I noticed one thing no one is stating or doing
Finding a solution.
Sure the cannons are speaking on what we should do by returning to our ‘roots’ but yet we’ve not come up with something to show we are a community that comes to a resolve. People sit and post an opinion on things yet never a how to fix the situation.
Do we have bad apples… yes. Why… cause we allowed it as we began to grow. We never set a tone in this community. Everyone wanted to become a personality that was known OUTSIDE of core game play mechanics. Forget that you can play/still play games at a high level that the art of competition is plentiful but more for the audience that we have even labeled ‘stream monsters’…
The FGC as a whole is confused. I look at tweets and post and I see people REALLY don’t know this or even their own community as a whole. Lets sit back and evaluate and understand something:
WE DO NOT GET AS BASHING/HARDCORE AS YOU THINK…
Have you been to a tournament outside of your LOCAL standing?? Ok lets take NEC as a example. At such a mid major people are on their best behavior with a few moments of ‘shouting’…“amping” a situation. Sure you might have your over the top win gestures post battle (that ONLY seem to become more an more since the coming of SF4) but over all its smooth sailing. Over the course of 12 years I have not seen the pop off people try to make it seem like. The hype use to extend to a persons play style (rush that shyt down) then to a almost odds hype (who you got… i got justin for 10) an finally you got the amping the fight as it flows play by play (omg he so gdlk… chuck that plasma). Never do you see the harsh environment every tries to make it out to be. I have seen women walk around with no problem not even ‘cat calls’. Tell me outside of mechanical issues when has a stream been disrupted due to crowd (don’t try to use local issues…ie noel brown situation). Tell me when has a organizer had to reprimand a player or remove him cause he/she is acting up? Essentially our tournaments are set in a situation where the “outside” world can watch… we do be on our pg-13 behavior…
WE HAVE STROKED OUR EGO DUE TO THE POPULARITY…
Tell me we haven’t. You have someone at every tournament interviewing you… you have streams… you have now become a celebrity in a sense. How many documentaries/almost documentaries/trailers have you seen since SF4. People are watching and instead of learning to play an getting a understanding why we play. An in turn our labeled ‘top players’ have fed into it. So much that even they have forgot when to play the role and when bring yourself back down. The jago/mike ross thing was staged and you knew it from the jump… Again if you KNOW this community whenever there was pure I don’t like you rivalry there was no playing on a game either one really couldnt play. There was matches on a game both knew. The actions of disliking each other was due to their values of GAMEPLAY N ATTTITUDE TOWARD THE GAME. It was genuine to the point their parties or crews would not even interact like that. Both of these young men SHOULD now understand that. A mistake due to blindness of trying to use the popularity to gain a higher status in turn trying to make revenue… an since everyone n their momma has a stream now its no longer i trying to learn… its im trying to make a name via the numbers…

^^ theyre your audience… not monsters. you give them such a title they will act like it and as you see will be your downfall, due to the fact youre too busy trying to maintain status of whom you are an cater to their crys trying to ‘be cool’.

ESPORTS!!! shutup. Seriously. I hear it but yet I don’t think ANYONE of a tournament caliber player or supporter really understands the meaning. The moment we are pointed out for the behavior of one of our own suddenly its a bash of

