Woo! After 4 months of owning the game and 450 hours of play, I have gotten all the way from G3-E to G1-E using Dan and Dan alone. Unfortunately, I didn’t rank up on a Championship win, but a Runner Up versus a Sagat. Still, it’s better than Ranking up in the 2nd Battle or something. 
Today is a good day.
Edit: Since this is the PC version, I guess I’ll start back over from G3, seeing as how there’s no G1 competition. D:

I thought Dan had got over Sagat since he beat him after Alpha 2? Alpha 3 his sub-rival was Chun-Li only because she thought he worked for Shadoloo :lol: Main rival Sagat again but he just wanted to make him learn Saikyo-ryuu
Also about Dan’s sweep being backwards, has it occured to y’all that his is in fact the only one that isn’t backwards? A “proper” sweep should take out the legs from behind, not the front
The katakana in dummy, spells ‘aho’ if read from up to down, which means idiot or something similar :P, wish he could do that (stand on to someone) in one of his win quotes.
Let’s not forget about Abel’s sweep as well, but no offense intended, he’s just not Saikyo.

I actually find that very interesting. I can’t read katakana or kanji so I wouldn’t notice that. Does he sound like that in SFIV and previous games to you as well?
I’ve noticed he rolls his r’s like Spanish ones sometimes, like his Koryuken and Koryurekka in A2 and A3, and in his entrance for SFIV. I thought Japanese r’s were pretty soft.

I’m not sure if all Japanese people do that with English ‘Y’ words or if it’s just Dan or a minority (people with certain accents).
The way Dan talks in Japanese sounds very rough and unrefined, I’m guessing he has an accent but I have no knowledge of various Japanese accents so couldn’t say what kind of accent he has. In anime any character with a kansai accent (think that’s southern Japan) are always given a southern accent in the dub. ‘R’ sounds in Japanese are kinda soft rolled 'R’s, I can’t really describe it but that’s kinda normal, Dan tends to exaggerate these things.
<edit>Something I haven’t quite figured out when Dan starts his Legendary Taunt does it sound like “kuso ga” or “iku zo kore”? Former means “shit yeah” or possibly “you (little) shit”, latter is something like, “Let’s get this going” (guess better translation would be “Let’s get it on” or something :P). The latter is also what he says at start (minus the “yosha!”) and what he said in Alpha. </edit>
Would be pretty funny to hear Dan say, “Faruco paunchi! Hyes!”
I would guess it’s ‘Iku zo kore’ at the start of the Legendary Taunt, since the English voice says ‘Here I come!’, which is pretty much the same meaning as ‘Lets get it on’. If you want to try to hear the Japanese voice clip in more detail, it’s also used in Taunt 6, so you can check it there more easily.
I believe the Japanese voice has two different recordings of ‘Cho yoyuse’ as well, one during Taunt 5/Legendary Taunt, and one (sounding much more mocking) as a round win quote. The English translates them into two different terms, with the Taunt 5/Legendary Taunt one being “Piece of cake!”, and the round win quote being “No problem!”. They both mean essentially the same thing, so I find it kind of neat that they’d take the time to make seperate translations, presumably taking advantage of having more ways in English to state the same point.
Some of the translation is way off, like the “Hope you’re ready for a beating.”, he says nothing of the sort Don’t even get me started on the Shissou Buraiken and Hisshou Buraiken start-up
“chou” literally means super, ultra, hyper or something to that effect when used as a prefix so “chou yoyusu” is “super piece of cake” I can’t actually find a translation for “yoyusu” but it must be a “phrase” similar to piece of cake since it’s apparently had that translation since Alpha Closest I can find is “youi” meaning “easy”. I may bug a Japanese forum about it
Ah you’re right, Taunt 6 uses the exact same quote. Yeah I can hear “iku zo” but seems like he softens his ‘k’ to “gora”, must just be his accent since it’s meaningless.

