For the most part, the online shit talk about fighting game girls is just as bad as it is for the boys, and shouldn’t be singled out, that only makes the problem worse.
We need to address the problem as a whole, breaking it down only strengths the divided lines.
I’ve seen overweight people absouletly slaughtered, like they’re not people because they weigh more.
I’ve seen handicapped people destroyed because they’re in a wheelchair.
We should bring it in altogether, trying to highlight something only makes people look stupid.

It is worse. There’s a whole different level of base hostility to it, or maybe discomfort.
For instance, Floe is absurdly fat, and gets a lot of crap for it. And yet people don’t say he’s not actually skilled or that he doesn’t deserve the attention he gets. That shit happens to women all the time… the few times they actually show up.
What is the Fighting Game Community? Is it only people who actively go to tournaments? So people like Maximillion or Desk don’t count as part of this community?
Or is it much more then that and harder to define? I think it’s a little to easy to say people in stream chats or “Monsters” as you guys like to refer to them as, are not a part of this community. Because i bet a lot more of them then you think do go to tournaments.
Back in the day, when I was growing up, not to stereotype everyone who’s part of these demographics, but I remember the jock types in high school who threw out copious amounts of misogyny, racism, homophobia, etc - and the gamer crowd, at least the one I was part of, but I’m sure many others as well, generally thinking that those sorts of people were loutish meatheads who we in no way wanted to emulate or associate with.
Somewhere along the way, many of us seem to have changed our minds.
People talk and talk about ‘eSports’ (and I use that term in the broadest possible sense to refer to competitive video games, whether that be the FCG or whatever) but sadly, and it’s a damn shame, that nobody seems to be talking about the amount of dumb, meatheaded eJocks it’s created along the way, many who are just as bad as the sort that used to routinely bully many of us gamers, not to mention anyone else who was different.

Isn’t that the pot calling the kettle black. You seem to think that because its only individuals that it doesn’t matter. That’s not a fact, that’s your opinion. I agree that the FGC should not be based off of the attacks of mentally disturbed individuals, but that does not excuse the FGC for letting it happen. You’re just as guilty for sitting there letting it happen as if you were the one spouting the hate yourself. That’s the problem. These things are happening at our events. Our tournaments, our fight clubs, our launch events. And we sit by and shrug it off because we’re used to it.
I’m guilty of some of it too, when people make racist remarks say about Chris Hu. Hell he makes fun of himself, and me being Chinese I laugh at it too. They even made some jokes about underage girls in China/Asia and how “16 is just right” Does it mean it should be accepted? that’s not for me to say. I don’t care, but someone might, and that’s what matters.
If you feel we should not be associated with people like that then we need to stomp it out as a community. Not necessarily put folks we know who do it on blast, but the standards have to change. We can’t just say “Meh I didn’t say it, neither did my friends, so whatever not my problem.” It has now become our problem.
Quite a few on /v/ admit to being stream monsters and have gone to tournaments. So I laugh when these guys keep claiming “they’re not part of the community, they’re just stream monsters, that’s all!” They’re like those christians who get nervous when someone brings up those people who think God caused 911 to punish America for not killing gay people, and they go “uh uh those aren’t real christians they’re uh uh uh not part of the christian community, just some odd weirdos, that’s all!”

Basically the community is the mass of people. It’s certainly not the leaders.
For instance, Wizard and the Cannons have really tried to stop this sexism stuff, its bad for business and bad for the scene. Still, look at the Womens tourney and the community backlash to it, it was insane. They wanted to take a progressive step, but the community shit all over them for it.
I think the thing I like most about your posts is how you think typing up some long diarhhea ridden post about how great the community is and making biblical comparisons is somehow going to stop all the people online from being disgusted at your shitty community.
