I’m calling this right now. This shit keeps up, Capcom is gonna cut this community loose, and form their own or join MLG. The Mike Watson’s, Aris’, and whoever in the community can stay here at EVO playing MvC2 against 10 other people(which going by posts I’ve seen on this board I think a lot here would prefer that honestly), and the rest of the “09er SF4/MvC3 loving trash scrubs” can go with the new community that Capcom will make money from.

A bigger, more inclusive, more welcoming FCG is a better FCG. People don’t even seem to realize that not only is this sort of behavior bad for the people who are the targets of racism or homophobia or sexism or whatever, it’s also bad for themselves too and against their own economic self-interest.
Simple math for tournament players: More inclusive, welcoming community = bigger pots = bigger prizes to win. That’s grade 1 level, if not kindergarten. Shouldn’t be too hard to grasp.

Somehow, I always get misunderstood. I did not say this is not an issue or that just because it’s an individual thing it doesn’t matter. I’m saying generalizing the whole FGC based on one individual is pretty unprofessional and makes it look like they’ve just been looking for an excuse to put the whole community on blast.
I agree that if we see something inappropriate going on, we should stop that ish and my stance on the whole issue was that if one person on the cross assault stage had manned up instead of tolerating this shit, we wouldn’t be here.
Well if that’s true, then maybe i’m either in one of the best communities out there and should be thanking god that there are mature people around me who know how to treat women.
Because Capcom obviously makes these games only to make you feel good, they don’t expect profit or anything like that.

The problem is agonizingly on-the-face obvious, but people automatically go to circle the wagons. I’d much rather try to fix the problem then go all tribal about it.

edit@nini: The bigger the group, the worse it is (not trying to denigrate your community, but its worse at say evo than at a local). Also, like always, its substantially worse online than it is in person.
In a small personal setting where you have to actually know and interact with someone personally, those handy social filters kick in (for most of us anyways) and we tend to be a lot nicer about it.
