Did it last night, felt amazing! haha.
Unfortunately it was a Sakura player and not someone less awesome.
Ultra is a pretty good AA.
Balrogs ultra! :arazz: I’ve yet to find a reliable to counter his ultra with my own.
Well you shouldn’t need to, just block it all and punish when he’s finished. If he does it up close you have to block all but the last hit I think, from a bit of a distance you should be able to win with your one.
Here’s a hypothetical for you guys; assuming Shissou Buraiken remains the same and the new Ultra can be Kouryuken FADC juggled (maybe LP KRK AA juggled) but does damage around Sakura’s current Ultra (bit more than Ryu’s) would you…
A) Still use Shissou Buraiken
B) Use the new one
C) Use both depending on who you’re facing
D) Use both depending on mood
oe secret option E) SAIKYO~!!! (E’s not really an option :P)
If it has the Dan-effect at the end like current ultra or even in the middle, then option d. Otherwise a.
I’m pretty sure Shissou can beat thoughtlessly sent out buffalo if you time it. Shissou has at least (at most?) 1 frame of invincibility and active frame at the same time.
You beat out Balrog’s if you time it correctly and it varies depending on the range. I don’t think Dan can hit anyone with Ultra while they have a hitbox actively touching his forehead when he goes into active frames.
I’ve seen EX Buffalo Head and Chicken Wing (what’s that actually called?) both beat Shissou Buraiken
To expand on what I think they could do for a juggleable Ultra, I mentioned in the improvement thread that they could stick Shinkuu Gadouken and Kouryu Rekka together. If Shinkuu Gadouken starts on hit it’d cause either a stumble effect you see in Ken’s and Cody’s Ultra or for them to fall to their knees then Dan would do a dash into punch, a la Shissou Buraiken, followed by a fury of attacks, a la Hisshou Buraiken, then finally finish with a big cinematic Kouryu Rekka finding time to give the thumbs up somewhere in there (before or after Kouryu Rekka methinks).
If Kouryu Rekka to Shinkuu Gadouken then pretty simple just have them fall onto the Shinkuu Gadouken.
Another idea I had is Shin Kouryuken (suck it Gouken and Ryu!), starts the same as Shin Shoryuken with the crouching rising gut punch, after connecting he’d turn to the camera to give a thumbs up then do a fury of upward punches into their gut and finally finishing with an epic Kouryuken
Shinkuu Gadouken: QCFx2 > PPP
Hissho Buraiken: QCFx2 > KKK
This would make Dan downright scary at Full Meter. Anti-air LP.Koryuken or trade Koryuken would lead into Shinkuu Gadouken. Also, LK Danku > Shinkuu Gadouken would be possible, if the startup on the Super Gadouken was the same as Hissho Buraiken.
Think you mean Shissou Buraiken, Hisshou Buraiken is the Super
Startup being that of the Ultra, 10 frames? That quick enough? Anyways we’re not going to get two Ultras at once unless they add an Ultra Taunt QCFx2 + PPPKKK
I’m fine with Shinkuu Gadouken being in the new Ultra and it being called that but when it comes to the move it’d be really dull if it was only that.
I don’t think current ultra can hit airborne opponents, I gotta try it sometime, because if timed well enough, it can even go through metsu hadouken. A new ultra taunt would be nice :).
This suddenly hit me, but the hit effect and the way he finishes the hisshou buraiken seems oddly similar to the first hit of gouken’s forbidden SRK, along with how he throws gadouken with one hand. He WAS canonically gouken’s student, right?
Btw, I feel pretty sad that my first main and my second main, which are Gen and Dan, both do not have a theme song in SFIV. Hope this gets remedied when SSFIV comes out.
Dan’s ultra is really solid AA if timed well.
I meant two Supers, like Sakura’s rumored to be getting.
dan’s theme is one of the greatest. The Lee Kyoung Won remix is too sick.
You mean the Shin Shoryuken? I suppose but the application is different, Dan is basically doing a Kouryuken in the gut at the end of Shissou Buraiken where Gouken is just doing a rising gut punch (that sets up the Shoryuken part). Yeah Dan was taught before Ryu and Ken, you could say that Ryu, Ken, Sakura and even Akuma need to use both hands to concentrate enough ki but since Dan only uses one hand he’s not able to get enough ki so his Gadoukens are lack luster. Gouken on the other hand is able to concentrate enough ki with just a single hand, being the master that he is.
Problem is dashing under their jumps with it Like Seth’s to guarantee the hit you have to do it at the peak of their jump otherwise they can block in time. I’m guessing if they attack you can do it later since there’s more recovery but that’s kinda tricky to time x_x;;
Oh, then they wouldn’t use triple inputs It’s even more unlikely Dan will get two regular Supers. I doubt Sakura will get Shinkuu Hadouken as well, it wouldn’t really add anything to her game considering the speed of her Hadoukens (regular and EX are same as her walking speed, charged are slower), it’d just make certain super cancels easier but would have all the same uses as Haru Ichiban.
I’m gonna say it, screw the other characters Dan deserves 2 new Ultras! 1 being the new selectable one and the other being Ultra Taunt, and yes it should be Dan Install! The Ultra Taunt would need to be a little useful at least, they made Legendary Taunt useful by being Ultra cancelable so Ultra Taunt should do something. Maybe in the spirit of Dan every taunt gives a little of both Super and Ultra meter.
I’m still liking my Shinkuu Gadouken + Kouryu Rekka idea for his new (damaging) Ultra, and that’s what he should say when performing it, “Shinkuu~ Gadouken! Purasu! (plus) Kouryu Rekka~!” Anyone who’s seen Needless would understand
Japanese Dans, have you noticed how he tends to “accent” his 'Y’s with ‘H’? “Hyahoo!” and “Hyes!”, if you’ve read Sakura Ganbaru it’s spelt “hyahhoo” in katakana (double ‘h’ shows a slight pause).
Anyways enough rambling from me
I meant the forbidden one (super), not the whole super part, but just the ‘ding’ part if you get the first hit with it. Strangely enough I was able to resemble each other in that, along with the fact that they both don’t show their back when they do that, unlike other SRKs.
Thx for clarifying that Dan was Gouken’s student. I was in a state of total confusion about that
Hmm didn’t think there was anything particularly special looking about Gouken’s Super
Don’t show their back? Think they all have their shoryuken facing towards the camera, even Sakura’s Shououken… x_x?
I think all the others rotate their outer arm towards the background as they perform a Srk, Dan rotates his inner arm towards the foreground. Which is why we get to see his big dopey grin when he does the Krk.
Surely they all rotate around the punching arm? Guess I’ll have to look more closely hehe.
@ “dopey grin”
Dan does indeed do his Koryuken ‘backwards’. Gouken is the only other character to do a Koryuken/Shoryuken without turning his back to the camera (even Sagat and Sakura do for theirs).
Dan also does his sweep backwards too, which is why it’s such a slow move, but actually has decent recovery compared to some others. coughRyucough
Sagat’s Tiger Uppercunt is all back Sakura’s Shououken (as she describes) is basically a Shoryuken with a leading step (or two), which is why the striking part should look the same as a Shoryuken
I finally decided to spread a little Saikyo to the world, taunted the crap out of the boring tier whores without really caring about the match consequences Actually found a good Dan who thrashed me, was going to give him a compliment until he decided to be a boring tier whore twice in a row, which got a swift booting
