A couple of Yun changes in USF4 from Japanese loctest

One MP into LP shoulder and then Super is a very common hit confirm for Yun players to land Super. Hardly any Yun players will waste Super on long hit confirms, and the same will go for RFC. Doing just one st. MP into LP shoulder gives you plenty of time to confirm and is safe against almost everybody in this game on block. The only thing you have to worry about is if your opponent is prepared and can reliably focus the shoulder or throw in a invincible reversal in the gap between st. MP and LP shoulder.

If I’m using 3 MP’s for hit confirms and it hits then I will just finish the combo with lunge or up kicks and save the meter for when I can land a shorter confirm or just use it eventually if my opponent is close enough to death. If you watch Kazunoko or other Yun players lately, they’re always looking for just one far MP or cr. MK, LP shoulder, RFC, whatever.

1 sMP xx LP shoulder is plenty of time to hit confirm lol

I know for sure im going to start using the target combo (slp-slk-smp) a lot more… The meter that thing builds is insane. Im surprised its not being used more often currently. I used it in vanilla AE but started using it much less in '12 and I dont really know why.

That TC is amazing to whiff punish. Or when your timing is too piss poor to punish with mp like mine. Scaling hurts though :(. That’s probably why it isn’t very popular. But if Yun keeps this mp buff, I won’t feel as bad using this TC.

speaking of meter, what would be the best way to grab meter off like a point blank crLP ?

Denial of reality. More often than not, Yun players are blowing red focus on multiple c.mp hit confirms into shoulder. Getting it from s.mp is just a bonus.

Optimise your theory and combos for what people actually do. Players rarely land the absolute perfect combos.

Think you may be talking about a different target combo (mp-hp-back hp)? I’m referring to the target combo that begins with close standing light punch. Its not really a whiff punish.

f.MP x LP shoulder is quite easy to hitconfirm into Super or RFA during footsies. I am an old man with piss poor reactions and do it all the time consistently even in online matches.

Maybe they want to avoid the reversal risk inbetween if on block or are still experimenting with it. Or just take the opportunity to extend a combo for the life lead…

I don’t know what you’re talking about. As someone who regularly watches kazunoko the only time he ever uses EXRF in a combo longer than st.mp xx lp shoulder is when the round is about to end and he can finish it off even with the massive scaling. The same goes for genei jin. Every good yun I have seen so far uses red focus after st.mp xx shoulder because it’s more than enough time to hit confirm.

It’s not a case of being some type of rare perfect combo, yun players land st.mp xx shoulder xx genei jin almost once every game because the combo is easy to hit confirm, the same applies for red focus.

Literally every time I have seen kaz play ultra he’s fishing for red focus with what he always does, st.mp xx shoulder. Anything longer than that is a rare occurrence and is just him messing around with friends/lower level players.

Yeah in footsies buffering lp shoulder into mp is an OS if mp hits then shoulder comes out and you have like five years to confirm that the shoulder is hitting to hit the red focus command because of how active the shoulder is. I don’t think I’ve seen any other confirm for super or RFC other than either st.mp or cr.mk into lp shoulder xx w/e. These confirms are easy and necessary to yun.

both st.mp xx shoulder and cr.mk xx shoulder are fairly easy to hit confirm, i’m not sure why people seem to think you need to adapt to cr.mp, cr.mp st.mp xx shoulder first lol?
you have sooo much time in the gap between MP and the shoulder

I’ve been trying to get the hang of Yang but i keep going back to my homie yun :frowning: can’t wait to play around with RFC soon!

Some new gameplay of kazunoko playing yang and he’s starting to look pretty good. If the divekick buff is BS then I’d say yun and yang will be on equal footing in ultra.

I like to watch a lot of replays online when I get bored of playing and I’ve seen a sudden surge in the number of yang replays.

Daigo on yun in USF4!

"Yun, as in previous versions, uses his high mobility to move in against his opponent, and mixes up with his command throw, which remains unchanged in this version. His usual combo, with crouching medium punches into standing medium punches now does more damage since they increased the power of these attacks.

There are many opportunities to land this now, so I think this a pretty strong buff for him. Also, this isn’t exactly a change for Yun specifically, but because of the addition of Red Focus, there are a lot more opportunities to land his Ultra 2, Sorai Rengeki, which means it might be more viable against certain fireball characters.

His Ultra 2 wasn’t bad in the previous version, but rather that his Ultra 1, You Hou, was so strong that there wasn’t much point in not choosing You Hou, which was what everybody ended up doing. But by doing something like this, he gets a full animation of his Ultra 2, so I think it might be a more viable choice than it has been previously.

This time, Yun hasn’t gotten that many buffs, but thanks to the addition of Red Focus and the changes to Shoryuken -> FADC on other characters, I think that he’s become a lot stronger since the last version relative to other characters. His fighting style itself hasn’t changed at all, so I really believe that people who enjoy Yun can keep going with him and still have fun."

So basically the beast confirms that we were right. Character changes are meh, system changes are the real buffs and his gameplay remains the same.

Yes. lp, lk, mp. I whiff punish with it all the time. Doesn’t work if you’re too far obviously.

I don’t think you know what whiff punishing is if you’re doing it with close LP

cst.LP TC is good because your opponent can’t focus/mash LP Shoulder.

Actually yeah didn’t realize it but that TC is like … 20+50+80+whatever you tack on at the end… damn haha.

I think capcom forgot to remove the meter build on that TC lol

Because no one used it lol Daigo was the only Yun I know that did it consistently in block strings

LOL

sigged

staahp it, everybody is supposed to run away from yun. We are the yun hipsters!
