720s FTW! (T-Hawk thread)

use cr.forward a lot vs cammy.

^-^;;

you have blanka listed at 6-4 matchup in his favor, just a bit above even, but over in the blanka thread i found this list someone had compiled

EASY

  1. Zangief
  2. T-hawk
  3. Guile
  4. Dictator
  5. Cammy
  6. E. Honda
  7. Ken
  8. Dhalsim
  9. Claw
  10. Ryu
  11. Sagat
  12. Chun Li
  13. Fei Long
  14. Boxer
  15. Dee Jay
  16. Akuma

HARD

it has T. Hawk listed as his 2nd easiest matchup, why do you think that is? being his 2nd easiest match up i’d imagine it be more in blanka’s favor than 6-4

i dont find that match to hard. blankas big scary bite game is nullified by the fact that 360 has a lot more range so ticks become less useful. jump jab shuts down a lot of blankas ground game and he can only anti air you if he has a down charge. rapid fire cr.jabs beat balls, slides, and some pokes. cr.forward and st.forward also shut down a lot of blankas shit. however,

the problem against blanka is you cant safe jump against him. at all. his blanka ball hits on the first frame (i think the up one or horizontal, maybe both) so theres no “loop” or free jump ins. his invincible j.lk is also a pain because you have to dp so deep and hawks a huge hitbox which makes it all the more difficult. PLUS it can crossup and lead to a big combo (dizzy combo maybe? i dont play blanka) a smart turtle blanka can give hawk a headache but blanka is no way a honda or guile threat.

Meaty cr.strong seems to work wonders versus Blanka, since it pushes him out of Bite range even when it connects.

I’ve been using it in ST instead of safe-jumps against Blanka, they’re kinda useless as mentioned in the post above. One can even do a safe SUPER attempt afterwards.

Crouching Blanka and Dictator:
j.jab and j.short will completely whiff versus these guys if they’re crouching, either use j.d+strong or j.forward -> cr.jab -> negative edge Typhoon versus Dictator if he’s cornered.

Blanka has at least two dizzy combos from a crossup :lk:…both of them could be ToDs. I just posted them in the Blanka thread earlier this morning. His crossup game is quite deadly.

You also have to remember that it’s basically impossible to tick throw Blanka. His backwards hop (with reversal timing) will get him out every time with (as far as I can tell) little to no risk.

Dont’ forget electricity, if he mashes this and you jump you are getting hit, nothing hits him out of it cept j.fp (sometimes) everything else wont hit. also any jump in in lk or lp leads to dizzy combo (c.mk, c.mk xx ball) and if he screws up he is safe. I play blanka so I know. I think a actual good blanka beats T.Hawk, just by normals alone. I do agree though, Blanka must work, unlike Honda or Guile who are easy mode. A non-scrubby Blanka probably goes 6-4 in Blanka’s favor. Scrubby Blankas just die a horrible death after a knockdown.

I just saw this. T.hawk doesnt really have any unwinnable watches. Yeah honda is like 9-1 and guile is ridic hard but they ARE winnable. Ive beaten plenty of good hondas and guiles and you just really have to be patient. Yes I agree new dive is shitty. That doesnt mean hes all of a sudden the worst character. Fei and cammy are loads worse. Id put hawk smack in the middle of the pack.

So is it confirmed that 720 does not come out when playing on the right side or am I doing it wrong? I get it 75% of the time on the left, but everytime I try to get it out from the right side I get a normal 360. What am I doing wrong?

I spin the stick fully twice real fast and it always comes out for me. Are you guys on ps3 or 360 version, Im on both but play ps3 more.

How exactly are you doing the 720? In other games I always did 720s starting at up, so I’d finish with a HCB/HCF. In HDR though that half circle seems to overlap with the new motion, and the new motion takes priority. Basically what I end up doing to make 720s work is:

U,UF,HCB,UB,U,UF,HCB,F+P

The game seems to ignore the non-bold directions, so I’m forced to finish with F+P.

Fei is better than T.Hawk. What’chu talking about gridman! I use Fei too.
It’s situational to be hones

Jumping 720’s work for me as well as buffing it from a standing forward. Execution is important. I do like the new motion though. It’s so much easier.

Raging- PS3. More user friendly. Plus it’s free.

from the 2p side i have to do either a full 720 motion or the hcf hcf b + p motion reallllllllllllly slow compared to left side.

i think fei vs hawk hawk wins. fei may have an easier time with some of hawks harder matchups (guile, deejay…) but hawk does better against sim rog and honda (i think). honestly i dont think hawk is GLARINGLY better than fei but he definitely beats fei. 360 takes away CW completely and you have to be extra careful about rekka spacing.

How exactly does he beat Fei. I dont see any real advantages on either side.

LIke I was saying, it’s really situational for the most part. 5-5 I would say. It’s funny you say it’s in Hawk’s favor since you posted this:

Let’s talk about vs. Akuma/Shotos (Good ones) instead.

I"ll post a link up for a vid since I was testing a camera I received.

there nice and neat…?

It’s because of the format of your list. Put your Hawk ratios on the left and the opponents on the right. They are mixed between left and right. Just put Hawk’s on the left. That’s all. Some of them though don’t seem to fit based on my experiences.

In my experience so far, I’ve done very well against some good Dhalsim players and I don’t consider myself a great T-Hawk player yet (working on it!).

My opinion right now is that T-Hawk-Dhalsim is at least 5-5 or even in Hawk’s favor.

I’m very curious about 7-3 Hawk over Sagat though. I kind of see that the other way around.

Maybe if you’re dsylexic
