A couple of Yun changes in USF4 from Japanese loctest

The +10 damage buff would have been good if they had not added the damage nerfs on tenshin…

How wil this 10 damage buff improve his difficult matchup,He needs some gameplay buffs not damage buffs,If capcom Japan think like that they should make lk dp to hit crouchers,coz without ex Yun is now free,and after Oni’s DP buff,Yun is the only one now who cannot FADC his upkicks.

I agree on 1 and 3 (but maybe give invul to mk upkicks instead of lk?), but don’t really see 2 as necessary. The super generally gives you a large amount of damage and an air reset or hkd, the challenge is in landing it as unscaled as possible like from cmk xx lp shoulder or smp xx lp shoulder with a very optimized combo, and the current version encourages you to use it as intelligently as possible. I think it’s fine as long as we have a meterless reversal option, as any use of ex upkicks as a reversal would not only carry it’s current risk but will now also cripple meter management for the super.
So in addition to having a meterless reversal option back and the dk rebuff, I think he could also do with:
Fixing air tc whiffing (does capcom even know about this?)
Rebuffing mk upkicks to 130 OR fixing hk upkicks to connect on standing shoto hitbox
Getting rid of the cmd grab scaling nerf

These changes would be what I think is a complete, fair USF yun. Slightly better damage, nerfed reversal but still has a meterless option (I personally don’t see the issue with hk upkicks) and much needed quality of life buffs, but he still keeps decent risk with approaching and low hp (I used to think this needed a buff, but 900 is fair).

I am interested to hear your opinions, the yun forums have slowed a lot now. I really enjoy playing him and his design, but if he goes into usf in his current nerfed iteration he won’t be viable and barely played. And no, +10 on mediums alone isn’t going to save him against matchups like usf hawk.

I didnt mention the med upkicks coz some people would still complain about it being hard to punish…That 1 sec is not so necessary…but it is will help him for sure… Im very dissapointed by these nerfs…And this char will be dead if he is not given something to compensate for…

All of the current changes are fine
Just add to the list:

  • L Upkicks hit crouchers
    -Health to 950(perferably) or Ultra 2 damage buff
  • and if its not too much to ask, improved forward hitbox on hard upkicks <- if this one comes true, i tip my hat to Capcom

    With these changes they will have made Yun a deadly character (like they promised all ultra characters would be, but at the same time not going crazy)
    I can understand why Combofiend would not want to buff Medium upkicks from 110-back to 130 cause you basically do get a free safe jump that beats 4 frame reversals after all, from anywhere one screen might i add. So the improved hard upkick hit box would put in work

These are the final changes i want

  1. Make LK up kick hit Crouchers in exchange for HK invulnerability

  2. Fix Air TC whiffing on certain characters FA

  3. undo command grab range nerf, but keep the scaling nerf if possible give EX CG throw invincibilty

That’s pretty much it. I felt Yun is perfect in AE 2012 besides air TC.

Hk Upkicks dmg increase
Hk Upkicks hits at any range from a combo
Air TC fix
u1 dmg buff
give back his corner plm combos
make his clst fierce useful

I would like to see his double palm back cause without that he doesnt have any damaging post stun combo in the corner,For that to happen Capcom just have to remove that additional 2 frames

You can use palm, ex kicks, lp lunge. decent damage for one bar.

I think that double palm combo did more and was meterless

He doesn’t need any of that shit, aside from fixing the JF target combo. Those “suggestions” from yun4prez would make him broken again.

If they removed invincibility from HK up kicks for the reason whooisodis(this person suppose to be Juilo?) mentioned, then no way in hell is he getting invincibility on LK up kicks since it would be an even better reversal. Starts up much faster, recovers much faster and gives him plenty of time to empty jump or attempt his normal dive kick game.

This is what I would ask for and hopefully it would be considered fair

-1 frame of recovery and hit stun removed from his current dive kick which would help him avoid getting crumpled when people just react to his dive kick with focus attack.

-float time on EX up kicks increased. Since Yun has to commit a bar to reversal without any way of making it safe and not having ideal positioning after LPlunge. I figure they could at least give him the ability to do MP lunge for a bit more damage and better positioning.

-undo range nerf on command throw, keep the scaling nerf though. With EX red focus combos, his damage and stun would be a little too obscene from a simple command grab.

That’d be it and I think it’s reasonable considering the nerfs he’s being hit with and will probably keep.

High damage corner palm combos are not needed back. Post stun in the corner he already gets decent damage or a strong mixup, what’s the justification for that to be increased? Damage-wise his issue was low damage bnbs, and that’s being addressed with the c/smp buff (but still needs the shoto hitbox issue fixed). It seems like some of those proposed changes are being thrown at him just for the sake of being buffs.

Ya,that Guy is Julio.So u want the AE Ex upkicks back right??cause the distance travelled on whiff was nerfed in AE 2012.I think that would be gud buff.

No, I don’t want AE up kicks back. I just want the opponent to float a little longer when hit so that he can connect MP lunge against the whole cast. This would also help make EX up kicks > Ultra 1 easier in the corner as well, which would helpful. It’s a small damage buff with better positional to help him maintain pressure after landing a EX upkick.

I didn’t say it would alone, but it addresses his damage concern adequately enough. Which is why there are other proposed buffs in this thread to address his other issues.

I switched to Rufus about 2 months ago cuz Of the changes and I just went back to him today and realized how much I missed yun he’s much more fun to play I’m gonna stick with him regardless
