A couple of Yun changes in USF4 from Japanese loctest

According to Dawgtanian(Capcom UK Community Manager), EX red focus doesn’t cause any extra scaling.

It’s already been confirmed that it also does 1.5x more damage, no word on stun yet. But lets just say the stun is the same. So going by that maybe Yun players should dump fishing for Super for fishing into EX red focus combos. Either into Ultra 1 or into a EX palm combo(assuming you have full bars). Just a few numbers to throw at you guys

cr. MK, LP shoulder, EX red focus, Ultra 1, HP lunge punch = 522(and save a meter)
cr. MK, LP shoulder, EX red focus, EX palm, LP shoulder, HP lunge = 469 damage/825 stun

The first one is for guaranteed damage in case your opponent is close to death. The 2nd one is much more enticing at the beginning of a round or when you’re trying to make a come back because if you can complete that sequence a successful dive into a couple of normals or a command grab gets you a dizzy. Not sure how you guys feel about this, but I think it could be a pretty big deal for Yun.

its not a big deal cause hk upkick invincibility nerf puts Yun low tier.

He’s weak because everyone got new tools to use in their bad matches while Yun got absolutely nothing but nerfs.
-MP+60 isn’t gonna change any of his bad matches at all

The entire Yun community asked for one simple thing (restore dive kick recovery) and they didn’t even consider it.
Every damn characters except Fei and Yun received multiple buffs during location test, which is utter complete bull shit.

Man stop crying. The character is very complete as is and needs nothing.

Dwu buffs him
Red focus buffs him
His footsies go buffed
Punishes got buffed
Defense got buffed
Neutral game got buffed
Stun output got buffed
More ways to land ultra

The character can land his ultra from a cmd grab. A fucking cmd grb.

GUISE, HES BUFFED +10 damage on MP buffed his defense, its cool bros.

Yea, I’ve heard that as well. They can’t possibly nerf him anymore than he is now. No real Yun players are happy with the current changes.

Dive Kick has two more frames of ground recovery. Hit and block stun increased by two frames - This was a nerf in AE 2012 - Buff
H Nishokyaku invincibility time removed - Increase Hitbox so it hits crouching shoto’s - Buff
Zenpo Tenshin throw range reduced from 1.1 to 1.0 - Same
EX Zenpo Tenshin throw range reduced from 1.3 to 1.2 - Same
Remove being able to cancel Ex Shoulder into EX Command grab. - Nerf
All versions of Zenpo Tenshin now do 1 damage; take counter-hit damage during the move - This one can stay and Yun suffers the most out of it because of Combos, Genei Jin and his recovery is horrible. - Nerf
Far Standing MP and Crouching MP damage increased from 50 to 60- Buff

Possibly Jumping Forward Medium Kick increase hitbox so it can cross up?

Light upkicks to hit crouchers, hk upkicks got its invincibility removed because of a reason. Do i agree with this reason, absolutely not, but it is what it is.

The removal of 2 extra frames of landing recovery on his divekick and to compensate it should also do 2 frames less hit and block stun. Basically the same divekick but better on whiffed situations.

I think the above two are the main ones.

i have some friends at scr right now, does anyone want me to ask them to test anything out? yun can reversal lunge punch dp fadc backdash now which is nice.

Test:

Cr. mp, st. Mp xx xrf xx ultra
Cr. mp, st. Mp xx shoulder xx xrf xx ultra
Test to see if on just seeing the counter hit sign off a st. Mp, they can xrf xx ultra on reaction.

This got me thinking, now i’m trying to think what EX red focus can do for other characters against Yun, nice find. That 825 Stun is huge, all you would need is a cross up dive kick after or a hard attack on the entire cast and boom they are stunned. ( maybe one extra hit for T Hawk and Zangief)
Now that Far St. MP got buffed to equal the damage of Cr. MK that’s an alternate much easier way to start those combos you suggested, you’re on to something. Maybe Genejin might become useless in Ultra, if we play our cards right, and so does Capcom. Best part is all we need is 3 bars… if we have 1 left over, save it for a reversal or the next round.

Zangief and T Hawk will be impossible match up in Ultra. I tested T Hawk at the locktest and his Condor Spire LK is very hard to whiff punish in reaction compared to now.

What I’m most tempted to do is a command grab into cl. MP > LP shoulder(for less scaling and to be safer in case mess up the timing). This means your next attack does 70% damage so if you have a full Ultra stocked and use that and end with HP lunge, you will have done nearly 900 damage. It’s a fun scenario to play out in my head, but one that is not unlikely at all. This is something we can definitely see happening quite a lot in matches.

But the temptation to command grab is one that the opponent will probably suspect as well so you have to be very careful with how you approach. If I were facing a Dhalsim or Guile though I’d probably just go straight for overhead to get a 1 hit stun. I’m very curious to see if top Yun players will utilize red focus and if they end up dumping Genei jin for it.
