Unlike rufus,yun has a command guard aka guard break which combos into super->ultra.
Hey, Yun seems still to be getting the best of the USF4 system change.
The arcade release doesn’t have the better divekick and people there are still saying Yun is doing really good.
Yun is good, very good. Being thrown out of roundhouse upkick is a little annoying initially, but the other changes are well appreciated. Divekick change was noted. I will try to post more notes later. I tested him in training mode (it was available) and took notes.

I won’t keep my hopes up with their change to dive kick being back to how it should be, capcom is too retarded to understand you shouldn’t be able to get hit by a 5 frame DP on a dive kick that you purposely whiff infront of somebody.
I fully expect this to be reverted by the time console release is out.
Just 1 more +frame on block or less on whiff divekick yun would get so much off it.Learning OS, low health, learning to space a dive kick only to eat a jab,FA or ultra(that ground recovery).Yun is not a noob friendly character(not the hardest to use)capcom needs to change that if the want to appeal to more players.

If capcom is capable of making this intelligent change they may have also even fixed air tc whiffing.
I was watching yubiken this morning and noticed this yun player at around the 10:30 mark. He’s pretty solid, but really, yun’s damage off of a st.mp>lp.shoulder confirmed into red focus is ridiculous. Every time he gets 3 bars, he buffers the shoulder and gets promising results every time. I think even if they go back and nerf yun again, it won’t matter too much. He’s getting so much play off of these red focus combos and the mp damage buff only makes it better. Yun’s a character who benefits GREATLY from red focus since he doesn’t have a go-to fadc combo. What do you guys think? End of days or New hope?
Nobody is going to deny that he benefits very well off of RFC, that is why they’re having a hard time giving him any more buffs.
I still think he needs the rumoured dive kick buff though, then he would be pretty $$
Either way he’ll be good in Ultra if he stays how he is, and better if they give him the dive kick buff.
i only started playing Yun a couple months a go so my opinion may not be accurate but while the RDF lp shoulder look really good, i personally still prefer a genei , its just so much more fun to use … not to mention you can get from 420 to 600 dmg + from diverse genei/ex palm cancel/ultra combos already, but as you know they are a bit harder to use and sometime corner dependent ( half way to the corner could give 584 dmg tho )
i dont really mind the command grab nerf, the hk up kick might be a bit more problematic as the mk version is more susceptible to punish if whiffed , i just hope that they leave the AE dive kick version, its so important for pressuring in a more slow paced/defensive game that USF4 gonna be , i never understood why Rufus has such a better dive kick that can also lead to ultra, while Yun have the bad one wich very spacing dependent have height restriction and landing frames and cant go into ultra unless in specific placing
Genei Jin will still have its uses; I personnaly love the additional mix up after a reset at the end of GJ leading to immediate pressure and possibly a new (normal) combo. DMG quickly stacks up if sucessfull; you just need to have a good read on your opp. So for me it will be RFA to kill and Genei Jin for the mix up…
If only the dive kick buff will turn out true and will stay… would love to see that buff…
I just want to see the hurtbox on his divekick improved. It needs to be pushed upward and slightly backward. I’ve been jabbed out of a lk/mk divekick aimed directly above the head. Try putting the training dummy on a turbo’d jab. Crouching or standing, you need to be absurdly accurate with your divekicks as not to get anti-air jabbed. If they could just adjust the hurtbox, I think I could do without the frame buff.
Based on the Ultra SF4 mod, c.mp x2 -> s.mp xx LP Shoulder xx RFC > c.mp x2 -> s.mp xx HK upkicks = 346 damage.
c.mp x2 -> s.mp xx RFC -> dash -> Ultra 1 -> HP Lunge = 418 (fully charged).
It basically makes his Ultra 1 useless in combos.
That’s not optimal though you want to do just st.mp lp shoulder before RFC so you get less scaling on the ultra. Also s.mp xx lp shoulder xx RFC , dash , ex palm, lp shoulder, hp lunge does a lot and a great amount of stun (700+ or 800 I forget).
I don’t see the hurtbox being a problem… that just sounds like its being used too predictably in that case.
Yeah its the 4 frame landing recovery buff that I want… no more 6 frame landing recovery please! But this could just be a rumor I guess =/
The more time goes on the more it appears to be a rumour. You’ll find people talking about it on forums saying they heard this and that but you’ll find there’s actually no evidence anywhere. I spent ages looking for it on twitter, searching various pros profiles to see if anything has been said and found nothing. Even searching key words on twitter like yun and ultra or yun and divekick got me nothing on his divekick.
All the other changes like guiles health etc have been confirmed, still no news on yun and in fact a few counter rumours saying combofiend has said it has not been changed. I’m calling BS. I can’t find any evidence anywhere, pretty sure it would have been reported by some of the top players who have been tweeting non stop about other character changes. Somebody was more than likely trolling (or just genuinely mistaken) about yuns changes.
Why can’t capcom release a list of the NEW changes at NMW/stunfest? USF4 is one giant mess right now and still no release date.
Also, I don’t think we’ll see the AE frauds come back to yun. Even IF the divekick buff was to be true, he’s still 100x worse than he was in AE. People jumped on him because he was broken as hell and therefore easy to win with. He’s still a great character but he’s not broken easy mode anymore and there’ll definitely be a good few characters better than him. Lets not forget one of his worst matchups is shaping up to be the best character in the game. The tiger army is indeed upon us. lol. T-hawk is also getting buffed out his ass and hugo now exists.
I feel as if they should have released a list for every location test. That way we would have known exactly how characters are being tweaked. I don’t like how they kept a lot of the tests changes a secret.
Agreed. I hope I’m wrong but it seems to show a lack of confidence.
When you have 3 stocks, not 4 and are hit confirming, you don’t have the luxury of just doing one s.mp. The combo you mention is a 4 bar combo, not 3.
The combos I mentioned are the ones that are seeing actual play.
