That’s my trolling face. Since I started using Dan, it’s been practically stuck in that position.

Anyone else notice in the SSFIV Manual Dan’s title/tagname is “Hell’s Angel” ? Am i missing something here?

In case you guys are wondering, Tarzan Dan is now available on XBL (and probably PSN as well, haven’t checked…).

I just ate a Raging Demon trying to neutral jump… shoulda mashed Ultra ftw. Will his Haoh Gadoken beat out the Raging Demon like the Shissho Buraiken? I haven’t tried it yet.

I was testing some out, Far standing MK reaches pretty far. Close Standing HK can antiair…

Haoh Gadouken should actually be better than Shissou Buraiken for beating Raging Demon since it has more invulnerability, it’s fully invulnerable up until shooting out the massive Saikyo Ball too so it’s not like it can miss early and cut its invulnerability short either.

Good normals: far s.MK, close s.MP, c.MK, c.HP, all jabs and shorts.
Okay normals: c.MP, far s.MP, close s.HP.

Close s.HK attacks deceptively low for the animation, or should I say it doesn’t seem to hit high enough but I don’t think it’s all that reliable as an AA.

Generally you’ll use s.MK, c.MK combos and Gadouken for poking. s.MP for combos and c.HP for punishment combos. c.MP isn’t bad for priority and using for cancelling into Dankuu for pressure, far s.MP has pretty good priority for counter poking but range is pretty limited.

Dan doesn’t really have good footsies so don’t expect to win a toe to toe battle. I stand within c.MK/s.MK range and be patient. Gadoken are good to throw out after a c.MK. out of your oppenents poking range, use MP or HP versions. Wait for an opporitunity for c.MP LK Danku, I’ve managed to do it after the opponents blockstrings. When that happens keep doing it, with mixups of Danku hopovers and throws and keep pressure. Expect your opponent to mash but if you’re doing it right it should beat out a lot of stuff.

Not a great Dan player but that’s what I’ve observed. J.LK beats out a lot of stuff in air. I wouldn’t use anything else.

was just thinking, for n0obs like me with bad execution (compounded by nerves in a tense match), after walking fwd and going for the c.MK -> gadouken combo, I find myself cancelling into a HP-KRK instead and eating a punish-combo. I’ll probably switch to LP gadoken since a LP-KRK mistake is harder to punish.

Also, for kicks, I tried messing around with ken & ryu challenge trials. hahaha, after using DAN for so long, using those guys feels like driving my father-in-law’s new beamer after driving my 1990s corolla!!! Then I realized I’m not an insecure little man with a mid-life crisis … I eat beans while standing over the sink for dinner! saikyo 4 life!!!

LP Gadouken probably goes as far as s.MK :confused: HP Gadouken is great for when you’re just out of their poking range. Just need to remind yourself not to walk forward and Gadouken, I know I’ve fallen into that trap a few times too :frowning:

Gadokens are good for stopping runs. Usually I stand there in Dan’s cool pose and wait for them to charge at me then BAM! Works good against Guy. HK Dankus are good in punishers, and for Ibukis, they go over her Neckbreakers and if you spam it they’ll usually eat it til they catch on. Sometimes I use EX Danku on wakeup for sticky situations, though I don’t recommend it.

If someone throws out Ryu or Ken’s Tatsu, crouch taunt that shit. Also had crouch taunt stuff Ibuki’s Ultra, and her kunai can be beat if you’re good enough with jump taunt. Sometimes to throw people off after a throw I usually do ass slap taunt and cancel it to another throw. Also jumping then late Danku can catch people off guard as well.
