A Litany of Hate: In Defense of the FGC

the problem being its not up to us, its up to the people running the big events… and its pretty clear how they want to deal with it.

Trust me if one region boycotted evoke they saw something they didn’t like Wiz would take notice

Now I rememeber why I hate gaming new media so much…

It’s just media in general.

Which is going to get more attention: The “aww that’s kind of sweet” stories or the “HOLY FUCKING SHIT WHY WOULD SOMEONE EVEN DO THIS” stories?

Blame yourselves…not the media

Sent using my Evo…not the 3D ish…eff 3D!

It’s not that, it’s the fact that communities like MK,etc are going to be label sexist thanks to these dumb articles.

Are we serious going to have bitch to Capcom, and Levelup for this…and even through some communities have no part of that?

thats how the media works lol. making the story as blown up as possible to grab people’s attention, dragging outside parties into the mix as long as the media is still technically correct, and making as big of an issue as possible.

Excepting again, that this was a legitimate story with especially telling quotes from the culprit, the victim, and a number of people in the community (some of them prominent people).

Because I am not the misogynist asshole that the media is reporting on I instead choose to blame the misogynist asshole.

The media isn’t a force unto itself; it’s a reaction that makes things that are already an issue an even bigger issue.

its a legitimate story between the culprit and the victim, nothing more nothing less. there is no need to bring the entire community into this, but the media will do so anyways.

We have prominent people in our government and even prominent people period, doing shady and illegal shit. Now do we have to bring the whole country into this?

What really made the story stick was the ludicrous things Aris said about it afterwards, and people like Watson shooting of their mouths about it. (It being a heavily promoted event by a big publisher didn’t hurt either)

The community was brought in because the community decided they wanted to weigh in and take shots at the victim. If everybody had gone in and talked about how Aris was a creepy asshole who never should be allowed near a woman, the story would have been reported ENTIRELY differently.

For real dude? I hope you actually met the dude (who has contributed heavily to the scene) before suggesting something like this. Smh.

i’m just gonna say have you ever met Aris? in person if not then like everyone else here whos just jumping on the bandwagon should shut up.

So question, Are we wrong for saying that Aris is a cool dude, and that he made a mistake and we should stop calling him names and burying him into the dirt for a mistake?

Reason I ask this is cuz there are people literally saying he shouldn’t show his face in this community again, do you find that wrong?

Here’s my gripe.

When it comes to people, especially people on this site(no offense) alot of you guys like to be so elitist at life, and sure you may walk around saying the ol famous cliche’ “Nobody’s perfect we all make mistakes” but when someone makes a mistake that offends us more than, lets say maybe our own, we go into “verbal kill mode” and crucify a man for making what you claim is “normal” for us Humans.
Not asking people to condone his actions at all but rather to actually live what you preach and give people the room and the opportunity to grow by realizing they made a mistake they are sorry about and letting it ago and moving forward. But of course this wont happen, because the people we are tying to impress are the ones who are the most guilty for this type of hypocrisy.
I said this once I’ll say it again, “The imperfect slaying the imperfect makes no sense”

Did he ever actually admit that he fucked up? If he did I’d be impressed. Last I heard he believed that sexism was an integral part of the community.

The world met Aris in that stream. Should we deeply and personally know everyone in the scene to decide whether or not to excuse their actions? Or should we just judge the actions as they are?

…He did mutiple times.

There is also LiJoe interview of Aris.

Agreed. Do people even understand that he was joking? Most of us agree that the dialogue is important and that what Aris said was horrible but is the FGC going to self-immolate over some bad jokes? And stop calling it sexual harassment for godsake.

I guess it’s hard to find: http://lmgtfy.com/?q=Aris apologizes&l=1

judging and now knowing anything about the situation is simply jumping on the bandwagon.

Except that it targets communiques that have zero part of Cross Assault/Level up actions.

Liking bitching about a governor that isn’t apart of the state that you live in.