Hmm I’m being told it’s “chou yoyuu ssu”. “yoyuu” being a surplus, doesn’t really translate well but he’s basically saying “there’s more where that came from” I suppose. I dunno about you guys but I don’t hear the extended “uu” sound in “yoyuu ssu” shrug

It sounds to me like chou yoyuushi to me. What does dousha dousha mean? I think I’ve seen/heard dousha as like an interjection for like “Is there a problem?”

It’s totally his accent. I mean, the guy says “doushta doushta” instead of “doshite doshite”, not to mention that he rolls his r (korrrrryuken instead of kolyuken :looney:)
Actually it’s pretty common to “drop” the ‘i’ from “shi”, most people pronounce it “doushta” It means “what’s wrong?” or “what’s the matter?”, the fact that he repeats it is just for emphasis but doesn’t really work in English “What’s wrong? What’s wrong?” “What’s the problem?” works for a translation
“Doushite” means “Why?” (allbeit a lot way of saying it), “For what reason?”, “What for?” etc.
It shouldn’t be “koulyuken” since that kinda implies there is no ‘r’ sound in it at all, he definately exaggerates these kinda things though. You can hear it when you “continue” in arcade mode when he says “rakushou” it comes off sounding like “rhakshou”
chou yoyuu ssu is equal to chou yoyuu desu, it’s actually slightly shortened form. It indeed means ‘It’s beyond piece of cake’, with yoyuu meaning ‘piece of cake’. (I suddenly have this urge to right down every single quote in his legendary taunt :lol:)
I was thinking why he would say Hyahoo, but I actually find it harder to say ‘Yahoo’ if you are jumping xD. I would consider it rough breath, or it just might be his way of saying it.
Anyways, I just realized taunt 3 makes most low attacks whiff during the jumping motion, while staying non-airborne. If you do it in matches it looks kind of funny. I wonder if it makes the very first hit of blanka ultra whiff.
Yeah “ssu” is slang for “desu” but saying “yoyuu” means “piece of cake” is a big stretch but really just one of those things lost in translation I suppose
I can’t actually make out everything he says in the Legendary Taunt so if you can please let me know “Hora hora! Doushita doushita?! Namen ja nee zo! (unsure of spelling) [something] Yahoo! Chou yoyuu ssu.”
Blanka’s Ultra may hit low to start but I reckon the hit box is pretty large, either way it’s not something you’d want to try using to jump over stuff
Very true, it means more like ‘composure’, but Dan wouldn’t say something like that xD, from his personality it can be worded into something more like ‘easy’.
I certainly will do that when I have time, along with original japanese letters as well.
I forgot to say, it also makes jump-in attacks by opponents easier because his hit box moves upward (imagine Sagat without his legs). Most online players don’t have respect for taunts so i was looking for a way to stand taunt in the middle of the battle in non-far range, but o well =[

Start: !!! (Ikuzo, ora!) - Here I go, ‘ora’ (Ora is just a uh… some sound game characters make I think? U can hear it from Shinryuken’s kick kick kick kick kick kick part as well, or some from old SNK games)
First: !!! (Ora, ora!)
Second: !!! (doushita, doushita) - What’s wrong! x 2 (Ok, this sounds strange in English, going to need some other wording that has some mocking atmosphere.)
Third: !!! (na me-en jya ne-zo) - Don’t contempt me! (The last small ‘yi’ is what I heard, but I think that’s just the way Dan speaks)
Fourth: ??? (torosugi daze) - Too slow (It can actually mean dull or moronic as well)
Jump: ??? (hyahoo) - Sound that depicts joy (It’s actually very rare to use ‘hoo’ (??) in Japanese language, so I just put ‘ho~’)
Last: ??? (chou, yoyuu ssu) - We already discussed meaning of this xD
Well, here’s the legendary taunt sequence with the phrases’ rough meanings. I don’t really like the fact that if someone hits you at the very last sequence, it’s considered counter.

I can destintively hear a ‘g’ sound after “iku zo” x_x;; Guess it could be an ‘h’ since he likes to add 'h’s to stuff. Sounds like “hora hora” to me as well

Odd way of saying “too slow”, “osoi” is the usual way of doing that, yet it makes the most sense heh. That’s the one I couldn’t make out at all.
