Yeah, I mean I’m having a hard time understanding the viewpoint of people who are upset that all the racism/sexism/homophobia is finally getting called out as unacceptable. Who actually wants these things in the community? Or rather, why are these things even perceived as “more real” or somehow admirable traits? We can play games, enjoy them, etc, without treating each other like shit. Friendly joshing and smack talk is one thing–but there’s a line, and some thing definitely cross it.

Actually this is rather easy, in my experience. If you have difficulty opening your mouth without offending someone, there are likely more important things you need to reflect on than the state of the FGC. Maintaining an acceptable level of decorum is not hard. And doing so doesn’t mean you can’t smack talk. This is all about not crossing clear lines in the sands and targeting someone race/sex/gender/etc.

Instead of removing the points, they should had a contract with tournament organizers to avoid offensive commentary long before this happened, it will be much better if instead of removing seed points, they should start to force the tournaments where there will be seeding points to had some rules on their commentary and if there are not followed, punishing the tournament with the remove of sponsorship and all that stuffThe public the new rules and show everyone that they are willing to get a better experience for everybody instead of pandering for guys who really don’t care that much for the FGC

The EVO staff do strange things, but it’s in a very damage-control fashion that’s ‘my way or the high way’. Anything associated with EVO needs to be PC and if anything crosses the line, the staff take action. It doesn’t matter who you are or how much credit you have in the community. See Justin throwing matches in an EVO seeding points tournament. Simple as… we just will need to have a PC filter on commentary in EVO majors from now on.
