Used the power of Saikyo to defeat a damn good Seth player last night. I was under pressure and low on health, but I waited for her to make a mistake and capitalized. Dan still gives out beatings like a charity worker.
I’m planning to go to the next SF tourney at Tsubasacon with Dan. The road to Saikyo perfection resumes now!
I’ve been using my sticks exclusively since I got my first stick last August.
But for my playstyle, Ultra II is utterly useless, I can’t FADC worth shit. I -can- land Ultra I all over the place though.
I’m trying to remember who learned that in the Vanilla PS3 Dan-tourney, name escapes me right now.
When I win, it’s usually through mindgames and solid fundamentals, more than any of this fancy new-fangled finger waggling nonsense like FADC.
… god, I wish I could FADC. I’m too sodding old, damn my reflexes.
I think that was me. You landed a ton on my Dan… I wasn’t used to being on the receiving end of it.
I’m in the same boat as you, old and slow and not really willing to sit in training mode to get it down. The thing is I’m using Ultra II in much the same way that I land most of my Ultra Is, mainly to counter wake up pressure. It might have a little less range but it is far more effective against jump in, and if blocked adds some chip damage. I think it is the clear cut winner… until people adjust, then we’ll need to learn gain some reliable FADC skillz.
I’m loving KRK FADC > Ultra, it’s delicious! Nothing to do with reflexes, my reflexes are crap, just need a bit of dexterity.
This is essentially what I do: F D DF F+P F+MP+MK F+MP+MK QCFx2+KKK
F D DF F for Kouryuken because it covers two options (F D DF & F DF F)
F+MP+MK x2 because my brain can’t pat my head and rub my stomach at the same time so it’s just easier to double tap the buttons.
Just to elaborate on the Haoh Gadoken invincibility I mentioned before, I decided to try to get a chip win on a Cody with it, so I did it point-blank against his wakeup. He did his own Ultra, Final Destruction, in retaliation while I was winding up. Despite the slow windup of Haoh Gadoken, we wound up trading hits with the Ultras, with him taking the worst of it as he ate the whole 6 hits while I just took the one. I imagine I probably could have comboed off the trade like Ryu could, had it not won the game for me.
Makes me wonder, in a case like that, what move should we use to combo? I’m guessing HK Danku is the best bet, because we’d probably need to EX a Koryuken for it to hit, and would only get one hit out of it. And now I’m curious to set up a Balrog to do a Final turn punch against Dan and see if trading with that can let us combo two Haoh Gadokens together.
That seems really good, i mean, trading hits on the opponent’s wake up against an ultra(Final Destruction) that once it lands the first hit you enter into the “off game” screen, different from “Last Dread Dust”, not to mention a possibility of a combo as you said. Do you know which other ultras Haoh Gadouken can surmount when used on the opponent’s wake up?
Haoh Gadouken knock down only on the final hit or on the first one that lands? Have to be careful if you hit it with something that’ll alter the juggle limit you’ll end up getting less hits from the Haoh Gadouken or worse, may reset them and barely land any hits from it. EX Gadouken seems like a safe bet, I think Ryu manages to tag a Tatsu on the end of his somehow but that has better JP than Dankuu…
Also if you haven’t already check out the day 2 combos, there’s one of Dan
Yeah, some of his normals still feel like they take 10 000 years to come out, and he still doesn’t have a good anti-air normal game or footsie game (which sucks, cause if he did, Dan would be GOAT. Well, he already is GOAT, but more people would believe it)
Man if Dan had Guy’s Hozanto I’d happier than a pig in shit. I’ve been playing Guy online (getting my ass handed to me mostly) but that move is awesome.
HOZANTO! Managed to do all of Guy’s trials, some crazy shit combos he has Incidentally target combos are a bit stricter on timing now, not that it makes any difference for Dan
