Does anyone else find this as asinine as I do?
Both.
both as someone just said. DOnt worry…our black nostrils will adjust to this contaminated air. : ) ------Wonder Twin Powers activate form of…a “nigga.” Steals hubcaps, and nynja sneaks into a tea party convention
Thing is, a huge horrible plague is kind of good for the way society works. War is fucking horrible because it wipes out the the age group that gets things done and supports the system. But diseases takes out the old and the young primarily, who eat up more resources than they contribute.
If say 20% (it’d probably be higher than that) of all kids 16 and under die, think of the space it frees up in the education system alone. 20% of old people? That frees up YEARS of medicare costs for a group that doesn’t do much. It also removes that much of the segment of voting population to let the current generations carry more weight. Probably be a huge boost to the economy as well.
But the period of the outbreak would basically be hell.
Didn’t the democrats start the KKK?
Shit the hell if I know. Probably me thinks. You’d think the republicans did though. Their both the same greedy power structure imo. Meh.
I think the KKK was started by the same two scientists.
…why…would someone do this…
- :bluu:
2012 is going to bell one hell of a ride
Yes they did, the Republican party did not even exist until Lincoln. Also be careful with the Aids was invented shit, people actually believe stupid crap like that.
Not H1N1- H5N1 isn’t the same thing. But yeah, they could have picked more differentiated name when discussing this stuff in public.
It was more like “Hey, this stuff would be really dangerous if it goes airborne contagious on us. How likely is that to happen and what might we do about it? Let’s look in to that.”
A few months later: “Oh, shit, that was WAY too easy.”
And the way science works, if you can’t tell other people how you did it it never happened, so nobody’s gonna take you seriously unless you publish.
This strain of virus has an 85% lethality rate. 85%. If you, this virus, and nine other people are locked in room, and you live, so did on average half of one other person. That’s not “freeing up resources”, that’s “better hope there are people left alive who know how to do shit” territory.
Well according to a friend of mine, mind you he is dead serious about this,
HIV was made when sperm and shit melded together in the anus of a man as he was fucked by another man. and the disease spread from there.
So now we didn’t make HIV to kill black people or gays, rather gays accidently made it themselves, and can be seen as a sign that gayness is against natures will.
Not really. the amount of information that you can learn is to good to pass up. Nature is going to mutate the virus eventually and then we are going to be fucked. With this information at hand, and a few years of research and development under our belt, we can be better prepared for the consequences of an outbreak and that much closer to a vaccine. Its actually pretty fucking smart, real fucking smart.
Cortana was wrong. This is how the world ends.
I was going to ask “why would someone with half a brain do something like this” but then I remembered that humanity is made of stupid fucks.
I just hope I’m dead by the time these idiots lead us to extinction.
Im not really understanding how this is a bad thing. Worst case scenario, there is an outbreak in a lab because of a massive power failure, the fail safe fails, the fail safe fail safe fails, and the mechanical sterilization doesn’t work. Or a bunch of terrorist take it from the lab and release it.
Worst case scenario, nature mutates it and we are all fucked because we have no knowledge of the possible derivatives of the virus. Who is the dumb fuck now?
Raccoon City Incident impending?
…
Aw, darn. Too late.

They are trying to elucidate the molecular mechanisms by which H5N1 could increase its virulence in humans, so DOING this is a great thing. They did it, they know they did it, now sequence it and incinerate it. Easy enough to study the proteins of interest in models that won’t kill us all.
The debate is over whether it is smart to publish the methods by which they did it:
One camp says doing so is stupid because then anybody with a bachelors degree in biology would be able to replicate it.
The other camp says anybody with a bachelors degree in biology should already be able to figure out what was done so why not.
I thought HIV was the result of using monkey kidneys to create polio vaccines.
I heard it was started because someone fucked a monkey. Both are valid reasons, IMO.
nope, was made in the anus of a gay man.
