No, I’m not saying that at all. I’m looking at the bright side of our evolution towards eSports.
And yet the real people will go to where the good play is.
you’re making entirely too much of this personality bullshit and entirely too little of the actual gameplay.
This is literally fucking up the community. It’s like the objective to kill the FGC. None of these news outlets really give a fuck about us becuase if they did, the news would extend to things OTHER than bad things about us. They don’t give a fuck about us, and we shouldn’t care about them. We are gonna hurt ourselves if we keep allowing that to continue. We get it, we have problems, but crucifying us just makes all of them look like asshats who care about nothing but hurting us. What kind of shit is that?
All I have to say about Aris and Marn being thrown under the bus is…Wow, that is one bad ass bus! To run over those two beached whales and keep going is amazing
The whole eSports thing is funny too, Inkblot/Ponder/Wizard desperately want the community to go there, they just want it to go there under their control, and nobody elses.
edit:
They’re reporting it because it’s newsworthy, it was on a heavily promoted capcom-sponsored event. The silly denials just made it MORE newsworthy.
It’s not about caring what those guys think though, its about saying “This is fucked up and wrong, and I expect better of a community I’m in”
Nope its e-sports now and not a thing wrong with it, its way past just game play, its not even about that anymore, its now about wibesite hits for Nos or redbull add money…
I realize I’m jumping into this late, but I feel it necessary to reiterate. The fighting game community needs to start being aware of whom it chooses to represent itself. When you pick a tremendous asshole who cannot grasp the concept of self-reflection, you shouldn’t be surprised when he opens his putrid maw to spew venom. It does not matter if it’s the actions or words of one person within the community, being a part of a community means one essentially becomes the community in the eyes of anyone outside looking in. If the community truly wants acceptance beyond it’s proverbial little lines in the sand, it needs to be aware of how it is perceived by everyone else.
tl;dr grow the fuck up and chuck people like aris under the bus

These niggas we trying to impress won’t be happy until we ostracize them. This is the Roman Coliseum right now and the crowd is screaming for blood so loud it is deafening.
What Marn said wasn’t offensive really, its not about being soft or not. He just said stuff at the wrong time and place. If he said this five months ago no one would give a crap. Thing is the fgc has been under the scope for the past week over this sexual arisment issue and Marn and christian comes in making insensitive comments ON STREAM. What ppl need to do is smarten up, let the entire issue settle down and all will be fine and dandy in a few weeks…
This is very true. Anything even slightly sexist, homophobic, etc will be taken to the extreme because of what happened recently with Miranda and Aris. I promise you that if Yipes gets kicked off commentating for something he says, I am done with this community until we shape the fuck up and not destroy ourselves because of an event that should have been dealt with already. Aris shouldn’t have been on the show - but the FGC didnt pick him. Capcom did. Capcom is retarded, not the FGC.
We don’t need to all be polite gentlemen - there is diversity in every community and I think it’s better to accept that than try to make everyone the same. Where’s the fun in that? We don’t like pop offs now? We’d rather someone just say “good game”? We need to think for like 5 minutes about every sentence we utter because it might offend someone? It’s easy to do that on the internet, a place where you can look at your sentence before you type it, but try doing that when you’re commentating and have to constantly talk. Just try.
Recently I’ve been trying to get back into the FGC after taking a year long hiatus, trying to become a part of the community again, and get back into tournaments and such. Seeing stuff like this happen at major events is just utterly disheartening. The worst part of this is it could’ve ended with just Aris’s comments, and the community could’ve just distanced themselves away from him and his behavior, but Marn and Christian pretty much blew that chance for all of us. I’ve been noticing that there is a growing amount of arrogance going hand in hand with immaturity within the community online and offline. I’m even starting to see players “teabagging” each other in fighting games. Whether this is the behavior of players in the community or not, it should not be tolerated from anyone, no matter how much respect they’ve gained or how skilled they are in fighting games. From the newer players just entering the community and getting started, to players at the top of the scene, it needs to end right here right now.
Yipes usually doesn’t say anything that bad though, don’t oversell.
There’s a specific problem with sexism in the community, people object to that, not to ‘popping off’ or getting hype.

Love this Video
<3 EC
‘popping off’ usually ='s the equivelents of “kill that bitch”, “that was gay”, “faggot”, etc.
all of which will apparently get you banned from commentating. Also Yipes makes a lot of homophobic references, sexual references, etc. Know who else is homophobic? Mike Watson.
So long, halcyon days.
Anyone wanna try to put themselves in Capcom’s shoes atm? They try to advertise there game and they get all this drama, and bad press ouch.
Watching what you say is actually not that hard to do when you’re not a huge dickhead. There’s a difference between letting slip a curse word here or there and reinforcing sexism/rape culture. Stop playing the apologist.
There is more to this issue than just a few players. This situation didn’t spontaneously occur out of nothingness. It’s a pervasive undertone within the community that allowed it to happen, and it needs to be addressed and dealt with. Sweeping it under the rug or ignoring it will only allow it to happen again.

You and I agree on a lot of stuff, but this…not so much. I usually don’t get weirded out by what people say, considering I say some stupid shit. But Yipes yelling, on a major stream, “YEAH FUCK THAT PUSSY! FUCK THAT PUSSY! YEAH! FUCK THAT PUSSY!”…that weirded ME out.
Mike watson is a massive tool, so that doesn’t surprise me. He’s the one that basically said ‘she was asking for it’ when the Miranda thing started. Fuck that guy.
The thing with WNF was less what they said, more the apocalyptically bad timing of what they said. If you wanna commentate on a stream, you have to be more aware than that. 5 months ago or 5 months from now it wouldn’t have mattered, but because they chose to say that then, action had to be taken. That’s how the world works.
Again, the complaints and the actions taken are very specific. This is about sexism and women, and the culture’s problems with them.
It was made worse by Aris saying that you can’t have the culture without misogyny and that it would be unethical to not harass Miranda, and it was made worse again by those guys making those particular comments when all the world was watching.
I have to think its actually a good thing, because the sex problems have been going on way too long as it is, and it’s long been something that needed to be dealt with.
Some things are actually unacceptable, and there’s a happy equilibrium that’ll be reached. People are acting like its’ gonna suddenly turn into golf commentary.
capcom isnt the community.
for them this is p good shit. coverage all over the place. greater overall brand awareness. wouldn’t be surprised if this whole stink made more people aware of SFxT.
