I hope you’re right. Street Fighter is too great to stop. Look at Nintendo with Mario Bros. Its been going on strong for 20 years. SF is kinda like the Mario Bros. of fighting games. To stop it would, I think, be a dent for Capcom, even though they’ve got other great games.
I revision of SFIV may be a hint to a true sequel. I guess.
Nah arcade update for the console characters is just not worth the time investment. At this point they’re better just working on the semi sequel to SFIV or just go ahead and work on five and give IV time to work its way into tournaments and let people actually play the game. Which in some ways is better for the scene than just releasing games left and right and breaking things up like Tekken and Guilty Gear have been notorious for. I can see the arcade release for a SFIV Dash having Americans complaining seeing the console release may not come for almost 6 months after.
Everyone already lost Fate on Megaman but they continue releasing games, i don’t know if you guys know about “Rockman.EXE - Operation Shooting Star” a crossover from Battle Network and Starforce that is going to be released in november.
Im a a MM fan but seriously… im tired of the star force/BN games, and they give them Bad Sells, why they continue released more games on that saga? i don’t get it.
Keiiji Inafune (MM creator) said he want to make a Megaman Legends 3 game with current Gen graphics, but nothing has happened… i want MMX9 and MM10 personally, those are the best sagas.
Capcom has left off Megaman and Street Fighter to create more RE, bionic comando, dark void and shit… =/ why capcom…
SFIV has been one of Capcom’s most profitable games this gen. Not to mention it is in the Top Ten Meta Critic rating for PS3 (Placed 5th with 94% rating) and 360 (9th with 93% rating). No other Capcom title from this gen has broken the top ten rating list. S-Kill feel free to correct me. You know very well SFIV has been tearing it up. And, with this Steam sale this weekend, I know the numbers are going to jump again. So, more money in Capcom’s pockets.
Would not be shocked to hear news on a new title this TGS, with a console release early 2011 or late 2010.
Well, since S.kill is kind of the community’s link to Capcom USA, couldn’t we get on the same page with him regarding telling Capcom about the success of the game and its legions of fans?
Unless of course, he is already doing this and doesn’t need backup from us.
He busts in with facts and makes the people shit bricks of truth. Capcom’s got money, tons of people bought the survival pack dlc for RE5. People are gonna buy the new RE rail-shooter for the Wii. I know they made bank off the costume packs, separate packs and the complete one.
Here’s what they do if they wanna save money. Either release a dlc version of SFIV for like 15 bucks. This would cut costs of making a new case/cd/booklet first; then if people didn’t have the game they’d buy a new/used copy and get the dlc anyway. Or repackage SF4 Dash and sell it at 39.99.
There is a problem. If they make it dlc or a new game, what about the people that play that don’t have the dlc? Are they no longer able to play online or would they make seperate netcoding all together for SF4 original and Dash players? You’d be an idiot to own SF4 and not get Dash though…
What?
Bionic Commando came out in May or so this year. I was just saying, that they got many other games.
It doesnt matter what most of capcom thinks as long as the SF-part and the managers think they should make some more.
That’s not entirely true. I don’t think it’s as simple as “We want to do this, you other guys that pull money from the safe for your games are just gonna have to deal”. I’m sure they have to look at every game idea and figure if it’s good for the company as a whole, otherwise they don’t want to burn money/time into something that may not work out in their favor.
Don’t get me wrong, I believe whole-heartedly SF4 Dash would do extremely well. And I still think it’d pull in the people that sold their copies previously, just because if the game is changed they’ll think “Oh if they fixed things then maybe it’ll finally give me justice and show what a good player I really am”.
That’s how some people are…they bitched about Gears of War 2 for it’s melee-pull trigger on shotgun(two-piece) and Epic fixed that in a patch two separate times. And changed the ranking system along with the effect of smoke grenades. All because people whined.
So if educated gentlemen/ladies like ourselves continued to voice our opinion, we’ll get our just desserts. “Hey Capcom, we appreciate you guys bringing SF back with SF4. It revitalized a genre some thought dead and gone. But ya know, as great as it is, it could still be better.”:wgrin:
That’s one of the main reasons why a new disc is better. That way everyone has access to the same info and people wno’t be able to play the game with each other unless they buy it and have access to the same data. Capcom I’m sure sees that as a huge hurdle for a DLC version of the game and would rather not go through that road.
Ibuki is a given. She’s easily one of the most popular SF3 characters. She just sucked in 3S.
Yeah you’re right about that. If the new disc included better/improved net-coding, lobby system similar to HDR or BB, new stages/characters and character changes/balances I’d definitely understand the point of a whole new disc. Boy am I dreaming or what, but it’d be nice if we got even half of that.
Edit: Was Ibuki good in the other two versions of SF3? Like Sean good?
She was top tier in the first 2 games…yeah. That probably helped her popularity a bit but people got mad when she couldn’t do half life combos and didn’t have a super that was basically the best of 3S Ken’s and Chun’s best supers. Then of course she became almost non existent in the tourney scene. Especially in America. By the time I had a chance to get into SF3 everyone was already playing 3rd Strike on the Dreamcast or in the arcades back in 2k2 and I had no choice but to settle with half assed Ibuki. I wanted to play Ibuki so I was gonna use her no matter what. I actually like the way she plays in 3S better as she has more specials and is more mix up oriented.
We’ll see what they do with her in SFIV, but if Capcom Fighting Jam was any indication…she won’t play much like her older counterparts. Gen is radically different from his Alpha iteration so that already has me guessing for Ibuki. I really hope they don’t take her chains away but I guess they’ll find a way to make it work like they did with Gen.
I can wait for the sequel. Never was a rehash fan of any sort. It’s always been a stupid idea to me. I know some great games deserve a patch but when they do it more than 3 times I’m done trying to learn the newest patch. Pointless…back in the golden era I let that shit slide but nowadays just no. If your going to have ppl learn another game let it be brand spanking new, and actually take your time making it.
