This. I prefer Ultra 1 as well, mainly because I don’t have to worry about having two bars before I can ultra, which means more EX dankyus

i’m on the fence. I was never really excited about it… Ultra I is AMAZING on your wakeup against pretty much anything other than a jump in. We’ll see how it works out. Chip damage is nice though…
The thing is, you should still be able to use Haoh Gadoken for invincibility in any case where you’d normally use Shisso Buraiken. I’ve done it on wakeup to hit a Ryu that’s tried a meaty fireball on me, and it worked just fine. It does do less damage than Shisso Buraiken, of course, but it offers the extra versatility of being much more easily comboed into in addition to still serving many of the purposes Shisso Buraiken did before.
While frame data isn’t out yet, I’m going to go out on a limb and say Haoh Gadoken has the most invincibility of any projectile Ultra. It probably has even more than Shisso Buraiken.
(edit: Okay, maybe not Seth’s Ultra, but still…)
Haha, its now my goal to chip death someone with crouch taunt.
Range is where (I think) it loses.
More invincibility than Shissou? Sheet. I was actually expecting a Metsu Hadouken kinda thing where you’d trade with stuff a lot of the time but that’s not really a bad thing since it cancels recovery and you’re ontop on damage The good thing about Shissou Buraiken when it comes to invincibility is that when combined with that little dash he does, plus it being a 1-hit activation it’s able to do quite a lot of kooky stuff with it
There really is no need for Shissou Buraiken anymore, the only combo that Haoh Gadouken can’t do is probably that EX Gadouken > Shissou in the corner with perfect spacing but how often have you actually done that in a match? The only reason why I can think of people not liking Haoh Gadouken is because they’re unable to KRK FADC since that’s most likely going to be the bulk of landing it. Learn it, use it, love it.
So are we gonna get started on that new matchup thread D-bus?
I can start a new Dan combo thread, it’ll be more to the point, I’ll update the first post and all if I make it. The Dan forums are chill, I don’t think it’ll be spamming it up any. All his old stuff should work, and some Haoh Gadoken combos as well. I’ll make it if we want it.
I think its overdue, all the old threads got overcrowded. I know Krakatoa, Sugami, and a few others still remember all the nuggets that got buried in there.
Can you still focus -> c.FP -> Super Taunt -> Ultra with U2?
I do believe so. I don’t see why not, but I haven’t tried it yet.
dude…just like Dan has no money to pay his phone bills LMFAO xD YOU ARE TRUE SAIKYO WARRIOR RIGHT HERE
Someone loan Dan a few bucks. He won’t pay you back though…
Ooops. Sorry. Ultra II is hands down better. Holy shit. And I still can’t FADC to save my life.
im sorry if i couldn’t help myself, but when i realized that dans crouch taunt can actually STUFF moves (didnt see if it causes damage), I literally fell outta the chair laughing my fool ass off.
The fact my opponent could be heard going “what the FUCK?” over his headset, did not help
The fact that you can get a Haoh Gadoken off a LK Danku in the corner puts the fear of the superstar demi himself into your opponents. It really steps his LK Danku sheninigans game up substantially. He’s still the worst character, but at least he has a reason to be used. I really think that Dan is much more viable now. It makes me cry manly, manly tears. It also steps up his anti air game, since LP KRK is his only real anti air, you can get his Ultra 2 off of that too.
I highly doubt that is true anymore. With all the nerfs most characters got and the buffs Dan got, he’s at LEAST mid tier now. Now he feels like Ryu without that great of normals.
Either way, lowest tier or mid, he feels like he has at least one good thing going for him, it kinda makes up for his bad things.
The question is: Dan Hibiki: Street Fighter, or Streetest Fighter?
Time to start practicing, if I can do it you can too
Classic
No, Dan is still low/bottom tier. Whether he’s still the worst is yet to be seen. The only buff Dan got was Haoh Gadouken, anything else is so small it’s pretty insignificant, this doesn’t help out our match-ups but only enables us to deal more damage with meter.
On the contrary, I think it helps our matchups across the board… but if we’re talking about tiers, it’s about his matchup ratios totaled via a point system, not “how much better” he is. We should do a new matchup thread sometime, and see where he stands.
I don’t see how it’ll help him deal with tricky match-ups, just allows Dan to make the most of certain situations but the trouble match-ups will still be trouble because he still lacks the tools to deal with it.
