A.I.M. Labs: M.O.D.O.K. Video Thread

I fixed my post, sorry about that.

thx for the post man, interesting to see how everyone’s modok is a little different. would’ve been cool to see the aex 9 cubes with modok in tourney play

Actually that team works really well. I can do over a Million from one hit anywhere on screen with only 3 or 4 cubes in combo ( I’ve maxed @ 8 cubes mid screen, 9+ in the corner). I had just picked up Dante a few days before then…but he works really well with MODOK, as does Viper (gets you to the corner in a flash for exchange combos and sets up unblockables for days). My MODOK’s gotten tons better since…actually my whole team has :). Clockworks not exactly the best person to showcase on lol. Anyways, I’ll be back on stream this week.

For the record, in long combos going for the 9th cube is not really worth it if its gonna make the timing tight. The difference in damage between gaining that 9th comes down to like 200 dmg or something equally is minuscule due to heavy scaling.

On the doom Matchup…yeah MODOK wins in a ranged fight. I didn’t play one because I was looking for the Phoenix snap In. By time I caught up to him and was in a good enough position to SB, I knew he would get 5 bars If I didn’t kill Phoenix of the 1st mixup (chasing Phoenix with the head is a chore) so I went for damage, but botched the combo because I got greedy and wanted 9 cubes to flex lol. You live and you UNDERSTAND I guess hah

Now I really want to see your MODOK, and team on the stream.

Can you please do a video if you have the time, it would be nice to watch your modok strats

moTempest strategies.

agreed with frog 55 JOn.

Not even concerned with the video quality. Just would like to see what works with in regards to analyze cube combos.

that’s some crazy M.O.D.O.K. action in the videos.

Big modok fan here. This guy is so underrated! I plan on doing a combo video in the future, just got a new capture HD card. Have a couple tricks & cool assist combos to showcase

M0-T3MP35T, I think everybody or most people can agree that you have one of the best modoks out there! no joke. Very impressive overall, with the offensive / aggressiveness rushdown, flashy assist combos, etc. Super fancy stuff, that’s for sure. Hell any character who isn’t used much, is fun to watch.

- Good stuff. For those who have yet to see. Duno if that’s your official channel or if somebody else uploaded it. Question : you dropped the combo at the end cause the ground 8th cube missed, were you trying to cancel into Hyper Psionic Blaster? or something. I know sometimes if your really close to the opponent, you can connect a standing L after a ground cube and continue the combo from there, might be corner only or the opponent must fall from the air into it / bounce, not sure. Gonna have to look into it later in training mode.

Really look forward to your upcoming modok matches @ WNF, maybe then people will jump on the modok bandwagon after seeing his amazing potential & power

I think people already know he can do big damage but it’s the execution, unconventional play and pure ugliness of the character that keeps them away hah!

I like the IAD M, into flight, cube, M, Cube for a quick 2 cubes. I always hit with that air to air but I don’t have flight mode programmed into my hands yet :frowning:

Thanks for the props guys!

Surfer87: I actually was going for c.mp into L.cube > HPB, but canceled into cube too fast. It’s possible because of how close you are to them when you spike them… the slime hits them late. The timings kinda strict when you’re upwards of 20 hits.

I have a capture card, but for the life of me I can’t figure out how to use it haha. I bought a dazzle awhile back, but apparently I need a dazzle gold or something like that and the software that comes with it (pinnacle studio) is PC only, and i’m currently on a Macbook. My PC’s been acting stupid lately so yeah heh. I’ll hit some people up and see if they’re down to record some exhibition matches with their equipment.

my modok tourney progressions and other modok tourney play

So went to another tourney here in Norcal and I did ok using my modok/deadpool/ironman team. Managed to tie for 5th using this entire team the whole night.

^ nice modok! Hiro too, especially at 9:06 last video. 2 cubes, 2 assist, a bomb all in one combo :smokin:

I made a new vid for my wacky team of Sentinel/MODOK/Captain America.

Not just Modok this time, so you’ll have to sit through some Sent/Cap stuff… But it’s not very long anyway. Again, more Aerial Exchange abuse, and I tried to include a corner AEX Cube sequence for large characters, as well a midscreen AEX Cube sequence. I also wanted to include a jamming bomb combo, as well as a wacky df+H loop that I stumbled upon.

The Details: (posting this here so I can link to it from the vid)

Combo 1
Sent vs Modok
Meters Gained: 1.9
Meters Spent: 1
Damage: +950k (KO)

Notes

 • Just showing how Sent can rape for very little meter/effort.

Combo 2
Cap vs Doom
Meters Gained: 2.9
Meters Spent: 1
Damage: +1 Million (KO)

Notes

 • 17 Shield Slashes in one combo
 • That’s a lot of Damage for Captain America!

Combo 3
Sent vs Dormammu
Meters Gained: 4.2
Meters Spent: 0
Damage: +1 Million (KO)

Notes

 • 7 Rocket Punches in one combo
 • Example of how to Aerial Exchange back into point character
 • Meterless million damage :looney:
 • Builds over FOUR meters (could’ve been 5-6 with downward Exchanges!)

Combo 4
Sent/Modok vs Hulk
Meters Gained: 3
Meters Spent: 2
Damage: +1.2 Million (KO)

Notes

 • 10 Analyse Cubes in one Aerial Exchange
 • Example of Modok corner Exchange sequence for large characters
 • Instant death off Sentinel throw anywhere on the screen

Combo 5
Modok vs Magneto
Meters Gained: 3.2
Meters Spent: 1
Damage: +850k (KO)

Notes

 • 11 Analyse Cubes in one combo
 • Example of Modok midscreen Exchange sequence
 • Example of how to Aerial Exchange back into point character

Combo 6
Modok vs Dormammu
Meters Gained: 1.5
Meters Spent: 1
Damage: 500k-ish?

Notes

 • Flashy, but impractical relaunch sequence
 • Jamming Bomb to Snapback combo

Combo 7
Modok vs Arthur
Meters Gained: 1
Meters Spent: 1
Damage: +800k (KO)

Notes

 • Example of wacky df+H loop
 • Shows how Snapped character was still jammed while offscreen (which affects their DHCs too! :badboy:)

I wanna see some matches of you >.<. Dieing to see some high level M.O.D.O.K

Lolz, I’m actually not very good at Marvel at all, I’m primarily a SF player… I am also a training mode junkie though! I love trying to figure stuff out on my own.

It’s cool to see how MODOK can abuse the DHC Glitch to break 900,000k in 2 bars.

Magneto is a good parnter for MODOK because Magneto has a easy time pushing characters into the corner for MODOK to switch places and do some corner pressure.

Alioune, that DHC combo is sick.

Anyway I’m glad more use MODOK’s DHC glitch. It’s very useful for his cube combos because he can have 6-7 LOU ready for the next oppotent for corner mixups.

Still this Japanese player proves that MODOK should input it in his gameplan as a secondary character.

Hussler Brain’s MODOK in WNF gave Infrit a decent fight. First fight in WNF

He also shows off why MODOK is a great corner control, and how useful the barrier assist is aganist Sent’s drones. Which was one of the least used assist in tournaments so far. Not to mention the fact that MODOK’s assist last so long in screen, that you can place another at once.

Hiro’s MODOK has really good uses for the barrier. Especially when he intentionally ends the corner with a barrier trap characters like Wolverine.
@00:37m:00 in the first video

MODOK’s a well spaced 3C, a 2B, and his Jab completely flat out beat a jumping Akuma’s tatsu on reaction. The good thing to know is MODOK jab is the easy to time, and pushing block a standing M/H tatsu will give the jab the space it needs to reversal combo.
