I think its appropriate to draw the line at harassment. Racy language and excitement aren't that terribly big a deal, a fair amount of our entertainment is based on that.

Girls fighting for acceptance in a male dominated field is nothing new, I drive trucks and the women I work with cop tons of shit. They are man enough to take it and dish it out harder and probably get more respect than most of the blokes for it, I wouldn’t hesitate to give them a hand and not because they’re female, because I respect them even though I say some sick jokes from time to time.
I think a couple of people may lack perspective of what the world is like when you get out of school, away from feminist diatribe into the real world, with real issues. As believe it or not, no matter how slick of a tongue you have, some people don’t understand and don’t give a shit if you try to reason with them, you can’t get a pig to fly, even if you put it in the cockpit of an airplane. Even if you flew it, it’s not changing the fact that it’s a pig and it wont fly on it’s own.
Right or wrong, didn’t Kennedy say something about making peaceful revolution impossible making violent resolution inevitable. That goes both ways, the fighting games community needs to accept times are changing, but at the same time, you can’t force people to be some clean cut image of social morals, as the harder you try, the louder they’re going to tell you to fuck off.
So we must make a decision. And no dont gimme that crap cliche “We can have both but just maintain basic human decency” cuz if I recall, as time progresses “basic human decency” likes to become more complex while calling itself basic. So we must choose…
Do we want the the raw, relatively rough, uninhibited FGC with the high potential of being offensive to the “outside world”?
Or do we want it to grow into something big, with more people, more money and overall more resources invested into it, at the cost of the former liberties many of us hold soo dear?

If they feel threatened, they can speak up, especially on stream. Now that this is more public, one would be led to believe that stuff is to be taken more seriously because you don’t want to be recorded for being blown up as a sexual harraser. The individuals who just take it… just like the high school bully… well, there is a way to do things and a way to avoid them - the latter isn’t the way to approach things and will continue giving the bully a sense of ‘cool i can keep doing this for fun’.

The difference is that IdrA’s rage and poor sportsmanship is more or less an isolated incident. He’s the only one who does that kind of thing constantly. The issue of misogyny and bigotry is very relevant in the FGC, because everyone here does it. Now we’re being put on blast because of it, and deservedly so.
