity in it, even in the name. “SRK Tits” is the name. I mean wow. The complete lack of anything creative or interesting is astounding. SRK Elizabeth was the exact same way. That one with the ass and the srk motion tanned in? It’s a picture of a butt and the shoryuken motion. That is the whole avatar, there is nothing else there. The fact that the motion is “tanned” in instead of just drawn on barely draws attention away from the fact that this is only slightly less than the least-creative-entry-possible. Man, I mean at least the guy who made SRK Tits had the decency to just call it exactly what it was.
And that Morrigan av? That’s the same av everyone on srk has! Every person on this website has an avatar with a character from some street fighter game doing some move and/or showing his win/select screen pose. The difference is that this one also has the most boring background possible, and then instead of an entirely rectangular border, it has a mostly-rectangular border, and that was vote-worthy??. The R Mika avatar is the same exact avatar; half of it is a sprite just standing there, half of it is a picture from the win screen or some nonsense, and then there’s an entirely nondescript background. The fact that one got votes and the other didn’t is almost as stupid as the fact that the Morrigan avatar got votes at all; there’s zero consistency involved in the voting here. The avatar with Ken in a black hole for no reason? The one where someone transposed a bit of fire over that actress? The one where someone took a picture of Psylocke and put her over a red/blue/black background? Chun Li just standing there, and the av maker didn’t even pick one of the million sprite shots with her ass or boobs prominently featured? Some character I don’t even know doing srk paaanch, and that’s literally the whole avatar? A chick from a fighting game is doing I guess a dragon punch and gets third place?? This is ridiculous.
Look, there was one good still avatar here, and it was the donkey punch one. That’s pretty creative - it’s a donkey, or “ass,” doing a shoryuken, and it has what I assume is “donkey” in japanese down there; plus, it’s about a donkey punch, and that’s funny. But the one that consists of nothing (nothing) more than a butt with the srk motion on it is tied for first. Alright guys! Yeah that’s well done.
The one I did is obvious if you know anything about the theme all my avatars have in common or who I play in Third Strike. I didn’t expect it to place, I just liked having an excuse to make a new avatar, but I can’t imagine anyone telling me with a straight face that it was less creative or interesting than the Morrigan av, SRK Paaaanch, and the butt av. The fact that I made up a new move name should have blown my av past all non-donkey-punch competitors in the field of creativity, at the least. Basically, the fact that MY avatar was the 2nd best in terms of creativity and interestingness, my crappy Microsoft Paint-created avatar, has dreadful implications for the quality of the field of avs in this competition.
In the animated avatars, the spinning Chun Li and boobs with boxing gloves had the same problems the still avatars did, and the Cammy av was barely less retarded.
I don’t think he’s saying amount of time = good. But when you look at art, there’s more to consider than whether it’s easy on t he eyes. I’m not complaining though, I just think that’s what he ment.

For myself, I’m to blame for not catering to all different types of judging, in my entries.
But I say oh well, can’t win em all over.
If this was say, a large project that presented a job offer or large pay out at the end. Then things would be super serious. However, never take away from those that consider all forms of art on even grounds no matter what.
To me, it’s not even about someone voting based on their opinion of the av, because that’s exactly what everyone is doing, and that’s what you are supposed to do. It’s about voting and then not even seeing obvious shit. How some can come to the defense of one entry’s relevence to theme, but overlook another one on the same situation.
EDIT: Also some ppl just HAVE NO IDEA what stocks were used, if any at all to make the avs. No one can even fathom what was done or put behind the creation to some of the entries. lol @ ppl just thinking some of the entries was just a stock jpeg or gif and nothing else.
