And I won my local and it was streamed this time. I tested out my new incoming setup a few times that I posted in the Matchup thread and got really good results.
I play casuals at the start of the archive for about an hour, then I play in grand finals at 3:37:00.
Im learning so much about modok rushdown and zoning, thanks for those stream matches you posted of you. Great stuff and learning tool, although i use drones i
can get the jest of it. I noticed how you maintain them in the corner on incoming and kill them there. The option selects you have are great as well. I need to learn how to drive with modok, so i can connect multiple HBR’s at least 2 would be nice. I would also like to learn that moonz combo where he drives them back into the bomb, since my team is modok dependent. I think im gonna use modok/storm/sent as a alternate to Jill/modok/sent on occasion. (that hail storm dhc is too real XD )
Storm and Modok don’t work out too well beyond the good DHC. her assists don’t help modok in the neutral very much, and they scale hitstun so bad that they basically can’t be used in combos to good efficiency. You are always better off with Magneto or Doom over Storm if you want someone with that playstyle in the second slot.
Storm gets more out of MODOK than the other way around;especially if you’re willing to risk TAC’s. If you manage to almost kill a character and keep MAX POWER there’s nothing like a THC with MAXPOWER + Hailstorm to deter any and all assist calls. I used to play storm with DOK a lot but it’s not a power team. Outside a few gimmicks you’ll find yourself doing resets and more reads. (Not necessarily a bad thing but they are what they are, I see people do the dumbest things to get out an almost dead character.)
yeah i see what you guys are saying, and your right her assists dont really help modok too much and they definitely dont help him combo much, especially after so many hits (hitstun sucks for storms assist). I guess i will stick with jill, outside of hailstorm thats about all i see for, that and tac infinite’s.
The first team I tried in ultimate was Modok/Storm and I really wanted to figure out how to make them work because I found storm to be super fun to play. But Modok is a character that needs to get the maximum out of his assists to function well. He needs at least one primary neutral assist, and one combo extension assist, and really prefers when both assists do both. So, sadly, Storm’s assists really don’t fulfill either. if she had an assist that gave enough hitstun to combo into wallbounce after an optimized relaunch combo, I would be playing her right now.
Even though I hated the DHC glitch, I liked that it made Modok/Storm work pretty well in vanilla. Yokohama Modok’s vanilla team of Dok/Storm/Tron was awesome.
I need help with my Modok. I just picked him up 2 weeks ago and I don’t really have any REAL combos or setups with him. I’m just playing the character at the moment. I’m mostly learning his zoning and trying to be annoying right now. Going to play my friend who is still learning the game too so it’s my 2 week old team/characters versus a guy just learning so it’ll be rough for some of you but I’m trying to improve and I need your help so any tips or helpful advice is appreciated. Thanks guys
I don’t know if we’re only supposed to be posting useful videos here, but I found a glitch (which may have already been discovered?) with MODOK (though it might be universal with cinematic-supers).
Ah, you actually replicated this. This has happened to me twice in a real match with a friend of mine, but we could never seem to time the snap properly to get it to happen on purpose. Or is it because of the DHC? It is a pretty funny glitch though.
Also that is one of the strangest controllers I have ever seen.
Notice how he does his side TAC really high ( S, super jump, huge delay, normals, TAC). I find the following decently consistent even when the side TAC is done at very low heights (S, IP, TAC).
Side TAC infinite starter: delay, j.H, L cube, j.LM, L blaster, addf, j.M, fly~L cube, (j.M(M)H, L cube)x2, j.H, adf, j.LM, etc.
Yeah I was having trouble after the airdash d/f+H, but i noticed you replaced it with a M instead of a H. That looks more practical so that
you get them at the right height all the time, thx. Im trying to learn his infinite variations from the corner and mid screen, So I got a
2 videos Ive been studying. The Mid Variations are by you and the corner ones are by el gato, wish me luck in the lab
