Hey you guys, I think this is a hint that games are actually going to bring attention back to the fgc. The article reads kinda funny but I noticed that they aren’t trying to say the games are going to change in price but rather in quality. Considering games like **3rd Strike **are on the market for a mere $15 bucks and these $60 buck galleons of destruction, while just not comparable in this particular case, will need a value shift. We all know we aren’t going to see -$60 bucks games anytime soon.
You guys think Capcom will try to dish out another SF game before someone sets a deadline.
I don’t think it’ll change…people has already committed to this price years ago. If anything games are going up but in not a way you think initially.
DLC is the added price to games now it seems and its flooding the market and the industry, and with the current thread of marketing for DLC, it’s likely that we will be spending around $100 for a game then just $60…
also take into consideration that there are a few games that are set at a lower MSRP as well( KOFXIII for example ). Digital Games also are incoming as well to become the new norm, however I think its going to be a while before that becomes the standard…
Personally I find it kind of absurd when people try to quantify the value of certain game elements as if the number of characters, game modes, features etc. have some intrinsic price associated with them.
I will say though when it started to become commonplace for new games to be priced over $50 is about the time I stopped buying games regularly, but I was also graduating high school at the time so my interest in gaming dropped a lot for unrelated reasons.
Personally after reading what I have about DRM being such a strong possibility always on internet and games being tied to just one account I’m guessing consoles are gonna end up killing themselves off in the next generation. HEIL PC, HEIL STEAM!!!
Lol thats what I said. But what bothers me is how much a price can drop. I sold SFxTK on monday and only got $28 for it and my discs are always flawless. I haven’t scratched a game in years. 44days = $32 loss o_O da fuq?
This is quite a strange habit -
Extremely notable video games titles,
such as the fighting games KOF 96, 3S, MVC2, or Skull Girls are worth about $15 each.
Mean while, games of questionable quality such as SFxT are worth… $70?! (I actually paid $50, not that it means very much) Plus DLC for 12 more characters (on an seemingly “incomplete” game no less).
I don’t know what else to say… except for the term well known as “bull shit!”
Games go on sale a lot more often now. If you know where to look you can easily get a new release for $10-$20 off or even half the price. SCV was released at the tail end of January and I see it everywhere now for just $40. I remember Skyrim goes on sale for 33% off at a few online retailers just a month after release. There’s no point buying these games on release now. Just give it a month or two and it’ll drop to a more reasonable price
its pretty much because games went up that i just started renting from gamefly and buying it for cheaper if I liked it.Just can’t take that chance of paying $60 dollars for a crap game.and seeing the stunts capcom pulled this gen.I’m pretty sure i made the right choice.
I mean if you know your going to like a game, then I don’t see why you shouldn’t get it on launch. However, If your on the fence about it, or you don’t want the Collectors Edition, Limited Edition, GOTY Edition then waiting is fine. I can’t stress this enough though. Please Research the game your planning to buy. This saves you alot of time and honestly can save you money. If you want to try it? Rent it(gamefly is there), or wait a few days and get it used at gamestop, you’ll have 7 days to essentially rent it and see if you like it…then you can get your full money refund if you don’t. I don’t see the hate people have for gamestop…
Technically every used copy of a game that sells from game stop is 1 sell they don’t get – at least early on (talking within the first few weeks of the game coming out.)
Used games are not killing the gaming market…they are one of the few things us gamers have in our power to abuse. It’s not the late 90’s anymore when we had Funco-land that let use play/rent new games , we dont have those kinds of luxuries anymore, people need to stop being ignorant and see what used games do for us and not saying its ok for big corporations to get away with shit like online passes for games.
Haha yeah, it has dropped a whole 2 dollars on our hyper inflating dollar. How much is gas again? Sorry but i buy games used all the time and i usually wait months after a release, unless i think the game is actually worth it. We all ready spend about $100 on a game with all the dlc, if you buy on release or close to
The linked rant proves nothing. The fact that EA makes a ton of money and creates DLC has nothing to do with used game sales. It’s just included to influence the listener to hate publishers.