No it didn’t. People who hold standards in the community would shout it out at every lil moment they could like it was a gang call. Crying to want to be a part of something that can truly change the community YET don’t understand the principles that come with title. You know you have to be on your best behavior. You know you have to articulate yourself on stream. Its why you see commentators wearing shirts and ties… its why you see venues change to a more ‘friendly/accommodating’ environment… you want Esports act like you want by presenting the correct attention. IF you don’t want to adjust yourself to that then come up with something where YOU CONTROL EVERYTHING. Till then don’t sit an be shocked when a issue occurs and multiple outside entities make comment on it blindly… sport players get comments from news teams that dont even deal with sports like that sooooo
ARIS… MIRANDA… ARTURO… MIKE… JAGO… MARN….
They are our brothers an sisters in this community. Stop bashing them. Instead set a tone/example for them. Aris made a mistake and forgot where he was and failed to put on his “professional” mode. Miranda has been hurt but she doesn’t hate US she simply had a issue with ONE guy. Leave her be. I know everyone jumped on her or called her out for ‘waiting so long’ but it only showed me that many of the people that said such a thing don’t deal with women nor really have a girlfriend (not saying you cant or in that nature). Otherwise you know women let shyt ride for a hot second then if you continue they will then speak up. Again let her breath. We as a community NEVER make women feel uncomfortable at a tourney. Sherry was a WB an enjoyed herself an hung with us after it day one an partied and cracked jokes and drank. Never was it “omg these guys are making me feel uncomfortable”… it never has been
Arturo let something slip past him. I can say this…he doesnt know how to turn that phone off. Hear me out. He made a mistake for simply recording but I have sat next to arturo an watched him lay that phone down and NOT realize its still on. If you’re a viewer go back to Winter Brawl and you can hear him, myself, and damdai talking while playing Super Turbo. I said you may want to turn off your stream yo youre killing your battery. His reaction that it was still on was priceless cause he was knee deep into what he was doing (playing damdai). Many don’t want to say it but Arturo does lose focus a lot of times… hell even in conversation he can. Not as a diss but just pointing out something. The issue arose when someone took the stream an posted it up. Shyt happens. We move on.
Marn is not a baby. Marn is a young man whom is very vocal… you cant get mad at him now. We know whom he is and we allowed more to unfold (via WNF) when normal commentators should have been on their job. He is part of our community and if you speak with him he will be honest. He may joke a lot but if you ask him to be serious he will be serious. Im saddened that Keits would point him out an say HE is banned from the mic. Essentially singling out Marn when there were other voices included. A simple solution should have been we have commentators no one else is allowed on the mic. Now you have more drama and words thrown back and forth all while people online via social media is enjoying the issues that are occurring in our community

stop calling your audience stream monsters and stop asking them for suggestions. This definitely goes for commentators at major tournaments. They obviously couldnt make it to witness matches so give them matches. Stop trying to cater an trying TOO hard to be cool.

for those that were battling over stream viewership or crying over someone stealing your ideas/swag…stop. If anything come together. Create something that can be comparable to a channel line up…

tournament organizers don’t allow just anyone on the mic cause your cool with them. we have a eye on us now. an probably have been for a while. you have to know who can give a good presentation without going overboard or touching on sensitive situations.

we as a community have to set a tone. we are all cool so please kill me with the sudden issues with each other. we have drank together… talked… joked… etc dont try to act like you have a issue about someone now. when the harassment situation an the arturo situation happened suddenly everyone had a issue knowing damn well you don’t… everyone wants attention for the wrong reasons.

support your area. simple and plain… regardless if we do or do not get on a ‘higher level’ as far as the scene. we have survived this long by holding it down and supporting our own. When the business mode/sales numbers level off, the cameras/reports slowly ease away and the good from the casual is truly separated we have nothing but ourselves.

STOP bashing people for having an opinion. Remember you cried for Esports… this is part of the game. Just like sports athletes get in trouble an suddenly you hear them say “oh but they never look at my good stuff… i do charity…”. Its part of the game. Its how we move forward from this moment to regain ourselves an that being is NOT EVEN FOCUSING ON THOSE THAT HAVE A NEGATIVE VIEW ON US.… the more you play the more you get BAITED… jeez this is a fighting game community. you should know the meaning outside of your SF/Tekken/Blaze/whatever manual come on fam.
I can keep going but I think WE need to keep putting out solutions to get us back on track an actually act upon them. Just some of my thought cause the years i have put into this community this is tiresome cause its continuing on and on and we are not acting upon making an immediate change.
