Dan has some serious issues that need to be fixed, mainly hit-boxes on Dankuu that stops it from comboing on crouching characters.
Given other characters are being buffed, we don’t want to be left behind in the dust. You’ve heard what Seth said about Rose. As far as tools go we don’t really need anything new, besides the new Ultra and Ultra Taunt, but buffing out current ones would/could go a long way.
If ultra taunt really comes in, then I don’t need another ultra :lol:, all I want would be force stand on close s.HP.
All right, it’s a bit late, but here are the list of his Japanese taunts, but only the ones that I did not mention in legendary taunt.
Taunt #8: ??? (oresama ni desi iri ssuka?) - You want to be my apprentice?
Taunt #9: ???~! (koshi ga haitte ne ze) - Your waist is unbalanced :lol: (Translation that doesn’t sound odd would be “your body is weak”)
Taunt #10: ???, ??? (kakutougi temon wakat cha ine) - You don’t know something called ‘martial arts’ (had a huge problem getting this)

Btw, has anyone tried c.MK xx MK Danku on crouching, no blocking ryu in close range? Result looks rly weird, but not useful since opponent must not be blocking.

Haven’t tried that, thought you said EX and did it wrong, maybe later :lol: I tried the “make Ryu disappear” trick with nj.HP > c.MK xx Gadouken xx EX Focus Attack (crumple) > back dash > Ultra and I could just make out his hand before he got a beating :lol:
Yeah. Ryu’s hitbox has a tendency to render him immune to Danku combos if he’s caught crouching at the right distance. I can’t think of anything useful about it.
close s.MP xx MK or HK Danku seems to work on crouching ryus, unlike s.HP. This game gives me too much brainwork with odd hitbox on each character :lol:
Surprisingly many opponents seem to fall for this: KO them, EX danku or LK danku to go over to the other side right b4 they wake up, grab
Worked on VanDAN once or twice, and then I got destroyed :lol:. Also it has a disadvantage of being impossible/hard to stand taunt (except for #9), and being predictable after showing it once, which then should be mixed up with s.HP xx another danku from the other side. Works very well against unsuspecting SRK mashers, not so much with charging characters.
Btw, I was thinking what Dan was lacking in this game… He doesn’t have the forward roll taunt and backward roll taunt! :lol: Even though SVC Chaos wasn’t my favourite game, I’d like to see his Gado Shoukou Ken once more.
That combo is actually in the combo thread already. I think all the information threads need a good recompilation, but with SSFIV around the corner, it may be better just to hold off for a few months.
Sanford is never going to play dan in a major. Kuroda OCV’d jwong and ricky o. He continues to OCV good and great players with one of the worst characters in the game in a game with much worse matchup imbalance than sf4.
I agree that Dan seems to have less depth than most characters in the game but looking at Maj’s TACVs proves that assuming there can’t be more to find is dangerous.
Anyway my posts were/are part tongue-in-cheek finger wagging, part-frustration with most posters everywhere. I mean, just peeking in the SSF4 board if you have any kind of knowledge of SF4 (or 3S for that matter) is enough to give you a goddamn hemmorhoid.

Dan will never win a major, cause no one will ever major in Saikyo. No one wants to take the time or grow the balls to do it cause their “dignity” is on the line.
