Does this work midscreen?

Yes

didn’t catch thestream, but was browsing through. there is a modok/storm/doom team at around 59:00 of part 2
i don’t remember yokohama modok playing a team like that, but i can only read the katakana and it says something MODOK.

That was yokohama modok. Glad he still plays Modok in ultmate. Any other matches of him in the archive? Aside from some interesting teams, strats and underplayed characters getting some action it wasn’t that exciting. It was fun seein all these OG guilty gear players destroying people, though.

I saw another Modok near the end, but he got bodied… I don’t think he even got a hit in…

The japanese seem to love Vergil! I know that much… Heh

Vergil is too OP.

Zero, Vergil, Wesker, Dante they give me so much problems.

And honestly, Chris with that jump magnum backed by sentinel assist can wear down a zoning modok… even with barrier out there its liek he can just hit you at this weird angle.

Imo Chris is manageable, you just have to time your shots Chris can’t hit you unless you mess up your pacing in the game.
Zero yah, good luck with that. Dante/Wesker I’m cool with too…

Vergil my jury is still out on, but I may be fooling myself since I play that match up so much. Shit I’m so comfortable against the trench coats now I’m auto pilot but get blown up by like Haggar for free lol

I used to struggle aganist Chris because I had no idea to how to deal with that Magnum. Until I realize that Chris had a big obvious weakness…

What I mean is that Chris can’t catch a runaway Doom, Trish, etc because of SJ+Flight+diagonal projectiles. MODOK takes it to another level because MODOK can be so high up the screen that Chris must have anti-air assist to help in the match up. Even better MODOK can shoot across the field in the air, and shoot diagonally in the air. Combine this with how Point MODOK players will usually have MODOK flying to the very top of the screen, and Chris will struggle aganist MODOK.

As long as he doesn’t have Doom/Strider/Dante…the matchup is pretty easy for MODOK.

Cool I’ll take that advice and be more patient. I always feel like I need to get in. Anyway here is some recent jap modok stuff. Yokohama messing with that strider.

More in part 4

This descibes a lot of modoks matches imo. Don’t forget body attacks for extra mobility and if you have the right dhc you can kill assists in most cases. Some characters can’t do anything about it and you can force a lot of desparate mistakes

Best hulk i ever saw, and THAT"s how MODOK should be played

Not a bad MODOK but why Jam when you can kill? Unless you can’t Jam in the combo ie: Some throw setups or you already spent your assist for extended combo.

You can’t always kill, but with practice you can always jam if you hit someone and it just resets them over and over and is basically an assured kill anyways that keeps you safe from retaliation making things easier for you.

Having your controls go wonky can play mindgames with alot of players especially when it keeps happening off of any stray hit.And if a character is snapped out they will almost certainly have forgotten about jamming bomb by the time that character comes back in,setting up an easy kill for the future and once again playing devastating mindgames that set up a feeling of hopelessness, frustration and confusion for the opposing player.

In short, why go for what you thought was a sure kill and risk dropping the combo(which can be very likely in a professional setting, see cube combo above) when you can setup reset after reset and become almost totally safe while having the desired result? Frustration and caution could get so high that future matches against that opponent are easier, as they become desperate to take MODOK out and forget about his assists which can be activated from the air and lead to even more frustration.

With jamming bomb i think MODOK becomes a very very very serious threat to basically anyone in the game, while with just a TOD he’s just one of many, albeit fancier and easier-to-drop and get punished because of somewhat awkward hitboxes and startup times.

See above how after doom was hit with jamming bomb, the MODOK player actually missed his followup, but because jamming bomb was activated one of the hands down most dangerous characters in the game became a harmless puppy waiting to be brutalized again.

Because offline my sure kills, KILL them. No need to worry about them figuring out how to SJ U/B to kill time and live. I’m not saying you shouldn’t jam. My opponents who play me regularly actually manage being jammed pretty well, death on the other hand? There’s no figuring that shit out!

I think screen positioning plays into it as well. With my team, from just outside of miscreen any touch from throws, j.l, cr. H, sj.m etc will kill most of the cast. When too far from the corner I can definitely see jamming bomb as the best option since you won’t be killing them either way. its not wrong to try to jam them each combo becaue it does give modok a huge advantage and gimps a character almost guaranteeing another hit. In the end, combos are just a means to an end and you really just want to do solid damage and put your opponent at a disadvantage afterwards. But to me, if I can kill em I will kill em because killing a character and forcing them t deal with welcome mixups is a huge advantage too.

Zi seriously need to work on team synergy as I have yet to do a combo that can deal 1 mil + with modok and 1-2 bars.

What team do you play again? I’m sure we can get something going for you. I use sentinal and his assist makes a lot possible. Modok and sent are bffs for real because not only do drones help his rushdown but they add a lot of combo damage. If sure there are other assists that can put up good numbers too.

If i could have it my way, i’d prefer to run captain america /modok/ doom l. however, it seems i get more mileage out of modok himself when i use modok/doom/sentinel.

with team A i do well because shit captain America is crazy and i usually kill a character before bringing modok out via exchange or just dhc . the dhc compatibility sucks tho. with the latter team, i can usually convert into some simple combo that ends in jamming bomb. yet idk. i just can’t grasp the combo options outside of the corner. don’t know what i should concentrate on. also since modok is on point, i tend to lose modok to really aggressive players just because i have problems with his size. i feel like with the latter im playing 2 chars + an assist as i really suck with sentinel. with the first team i feel like i can play them all fairly well. of course my modok ciukd use some work but yeH

Royalflush putting in some work with his Thor/MODOK/Joe team http://www.twitch.tv/iebattlegrounds/b/306780927

I am sooooo going to steal that tech with Joe’s god hand slowing HSD to the point that MODOK does not a need TAC to do a TOD of cube combo. :sunglasses:

That and the Ammy’s vale of the mist is the second super capable of that feat.
